This is Cheap to make one of these than to buy Undewater breathing pots. And this never runs out. I like to goto a coast where i can see allience Fishing and put hunters mark on them from a distance under the water. Where there is no one around and they think there alone its quite funny lol. Average Cost: 4g to make. Although the mats arn't hard to grind.

It's pretty neat to stay underwater for a long time, but if you're looking for a PvP 'underwater breathing item', you should go for the Hydrocane from Gnomeregan (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=9452). It won't cost you any money and it's equippable in combat.

One of the most useful items that an engineer can make, I have found that this item has saved my butt in many, many water-based situations. I was fortunately able to make this before going to STV to quest, and this helmet became one of my favorite tools when doing the large number of water-based quests there. In addition, the naga-related quest line in the Arathi Highlands BEGS for the use of this little baby. Definitely worthwhile to buy or make; the amount of money the schematic costs on the AH does not compare to the fun you will have exploring the Vile Reef of Strenglethorn Vale.

Well, the night elves' ears stick out, so why not Tauren horns? Anyway, my Tauren druid is my engineer, and I just about fell out of my chair laughing when I saw this. Abso-fricking-lutely hilarious. Please, use the 3D viewer above and look at it.

okay think about this. Night Elf/Blood Elf/Taurn/Male troll tusks(not so sure if they do stick out) Leaving 1-2 holes in a helmet meant for water breathing. You make 1-2 openings that allow water to run in if you make a hole too big! Also.... Wheres the air tubes and junk that would supply air under water? All I see is a big diving helm.

Arguably the most ugly and the simultaneously the most aesthetically awesome thing an engineer can make. I keep one in my bank for lulz. In reality only a few zones require water breathing. Most quest can be done without.

+15 stamina at level 20 on a gnome.. Incase I havnt missed any other goggles, That is.. epic to say the least. :o [Edit] Youve got the lucky fishing hat, but that's harder to get.. Heh. Id perfer to have a level 20 gnome with +15 stam without having a friend run me through anything.

As of 7.0 you can no longer transmog this helm into other helms unless you're cloth. However if you had one transmoged since before the patch, it'll remains transmoged.

Edit: I found a work-around for this. Save a transmog set with the helm of your choice Change into the Deepdive helm, then load the transmog set Save!

Mostly puting this here for people who might be RPing a Death Knights and need a way to breath underwater.

This is only partially correct. The helmet was transmogrifiable before 8.2, but not anymore. Now it can only be transmogrified onto other items. I had just spent a lot of mats and time grinding so 3 characters could use this item for chilling underwater - up to the night before 8.2's release. Now every time they go underwater they have a metal burka stuck on their heads. Would appreciate if there was a way that Blizzard could cater to others without stepping on me - like letting me still be able to transmogrify this helmet even though its now a cosmetic-class item instead of cloth.

As far as transmogging goes, be aware, it isn't exactly "transmoggable" in the traditional sense. 1) In order to use it as a transmog, THAT toon has to be an engineer. 2) You can't make it on another toon, wear it to get the appearance, then use the appearance on a toon that is NOT an engineer. 3) You have to have level 230 engineering to use it as an appearance. I made this on my engineering toon in order to try and get the appearance for my main, who does NOT have engineering. That does not work. It WILL show up as an appearance, but you'll get a message that says: Deepdive Helmet Engineering (230) required to use this appearance. Rather disappointing. I get not allowing non-engineers to use engineering items for their actual purpose, in this case underwater breathing, but the appearance itself should be open for any toon once you've acquired it, regardless of professions.

you can use this macro to equip this helm and my running the macro again it will equip your previous equipped helmet, all the credits go to [url=https://www.wowhead.com/user=quthar]quthar[/url] who made this code:

[code]/run local c,e=10506,GetInventoryItemID('player',1)if c==e and DDH_PREVEQ then EquipItemByName(DDH_PREVEQ)DDH_PREVEQ=nil else DDH_PREVEQ=e and GetItemInfo(e)EquipItemByName(c)end[/code]

Can only be used by engineers with a lvl 230 engineer rating. I made these deepdive helmets for all my alts before I saw this little disclaimer "Requires engineering (230)." I thought wrongly that when engineers got to engineering level 230, they could make them for everyone. What a sick joke. My engineer can use it. I can sell it to lazy engineers at the auction. Just another Warcraft creator "gotcha." Really sick Warcrafters.
