Edit: At long last, we got it. I would like to extend full credit to the following players, who reached out to me on Btag with a theory and allowed me to join them to test various things. Unlike some groups, they had no issue with me sharing their strat here.
Big thanks to: Darte-Stormreaver, Novath-Stormreaver, Aeglour-Stormreaver, Durtyd-Blackrock and Citadel-Blackrock.
As for the achievement itself, we believe it's slightly bugged. After the egg hatches we think the snake should simply become attackable but currently evade bugs. This is the unfortunate part because as far as we can tell this achievement requires a DK at the moment.
The Solid Egg is atop the bones that extend over the room, on the right hand side of the room. It can be seen in this screenshot. It's invisible but can be revealed with ground effects that damage it, Flare and Spectral Sight. Once revealed it can be killed, but according to their group this caused it to despawn until the boss was reset. Instead they caused it to hatch by damaging it with a single ability (just enough to reveal it) and then positioning the boss nearby. Their positioning was extremely precise, though it's unclear how much precision is required. In this wide-angle shot, red is where the egg is during the encounter, green is where the group was stacked and orange is where the tank held the boss. On a subsequent pull it was suggested that the tank had to be close enough to hit the egg with ranged abilities (Throw Glaive in his case).
Once the boss is in position you need to wait for a Blinding Sand cast. We believe that you need to have at least one person get disoriented by the Blind, as this happened every time we had it hatch. At any rate it didn't hurt to do, so we did. It was a little hit and miss, but if the egg doesn't hatch, wait for another blind.
Once the egg does hatch is where the problem starts for a lot of groups. This is what the mob does after being hatched. The mob evade bugs and will not come down no matter what you do. If you run far enough away (we just went to the opposite side of the room) then the snake drops combat and chills up on top of the bones doing nothing. Their group realised that once this happened they were able to hit it with a single ability before it would re-engage and evade bug again. With a DK in group, the first ability (before it enters combat and evade bugs) can be a Death Grip, which pulls it down into the arena and stops it from evading. I believe they tried using Sigil of Chains before I was brought in which did not move the snake. This is why I say that we believe a DK is necessary at the moment. If I hear in the future this is no longer the case, I'll update this post.
Once the snake is gripped down, you just need to kill it (he does nothing but melee swing) and once he dies he becomes clickable. You do a short cast called 'Snake Eater' and then get a 10 minute buff (also called Snake Eater) at which point the achievement pops up without you needing to kill boss.
This is what you look like after eating the snake and getting your costume.
Edit 2: According to Exsecutor you can grip the egg down before it hatches (still avoid killing it) and then hit it with Noxious Breath to hatch it. Thanks for the idea!
Edit 3: According to Nokomanida-Mal'ganis (US) you can circumvent the need for a DK with a priest by mind controlling the snake after it drops combat and jumping it off the bones. Thanks for the idea!
Thanks again to the players I mentioned above and to the long list of people who have been adding me to suggest things over the past few days. Almost there on these metas, now let's go find a mummy shall we?
My btag is FrostyShot#1667 if you have any questions about the metas. (US Servers)

Due to the mechanics involved, this achievement is all but impossible to solo unless you're the "correct" class.
I was able to solo this on my hunter by swapping to SV.
- Drop a flare to be able to see the egg. In P1, misdirect to your pet and micro it a little so the boss is facing towards the egg to make sure Noxious Breath hits. Once it turns green you're good to move out of the way and wait for the boss to Burrow.
- Once it's underground, kill the snakes that spawn and then harpoon up to the Solid Egg. Command your pet to stay under the bone arch and a little bit in front of it. When the boss spawns for P2 it will cast Blinding Sand. If you've positioned your pet correctly the Solid Snake should spawn. This may take a few tries and if you run out of Blinding Sands you can just feign death + play dead to reset the boss.
- Pop all your cooldowns and quickly kill the Solid Snake. If you don't kill it fast enough the boss eventually teleports you back down to the arena and the Solid Snake will start evading. Once it's dead eat the snake while you're still on the bone arch and win.
