Avast Ye, Admiral!

Try to get some fresh air every now and then.

Meaning that if you grinded to friendly with the Bloodsail Buccaneers, you really need to get out of the house more often.

Edit: The Bloodsail grind is easier now than it was in 2008 when I wrote this.

I'm still waiting to see someone running around named Bloodsail Admiral Akbar. ;)

Earning your title in Cataclysm, the relatively painless way.*

*Please excuse my horrible linking skills; this is my first Wowhead post. ^_^;

If you have not done any of the Stranglethorn quests prior to Cataclysm, or were partially done and had the whole zone reset on you (as in my case), you can use the following guide to have really easy grind. Note: You will get capped at 11999/12000 Honored.

1. Do some quests. No, really.
- Talk to Sea Wolf MacKinley and do his two quests - Scaring Shaky and Kill-Collect
- This will unlock The Bloodsail Buccaneers from First Mate Crazz. As you can see on that quest's page, there's a whole chain of quests to go through while you rub elbows with the Bloodsails at the bidding of Baron Revilgaz. Sadly, you do not earn Bloodsail rep for doing these quests.
- At the end of the quest chain, you'll be sent to your very own Captain's chambers aboard your own pirate ship (woo!), where you find Captain Stillwater's Charts. It begins a third, smaller, quest chain in which you sabotage the Bloodsails (Sinking From Within & Making Mutiny), learn about The Brashtide Crew, and head back to Booty Bay to report your findings to Baron Revilgaz.
- Once you have accepted Return to Revilgaz, stop what you are doing. The area phases as soon as you accept this quest. All of the NPCs in Booty Bay are dropped down to level 35 for the event.

2. Set your status with Booty Bay to "At War."

3. Have fun killing things!
- Everything is now much easier to kill, as they are all 35.
- Booty Bay Bruisers do NOT give you rep during this phased event. You must kill other, named NPCs around Booty Bay for reputation. The only named NPC you cannot kill is Myizz Luckycatch the fishing trainer, who is dangling from the rigging outside the Inn.
- Rough breakdown of rep by NPC:

• Baron Revilgaz – 27-28 per kill

• Rickle Goldgrubber (banker #1) – 27-28 per kill

• Viznik Goldgrubber (banker #2) – 27-28 per kill
• 
  
• Grizzlowe (shipmaster) – 27-28 per kill

• Wharfmaster Lozgil – 15-16 per kill

• All other named NPCs – 5-6 per kill

• Auctioneers & Bruisers give no rep. You may have to kill some bruisers because they get in your way, like the one by Seahorn.

(I did not write down any information about how much Steamwheedle rep you lose with each kill, unfortunately. You will, however, end up fully hated with all four Steamwheedle cities somewhere along the way)
- Two useful paths to grind out this rep:

• Route 1: Start at the end of the dock where Grizzlowe is cowering. Make your way up the dock (right side, not towards the entrance), and head into the Black Market building. Kill everyone inside, then come out, mount up, and fly over the building to the main entrance. There's a path up there with a couple buildings; kill the 5 or 6 guys standing out front, and Dizzy One-Eye, who is across the first bridge. Keep going across the “back” of Booty Bay, hitting up the profession shops, until you reach the Alliance flight point (platform next to the hanging shark). Jump down, which puts you at the start of…

• Route 2: Kill Jutak, then head into the inn. Kill the 2 goblins and the gnome drinking right inside the door. Run all the way upstairs, killing Catelyn and Deeg along the way. (Don't worry about those two rooms across the bridge-thing from Catelyn; no one's in them.) Now you're on the balcony with the Baron. Kill him, then take the little side path around the corner to the Horde flight point. Kill Kebak and the Bruiser (and try not to hit the Horde flightmaster. He’s still 85 and hits like a truck), then jump down into the bank area. Kill both bankers and Privateer Bloads (sitting in the back behind them). Run up the ramp back towards the hanging shark, and kill Fleetmaster Seahorn, Sea Wolf McKinley, and Fin Fizracket (the sick goblin lying in the little alcove next to Seahorn). You won't be able to tab-target Fizracket, but he will give you rep if you kill him.

For the most part, I did laps of Route 2. It took between 50-75 seconds to do each lap, depending on if a Bruiser had netted me, and for the most part, by the time I got back to an NPC, it had respawned. Jutak and one of the drinking goblins have longer respawn timers, so you won't get them on every lap. Sometimes Shaky Phillipe will run by, giving you some rep, and a few blessed seconds free of his inane yelling. The bankers occasionally take a little longer to spawn. If you do Route 2 a lot and find that the NPCs aren't spawning fast enough for your liking, fly across the harbor and do a run of Route 1. You can get all the way up to 11999/12000 Honored rep by using this phased quest.

4. The absolute best part about this phased quest?
You can pick up and complete Avast Ye, Admiral!, earn 550 Bloodsail rep for it, and then keep going! The ship The Crimson Veil is where you can pick it up, and normally it’s docked off the Wild Shore in the south. However, because of phasing, it can now be found at the mouth of Booty Bay, next to the island with the statue on it.
