Hail to the Chef

One of the cooking achievements to be added to the game in Wrath of the Lich King. For Alliance players, please see the Horde Version. This achievement encompasses a plethora of real-world references, not least its title being reference to the album "Hail to the Thief" by English alternative band Radiohead (or, as you'll read in JarBreaker's comment below, actually a reference to "Hail to the Chief", the official anthem of the President of the US, which Radiohead's offering is almost certainly in reference to - for missing this, I blame living in the wrong hemisphere).

Upon completing this achievement, players will be able to display the title "Chef" before their character name.

To complete this achievement, players are required to complete the following criteria:

• Grand Master Cook: Become a Grand Master Cook. Players will need to obtain training allowing them to cook recipes up to a potential of 450 skill, the new maximum come Wrath.

• The Cake Is Not A Lie: Make a Delicious Chocolate Cake. This is achieved by obtaining the recipe from either of Barrel of Fish or Crate of Meat, each a reward from one The Rokk <Master of Cooking>'s daily cooking quests (Manalicious, Revenge is Tasty, Soup for the Soul, Super Hot Stew). The exceedingly-low drop rate of the recipe from either container is intended to make reference to the often-quoted "The Cake Is A Lie!" line from first-person-puzzler Portal. And, of course, the character 'The Rokk' being a 'Master of Cooking' is intended to make reference to the former World Wrestling Entertainment star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, particularly his catch-phrase "Can ya smell what The Rock is cookin'!".

• Kickin' It Up A Notch: Complete each of The Rokk's daily cooking quests (Manalicious, Revenge is Tasty, Soup for the Soul, Super Hot Stew). This criterion item makes reference to one of the catch-phrases of famous chef Emeril Lagasse.

• The Northrend Gourmet. Currently unconfirmed, though likely requires players to cook a fair chunk of the recipes listed in its prerequisite here.

• Second That Emotion. Requires players to eat (not cook) four 'emotion' foods, Bad Clams, Haunted Herring, Last Week's Mammoth and Tasty Cupcake. The quest title is in reference to a Motown classic (and certainly other sources since), "I Second That Emotion".

• Critter Gitter. Using Critter Bites, coerce 10 critters to be your pet within 3 minutes or less. Largely taken-as-read, this criterion item requires the player to gain control of 10 critters (that is, adorable little creatures found all over the game that you'll often unceremoniously kill when frustratedly trying to find a quest-mob) within 3 minutes. A list of available critters can be found in another achievement, To All The Squirrels I've Loved Before.

• Our Daily Bread. Complete all of the daily quests offered by Katherine Lee, <Grand Master Cooking Trainer> in Dalaran, the new Neutral capital city in Northrend. These quests will be: Infused Mushroom Meatloaf, Convention at the Lederdemain, Sewer Stew, Cheese for Glowergold and Mustard Dogs!. This criterion item refers to an oft-cited Abrahamic-based religion prayer of thanks containing the phrase "...give us Lord our daily bread."

• Captain Rumsey's Lager. (That's pronounced lah-grr - Captain Rumsey does not suffer from lag). Brew up some of Captain Rumsey's Lager. Simply achieved by obtaining the recipe, currently only available from the daily fishing quests in Outland, and brewing 'dat sucka up.
• 
  
• Sous Chef: Learn 100 cooking recipes. Rather self-explanatory, and part of an achievement-line involving learning 25/50/75/100/160 recipes. The title 'Sous Chef' is a quasi-French term used to denote lower-level chefs, often responsible for doing preparation/menial tasks their superior would choose not to.

• Dinner Impossible. Present a Great Feast in each of the battlegrounds. Sure to be much-loved by downtrodden mages tired of feeding their battlegrounds day-in, day-out.

• The Outland Gourmet. Cook each of the Outland cooking recipes listed here. As far as I'm aware, these are all the recipes added in BC, some being rare-drops, some not.

This achievement should give you a Chef's hat, or a Chef's apron (as a tabard).
