WoW Forever Tailoring 1–300 guide
Cloth into bolts, bolts into gear: the cheapest route from 1 to 300 with every trainer and the cloth-versus-bolt check for your faction house.
A 1-300 Tailoring route for WoW Forever with the cloth shopping list, every trainer by race and capital, and the cheapest craft for each skill band from Apprentice through Artisan.
Cloth comes from humanoid drops rather than a gathering skill, so Tailoring sits comfortably beside any second profession. Enchanting is the classic match: the gloves, capes and bags you make on the way can be disenchanted into the dust and essences that level it.
Everything here is read from the Forever beta client (build 70205). The beta caps skill at 225, and Mageweave Cloth barely exists there because few characters reach level 40, so the 140-225 stretch leans on buying Bolt of Mageweave outright.
Shopping list
Counts are estimates: once a recipe turns yellow not every craft gives a point. An alternative replaces its whole row, so buy whichever is cheaper on your house.

Tools and supplies
Coarse Thread
Linen Belts. A Tailoring Supply vendor stands near almost every trainer; Tirisfal Glades is the exception, so Undead tailors shop in Brill.
Horde vendors
- Tirisfal Glades Abigail Shiel
Fine Thread
Woolen capes and shoulders, Gloves of Meditation and the Crimson Silk Vest. Supply vendors.
Silken Thread
Crimson Silk Pantaloons and Mageweave Bags. Supply vendors.

Elixir of Wisdom
Not a vendor item: a reagent for Gloves of Meditation. Buy it on the Auction House or ask an Alchemist.

Cloth or bolt: which is cheaper in your house
Buy bolts or craft from cloth?
Compare the cloth needed for one bolt with its ready-made price on the selected faction house. Crafting requires a recipe you have already learned. Cloth you own still has a sale value; it is not free.
| Bolt | Cloth per bolt | Buy one bolt | Buy cloth and craft | Compare |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bolt of Linen Cloth | 2 × Linen Cloth | 58 copper | 42 copper | Buying cloth and crafting costs 16 copper less per bolt in these scans. |
| Bolt of Woolen Cloth | 3 × Wool Cloth | 3 silver85 copper | 3 silver51 copper | Buying cloth and crafting costs 34 copper less per bolt in these scans. |
| Bolt of Silk Cloth | 4 × Silk Cloth | 22 silver50 copper | 17 silver80 copper | Buying cloth and crafting costs 4 silver70 copper less per bolt in these scans. |
| Bolt of Mageweave | 5 × Mageweave Cloth | 75 silver99 copper | 1 gold64 silver50 copper | Buying the bolt costs 88 silver51 copper less per bolt in these scans. |
| Bolt of Runecloth | 5 × Runecloth | Unknown | 4 gold95 silver | Comparison unavailable: a price or scan time is unknown. |
No gathering skill needed
Cloth is a humanoid drop, so Tailoring pairs with anything. Enchanters get the most out of it: the gloves, capes and bags on this route disenchant into leveling dust and essences.
Mageweave on the beta
Mageweave Cloth only drops from level-40 mobs, and few beta characters are there. If you level on the beta, buy Bolt of Mageweave from the Auction House for 140-225, or stay on Gloves of Meditation to 150 and wait.
Do not reuse a Classic 225-300 route
Forever shifted many Tailoring skill ranges; most late recipes turn grey 25 to 45 points sooner than in Classic Era. Everything above 225 is unknown until it has been walked in game.
Camp items from this profession
Every profession adds three camp items, one per tier. Placing one at a campfire gives everyone sitting there its buff for an hour. How camping works.
| Tier | Skill | Camp item | Copies | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | Divine Spirit | Trainer | ||
| 140 | — | Blueprint (dungeon drop) | ||

What is tested and what is not
Route tested in the Forever beta up to skill 225.
Beyond the beta cap: taken from the client's recipe data, not yet tested in game. Applies from skill 225.
- Route and counts are the community reference's estimates mapped onto build 70205 recipe data from the Tailoring cluster catalog; TheWoWDB has not yet run this route in the Forever beta.
- The catalog records min_skill_rank = 1 for every recipe, so learn thresholds are not compared; yellow and grey thresholds agree with the reference on every step used here.
- Trainer and vendor placements are from community references and have not yet been walked in the Forever beta by TheWoWDB.

Learning recipes and checking the guide
Learn the recipe before buying its ingredients. The Forever profession reference reports learning instructions; we have not independently tested them in game. Source checked 5 October 2026.
If your skill cap blocks progress, check the linked training instructions before continuing. A recipe listed here may need a trainer, purchased recipe or quest that your character has not completed.
Ingredients and crafting relations match our WoW Forever 1.60.1.70205 client snapshot. Client records do not establish obtainable recipes, farming locations or drops. No craft-count odds or guaranteed shopping total are used here.
