The mats are steep, however very doable. There are BoP alternatives with the same proc, and since the weapon's damage is low compared to raid drops, the proc is all you would want. It has a nice speed, but the lack of stacks does not but over the proc. As a personal note: It doesn't stack as much as you'd want. Once every Molten Giant or Wyrmgaurd would be a stretch. The proc does stack with sunder armor.

The other 3 alternatives that have the -200 armor debuff have been nerfed over level 60 as of patch 2.4.1, where this one has not been nerfed. This one provides a 45 second debuff that stacks to 3 and refreshes on all stacks and re-applies. In testing with Seal of the Crusader it procc'ed every 5 to 8 swings and i was easily able to get it stacked to 3 and keep it there. I think its worth it if you can find the mats for cheap enough, especially for a pally tank thats not currently needed to tank.

As a prot paladin, there's relatively little I can do when I don't need to tank the boss, when my target is dead or when all I need to do is stand there and eat half a cleave. The other raid buff option, Nightfall, is getting nerfed in 2.4.2 (tests on the PTR have shown that it has a proc rate of <0.1% at lvl 70). If the Annihilator is viable, we'll have one very happy prot paladin.

The only question for this weapon is---does it stack with Faerie Fire?

The other armor old world armor reduction weapons were nerfed such that they can no longer stack with Faerie Fire back in patch 1.8.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/patch1p8.html
The Puncture Armor ability found on the Rivenspike, Bashguuder, Digmaster 5000, and Vibroblade will no longer stack with Faerie Fire.
Annihilator of course isn't mentioned on this nerf, and would have existed at the same time as these others...and the proc is different from the 30 sec debuff on the rivenspike and bashguuder, and the 100 armor debuff on digmaster and vibroblade. On Annihilator, the debuff lasts 45 sec and is called Armor Shatter.

I probably won't be getting this weapon, however, until someone can demonstrate whether or not this proc stacks with faerie fire...because otherwise it's useless if you have a feral or balance druid in the raid.

It does indeed stack with Faerie Fire live on 2.4.0 I have not had a chance to test it on the 2.4.1 PTR to make sure it isnt being nerfed. I'ts interesting to note the spell affect is listed as Shadow and the range is 30 Yards. Not sure how your supposed to hit your target from 30 yards... :)

Potentially a nice weapon for a 60-64 twink to have around; you can switch to it when in longer, heal intensive fights to drop a healers/EFCs armor very low, then switch back to your main weapon. The debuff is long enough to be useful in this regard.

note: does not stack with the debuff [spell=17315] from item [item=13204]. when dual wielding [item=12798] and [item=13204], the debuff from [item=13204] procs with more frequency. mine as well just dual weild two [item=13204] for best armor mitigation.
