Not worth it, in terms of material cost, but Speed Increase is the most OP enchant, imo. With so many encounters in BC requiring mobility (lurker, leotheras, al'ar, solarian, vashj, kael'thas, supremus, mother shahraz, illidari council, etc.) you can't afford to be without it. However, Boar's Speed is the most cost effective enchant. Get it; you won't regret it.

This enchant and Boar's Speed are sweet enchants for any melee dps class

The following is taken from the elitist jerks forums and focuses on enhancement shamans but applies for all melee classes It's a bit confusing, but if you read it carefully it makes sense:

For PvE, either [Enchant Boots - Boar's Speed] or [Enchant Boots - Cat's Swiftness] are going to be big payoffs. Increased run speed is hands down the best enchant you can get for PvE. Derivation:

Let D be your dps without a boot enchant. For the run speed to provide more benefit, we need:
(D+12A)(T-t) < (D+6A)(T-t/1.08)
which simplifies to
T < [(1-k)D + (2-k)6A]t/(6A)
where k = 1/1.08. For example, gives A = .16286, and so we have
T < (.07581D + 1.074) t
Using some actual data, a shaman that does betwen 900 and 1000 dps will have T < 76.88t
For 5 minutes, we would need t > 3.90 seconds and for 6 minutes we would need t > 4.68 seconds.

So for a 5 minute fight if you spend roughly 4 seconds moving between adds, running to the boss, etc, Run Speed provides a superior DPS benefit.

I'd say it's worth the mats (especially when the shards become more easily available in 2.4) and run speed is more fun than any other boot enchant anyways.

Actually very good in any fight were you need to move about, both for survivability and DPS. Come to think about it most fights forces you to move about for various reasons. If you're melee DPS, get this if you know you're going to use your boots for a while. Every time you get to your target a second quicerk means a lot of DPS in the end. Recommended.

Yeah, like the boar's speed this is really only useful in a pvp situation, where the extra speed is useful such as kiting, or catching up to those pesky kiters. Otherwise for PvE and end game raiding there are much better enchants for your boots such as Dexterity, Surefooted or Fortitude.

couldn't be further from the truth. this is currently the best PvE boot enchant for physical DPS classes.

In pvp a speed booster can actually make a huge difference. It can save your life--and especially worth it if you are carrying flags, wanna survive so you can heal the flag carrier, or wanting distance so you can stealth, or simply get away from melee attackers. Cat's swiftness or boar speed [item=35297] can both work in that way, and one may be more suitable depending on your class.

As a rogue, I would use this enchantment just to get to point A to B faster... and sometimes point B is safty. Take for example Firemaw: Some rogues (Depends on your strategy) had to run to a little niche behind firemaw to heal. You give up 5 agility for this enchantment (Compared to Dexterity [+12 Agility]). I think it's well worth living... or destroying an opponent faster.

Dropped for me in Nagrand, Kil'sorrow Fortress from a Kil'sorrow Deathsworn. After asking in trade veryone said that it was worth maybe 300g. I then sold for 1250g on the AH so if you do grab one go ahead and mark it up. Received lots of tells after it was on the AH, could probably have sold for more.

266904+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Feel Free to sell this on the AH for 7000g. Those who have the money and know how to make gold in the AH, will likely purchase this from you. How much the scroll enchant version sells for in your server ? On my server, some rare world drops scroll versions can sell for minimum 75g to 150g (scroll of enchant chest - greater stats). If whoever buys this from you plans to sell this enchant at the same price level, all they need to do is to buy from you at 7k gold then sell about 50 scrolls of cat's swiftness enchant on the AH and they have made their money back. Keep in mind Formula: Cat's Swi

Good enchant with both agility and a slight speed increase. On many servers though the mats for this will cost upwards of 200g. The primal airs can be farmed in shadowmoon without too much difficulty, but if you aren't an enchanter getting those shards may be tricky. I've seen them for 10-15g each on the AH.

Either that or run some instances and have the enchanter DE bop blues and roll for shards.

Not sure if the "minor speed increase" is worth the cost of gold/time required, because the +6 agility sure isn't worth it by itself. :-)

Just my personal opinion, of course, but I don't think its worth it to put this enchant on anything, let alone what people want for it on the AH (around 700-1000g on my server). Its simply not worth it. The only reason it sells for so much on the AH is its rarity, it surely can't be for the stats it gives when you put the enchant on your boots.

48892+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

The price is definitely steep, though if you spend a few hours you can get the 8 primal airs quite fast. For a druid though, 6 agility is 0,408% dodge / 0,24% crit. And +6 AP in cat form.

However, since you usually only want the run speed enchant for PvP anyways, I'd still suggest Boar's Speed too. 90 health (or 130 in bear form) ftw! ;D

95747+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Well of course it's expensive. But you shouldn't ever buy Primals. Spend a few hours farming those yourself and you've cut your AH cost of this enchant down to about 130g.

Also, don't forget to tip your 'chanter!!

NOTE TO THOSE CONSIDERING BUYING:

do not!!! can't stress that enough. come 2.4 this is a BOP formula off of kael! don't know the DR atm.. but i was about to throw 1250 into buying this (even though i want boar's speed more and can't find it on the AH ever.) and i certainly won't now.

282480+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Ok, I got this formula the other day from the scroll in ZA. There are no current ones on the AH and no one sells them in trade and I've never seen one on AH or being sold ever before so I have no idea of how much this is worth. So if someone could tell me a reasonable price on their servers or server they known would help a hell of a lot >_<

Please...

282480+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

At the moment there are no scroll of enchants for cat's swiftness of the AH. 7k g would sound about right but I actually never thought about how much it could sell for, and 7000g is a considerable amount most people. Thanks for the help ^_^ you made my day!

TADMG-1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

I had this drop for me yesterday. I went to Shatt trying to sell it, first few offers were 300g, then I started taking bids in Trade Channel. I ended up getting 900 gold for it, although kinda sucks now, if I had of been more patient, looks like I could have got about 1200-2000. At least from what people are saying to me, lol.
