WoW Forever Camping guide
How campfires and camp items work, your first camp, and every camp item of every profession.
Camping is the system WoW Forever added on top of professions: drop a campfire, let everyone around it plug in one item from their trade, and the whole group walks away with an hour of buffs, vendors, repairs or workstations.
It is worth doing even if you never craft. Every profession reaches skill 20 quickly, and that is all the tier 1 camp item needs. Fishing's Fish Bowl is the universal pick because it raises every stat.
Everything here was observed in the Forever beta by community players; quest givers, skill gates and drop sources have not been re-walked by TheWoWDB and can change before launch.
How camping works
One player places a campfire from their bags. Anyone standing near it can use one camp item from their own profession, which adds that item's effect to the fire. Sit (/sit) or craft beside the fire for about a minute and the fire's effects land on you for an hour. You do not need a profession to receive them; being at the fire is enough. A fire with only one item still works.
Your first camp
The entry quest is The Great Outdoors, available from level 4 in each starting zone (the quest giver differs by zone, see the table). It walks you through placing a fire. After that, learn Cooking in the nearest town: the Basic Campfire Kit recipe is included. Finally, each of your professions has its own Camping 101 quest that you turn in at that profession's trainer; once that skill reaches 20 the same trainer sells you the tier 1 item.
- Pick up The Great Outdoors in your starting zone (level 4).
- Learn Cooking; the Basic Campfire Kit comes with it.
- Turn in Camping 101 at each profession trainer and learn the tier 1 item at skill 20.
Campfires
Campfires are Cooking items and every camp starts with one. The three kits differ only in how many camp items they accept: 3, 5 and 10. The Basic kit is a trainer recipe; the Journeyman and Expert kits come from Blueprints. Note the odd gate: the reference reports the Journeyman and Expert recipes can be learned at Cooking 90 and 200, yet the finished kits need Cooking 140 and 220 to place. Our client data confirms the 140 and 220 on the items. It may be a beta bug.
Where camp item recipes come from
Tier 1 is taught by your profession trainer at skill 20 once Camping 101 is done. Tiers 2 and 3 are Blueprint recipe items. The reference has not seen all of them yet; the ones that have appeared dropped in dungeons, so expect the rest to as well. Our client data has the recipes themselves but no drop records, which is why the source column says Blueprint rather than naming a boss.
Reading the table
Each row lists only what that tier adds. The "copies" column names the class buff a tier 1 item imitates in weaker form. A workstation is a crafting station some recipes of that profession require, such as an anvil or a forge.

Campfires
Reagents are read from the Cooking catalog by spell_id (Simple Wood for Basic, Star Wood for Journeyman, Thick Logs for Expert).
| Campfire | Cooking skill | Camp items it holds | Source | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 | Learned with Cooking | Comes free with Apprentice Cooking. The catalog lists Simple Wood as its only reagent; the reference also names Flint and Tinder as a crafting tool you must own but never consume. | |
| 90 | 5 | Blueprint recipe item; the reference has only seen these drop in dungeons so far | Learn at Cooking 90 per the reference, but the kit item itself needs Cooking 140 to place (our client data agrees on the 140). | |
| 200 | 10 | Blueprint recipe item; the reference has only seen these drop in dungeons so far | Learn at Cooking 200 per the reference; placing it needs Cooking 220 (our client data agrees on the 220). |

What is tested and what is not
Beyond the beta cap: taken from the client's recipe data, not yet tested in game. Applies from skill 140.
- Tier 1 items (skill 20) and the Basic Campfire Kit are reachable in the beta; tier 2 (140) and tier 3 (300) items and the Blueprint drops are reported, not walked.
- Tailoring's three camp items exist in the client (data/forever_tailoring/70205.json) but tailoring is not yet registered in guides.json, so their spell_ids are left unresolved with a catalog_hint for WP-5.
- Cooking has no tier 1 camp item; its contribution is the fire.
Training and guide sources
Check your next rank of training before traveling. The Forever profession reference reports learning instructions; we have not independently tested them in game. Source checked 5 October 2026.
If your skill cap blocks progress, check the linked training instructions before continuing. A recipe listed here may need a trainer, purchased recipe or quest that your character has not completed.
Ingredients and crafting relations match our WoW Forever 1.60.1.70205 client snapshot. Client records do not establish obtainable recipes, farming locations or drops. No craft-count odds or guaranteed shopping total are used here.
