Update March 15th:
- The event duration has been extended by 96 hours, and is now scheduled to end on Friday, March 22.
- For the remainder of the event, the boss portal will open every 30 minutes (was every 60 minutes).
- Players can now collect missing cards by using the Hearthstone Gameboard toy to defeat others in a friendly game. It will continue to drop cards after the event ends.Every 30 minutes an Ominous Portal with a 5-minute timer will spawn in Valdrakken, Stormwind and Durotar (Orgrimmar). Once the timer finishes, Whizbang will spawn and summon 3 iconic Hearthstone minions - Chillwind Yeti or Boulderfist Ogre, Patches and Dr. Boom.
Defeat them to earn Hearthstone-themed rewards! Its a accountwide Achievment. All Characters from your Battle.Net Account will count do it.
To eliminate the chances to get a wild card drop: The wild cards are Unique (10). So buy them from nearby Shady Dealer till you have 10 of those. 5 cost 20 silver. As they are unique, you wont get more of those as random drop from the bosskill.Stormwind

I got this tonight, it took me 28 kills overall.
Yes: the portals spawn in every location (Durotar, Stormwind Harbor, Valdrakken)
at the top of every hour. <<This was changed to every 30 minutes.
Yes: the progress is account-wide, it doesn't matter if you are Horde or Alliance.
Yes: you can now use the Hearthstone Game Table toy to collect the [item=212924]s for this achievement when you defeat another player.
Yes: the cards will continue to be obtainable from the Hearthstone Gameboard toy even after the event is over.
Yes: some of the portals spawn a bit late compared to server time.
Yes: you can get rare/epic loot (including the mount) on characters that aren't max-level.
Yes: you can get good loot from multiple Dr. Boom's every time the portals spawn, as long as you make sure to tag Dr. Boom before he dies. *The most efficient way to do this is to find a group through the LFG tool, join a raid group, loot Dr. Boom, open or use any blue/epic loot, then leave the group so that you will phase back to your home server. If your server hasn't finished downing him, you can smack him a few times and it will count for you. After that, pull up LFG again and check for late portals in whatever zone you're in. I have consistently been able to get 2-3 kills per spawn time doing this.*Problems you might encounter:
- Update: The hotfix implemented added in gray items to the loot table, so players should now receive loot regardless of how many wild cards they have on them.
You might get no loot. There doesn't seem to be a definitive reason for why this happens, but the ATT discord has conjectured that it is linked to RNG trying to give you an item that you already have. (i.e. if you have the max number of wild cards on you, or you've already collected the rare/epic item that would have dropped.)
- Some players are reporting that they traded an item away to someone, and now that item will no longer drop for them. If you find yourself in this situation, I would suggest turning in a ticket to Blizz in case this is the problem.
- Update: This issue was hotfixed per Blizzard>>
Something is odd with the loot table triggers/tracking. I don't know what it is but you can verify that something is "off" about it by comparing the kill counter for Whizbang on the task in the Traveler's Log to the actual number of times you have killed him. The only time that I have been able to get this count to go up is if I *don't* get blue/epic loot. For example, if I got one of the Stolen Cards, my counter would not advance. Right now I have everything available from this event, and the Traveler's Log says that I've only killed Whizbang a total of 9 times, which is impossible.
- Update: These issues have been hotfixed. It is now possible to receive a 10 wild cards even if you only have 9, gray items have been added to the loot table, and the Traveler's Log issue has been fixed.
You might keep getting [item=211965]s over and over and over, instead of something worth your time and effort. Try keeping 9 of the wild cards in your inventory. For whatever reason, you will never get that 10th card (which is the max unique you can have). Four out of my first five kills only dropped green cards for me. I got sick of deleting them and just kept the 9. After that, 18 out of 21 drops were all blues/epics - the three drops that didn't gave me the no-loot issue. (The remaining 2 kills I got were while I was holding 10 wild cards, which resulted in no loot both times, but advanced the count on the Traveler's Log.)
- Lastly, if you're a ghost when Dr. Boom dies, there seems to be a small chance that you won't be able to loot the body. However, multiple people (myself included) have reported that if the loot was going to drop for you, but didn't due to ghostliness, the loot will come in the mail. (Of course, if you were about to get a no-loot bug, nothing gets mailed, which is a bummer.)
Hopefully this helps!
I have a problem with this achievement after trading [item=212924] to my friend - seems like the game counted it as a drop for me, now I'm missing 2 cards for the achievement and they don't drop anymore (no drops in around 20 kills).
