WoW Forever Blacksmithing 1–300 guide
Find your skill band, check the bars and stone for one craft, and keep useful intermediate materials.
Blacksmithing hammers bars and stone into weapons, mail and plate, and this route carries the skill from 1 to 225 on the cheapest crafts the Forever client offers, with the Artisan stretch waiting on live testing.
Take Mining alongside it. Blacksmithing chews through hundreds of bars and stones, and buying every one on the Auction House is the single most expensive way to level any profession in Forever.
The beta's level cap stops at Expert, so the 225-300 route is not written yet. Forever moved many Blacksmithing thresholds down by about 25 points compared with Classic, which is why the old Classic route does not transfer.
Shopping list
Counts are estimates: once a recipe turns yellow not every craft gives a point. An alternative replaces its whole row, so buy whichever is cheaper on your house.

Stones first, then gauntlets. Everything you make here except the sharpening stones is a reagent for a later step, so do not vendor any of it.

Artisan 225–300
No tested route exists yet. Brikk Keencraft in Booty Bay teaches Artisan to both factions, but the beta's level cap keeps anyone from levelling through this range. Forever lowered most Artisan-range grey points by about 25 compared with Classic Era, so the Classic recipe order does not carry over. We will publish a route built from the catalog thresholds once it can be checked in game.
To train past 225, learn Artisan Blacksmithing (requires skill 200 and character level 35). The same trainer teaches every rank.

The hammer rule
A Blacksmith Hammer is a tool, not a reagent: one in your bags covers every craft. Every capital trainer has a supply vendor within a few steps; the only trap is Tirisfal Glades, where nobody near Angus Hammerhand sells one, so Undead smiths should buy it in Deathknell or Brill on the way.
Why the Classic route breaks here
Blacksmithing is one of the professions Forever rebalanced hardest. Several Expert and Artisan recipes go grey roughly 25 skill points earlier than in Classic Era, which is why this guide stops at 225 instead of guessing. The 70205 catalog thresholds on each step card are the live numbers.
Rods for Enchanters
Blacksmiths make every enchanting rod. They are quick skill-ups when the materials are at hand and sell steadily to levelling enchanters.

What is tested and what is not
Route tested in the Forever beta up to skill 225.
Beyond the beta cap: taken from the client's recipe data, not yet tested in game. Applies from skill 225.
- Steps 1-225 follow the community reference route walked in the beta; TheWoWDB has not crafted it yet.
- Three Journeyman steps carry a conflict: the catalog's min_skill_rank for Runed Copper Belt (80), Rough Bronze Leggings (95) and Patterned Bronze Bracers (120) is higher than the skill at which the reference starts crafting them.
- No Artisan steps exist in the reference, so the 225-300 rank block is intentionally empty rather than guessed.

Learning recipes and checking the guide
Learn the recipe before buying its ingredients. The Forever profession reference reports learning instructions; we have not independently tested them in game. Source checked 5 October 2026.
If your skill cap blocks progress, check the linked training instructions before continuing. A recipe listed here may need a trainer, purchased recipe or quest that your character has not completed.
