WoW Forever Engineering 1–300 guide
Build the components and tools you need before moving to the next recipe.
Engineering builds bombs, scopes, goggles and gadgets out of stone, bars and cloth, and this route takes it from 1 to 300 with almost every intermediate part feeding a later step.
Mining is the obvious partner: nearly every Engineering recipe wants blasting powder (from stone) and bars (from ore), and both drop out of the same mining node. Without Mining, budget for buying every stone and bar on the Auction House.
The beta's level cap stops the tested route at the Unstable Triggers around 215. Everything after that is read from the 70205 client data and the Classic route, which Engineering kept unchanged; the Gnome racial is the one thing that did change.
Shopping list
Counts are estimates: once a recipe turns yellow not every craft gives a point. An alternative replaces its whole row, so buy whichever is cheaper on your house.

Tools and supplies
Blacksmith Hammer
Most recipes need it. Nearly every trainer has a Blacksmithing or Engineering Supply vendor nearby; the exceptions are Dun Morogh and Zephras Isle.
Alliance vendors
- Dun Morogh Thrawn Boltar
- Zephras Isle Aedi Thriceforged
Horde vendors
- Zephras Isle Aedi Thriceforged
Arclight Spanner
You craft this yourself at 50 from 6 Copper Bars and keep it; many recipes list it as the required tool.
Gyromatic Micro-Adjustor
Crafted at 194 from 4 Steel Bars; the second tool several Expert and Artisan recipes require.
Weak Flux
One per Bronze Tube. Engineering Supply vendors near the trainers sell it.
Apprentice 1–50
Nothing you make here gets vendored: the powder and bolts are the Rough Copper Bombs of the next rank, and the spanner is a permanent tool.

Artisan 200–300
Buzzek Bracketswing in Gadgetzan teaches both Artisan Engineering and the 200+ recipes, so go there at 200. The triggers were walked in the beta; from 215 on this is the Classic route, which Engineering kept intact, read against the 70205 catalog and not yet tested.
To train past 225, learn Artisan Engineering (requires skill 200 and character level 35). The same trainer teaches every rank.

Engineering specializations
At skill 200 and character level 30 you choose Gnomish or Goblin Engineering. A few devices only work for their own specialization; most are craftable by one side and usable by any engineer, so the choice is about which recipe list you want to own, not which gear you can wear. The specialization quests appear to be the Classic ones and the recipe lists are close to Classic, but not every new Forever recipe has been checked yet. Keep 5 Explosive Sheep (Goblin) or 6 Mithril Tubes (Gnomish) from the Expert steps so the quest turn-in is ready.
The Gnome racial changed
Gnomes no longer get +15 Engineering skill. In Forever, Engineering Specialization instead makes their devices misfire or backfire 20% less often. For levelling purposes a Gnome follows exactly the same route as everyone else.
Hammer and spanner
Two tools live in your bags for the whole climb: the vendor-bought Blacksmith Hammer and the Arclight Spanner you build at 50. The Gyromatic Micro-Adjustor joins them at 194. None are consumed.

What is tested and what is not
Route tested in the Forever beta up to skill 215.
Beyond the beta cap: taken from the client's recipe data, not yet tested in game. Applies from skill 215.
- Steps 1-215 follow the community reference route walked in the beta; TheWoWDB has not crafted it yet. The reference states the route after 225 is untested; its last beta-walked step ends at 215.
- Rank boundaries follow the reference (Expert 150-200, Artisan 200-300) because Buzzek teaches the 200+ recipes before the 225 Artisan gate.
- Multi-output recipes (Rough Copper Bomb x2, Coarse Dynamite x2, Silver Contact x5, Iron Grenade x3, Hi-Explosive Bomb x4) carry the reference's craft counts; the renderer should multiply by catalog output_quantity for item totals.
