http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/3302/pewpewzk8.jpg I do like the proc rate!
Just got this baby a few days ago, and having read about it, decided to make some tests. So, using procwatch and an item held in off hand, to just check hits from main hand, i came across the following results:
998 Hits
66 procsI was aiming for 1000 hits, BUT this is just an estimation, not the exact value, remember.
So, that gives us about 6,6132264% proc rate, estimated 6,6% proc rate. IMO this is very, very nice, and remember that even though sometimes it might seem that it doesn't proc that often, it's due to it's 2.6 speed and the combined procs of sword spec (if you have it) for BOTH hands. So just grab yourself some haste buffs and a shammy windfury totem next to you and watch that DPS fly =)
Got this some weeks ago from Steamvault Normal mode, been farming black morass för Lator's Shifting Sword and I finally got that one too.
This is worth as much as Vindicator since it procs ALOT, I've seen it proc twice one swing many times, and with sword spec you would be surprised if you didn't get an extra attack for each mob/enemy you were hitting.

If you're a combat rogue and you're using a 2.6 speed weapon in your off-hand, you're definitely hurting your DPS. You're typical combat rogue should have 5/5 Combat Potency. Which has a 20% chance to grant you 15 energy on a successful off-hand strike. Assuming you don't miss at all with your off-hand, a faster weapon is still better than a slower one. It's not the actual damage from the weapon that matters, but the bonus you receive from it. I know in my original post I mentioned only damage, but I was trying to throw in the fact that they said they were a combat rogue. Your duration
Received this today out of a Big Crate of Salvage.
Thanks for the info :) Procwatch only tracks white damage, which corresponds to your 998 hits. Did you use special attacks like sinister strikes during your test as well? If so the procrate may be slightly overevaluated.
Yes, i thought of that too, and i did use sinister strike, so i was thinking about a 5% proc rate, though if it is a chance on hit I don't think special attacks make any difference at all, hence the proc is correct. However, if it's a PPM, then there might be a little overevaluation due to instant attacks, and on that case, i'll aim for the 5% proc. Thanks for the heads up mate.
I like the idea of Blink in your main-hand. But having Vindicator in your off-hand is kind of hindering your dps. As a combat rogue it's always best to have a fast weapon in your off-hand. Something around 1.50-1.80. Not only will it help with more poison procs, but the mis-rate on your off-hand is significantly higher. So you're actually doing more dps with more chances to hit but a lower amount of dmg. And I typically like Mongoose enchant for melee dps in main-hand, and if you have money or resources, mongoose in off-hand is good too. But if not, +15 agility is probably your best bet
Yes, that is the best Hemo weapon currently in game and most of the people that post on this forum will never see, much less own, one of these beauties. However, even weapons as slow as 2.7 (possibly even 2.6) are still considered Hemo-viable. **Please note that I am not saying they are raid-viable with a Hemo spec (Hemo is no longer a raid viable spec due to the introduction of Combat Potency and the lack of 2.8 and 2.9 speed weapons)** Hemo is still a great PvP spec because it has faster CP generation and higher AP than an SS build. This higher AP (and I mean much higher, Sinister Calling an
The idea of hemo is that it isn't normalized, so with a slow weapon and high AP you will hit harder than with sinister strike. The problem with hemo now is that blizzard refuses to make slow weapons (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32837 is the first weapon I've seen that I would call a hemo weapon, and I don't count on getting it ever), and that there are so many ways to increase sinister strike damage, with none of them increasing hemo damage (aggression, surprise attacks, lethality, T6 bonus, etc.). If you want to do the maximum amount of damage per hit, hemo is no longer the way to go.
Yes. The extra attack will proc off of a Reckoning extra swing, and a swing that also procs Reckoning.
Yeah I had one drop so I bought a second one to see what it would be like duel wielding 2 of em. But I the other rogue in my raid, out dps's me with a blue off hand that is faster. You can offset this by not getting combat potency but I dont think you can keep up ur dps as much with a slower offhand. I would suggest getting a fast offhand like the merciless gladiators blade.
Combat sword rogues benefit much more from a fast OH than this sword, because of combat potency procs (and to a lesser extend, poison procs and sword spec procs). So, Blinkstrike + Latros (or any fast sword for that matter) >> 2x Blinkstrike for combat rogues, not even considering the amount of luck and gold you would need to buy 2 of them.
You are totally wrong in part about "more dps with slower weapon in off-hand". Let me explain... All numbers not real and for instance: Imagine that you have 60 seconds and two off-hands wtih 100 dps - 1.0 speed and 2.0 speed. 10% miss chance. In these 60 seconds you can make 60 hits with fast off-hand and 30 with slow. Lets count miss chance. 60-10%=54 hits 30-10%=27 hits Slow weapon does 200 damage per swing, faster one 100 (dps on both is similiar). So total damage: 54*100=5400dmg 27*200=5400dmg
If you're a Fury Warrior who can get this, it is a very difficult weapon to replace for your main hand. If you are considering buying it, then I promise you it will be a sound investment! The only problem is finding the right off hand for it.
If you're stupid like me you didn't skill up Blacksmithing to create the epic off hand sword. I'm stuck duel wielding this with Latro's Shifting Sword, which isn't bad mind you, it’s a great off hand sword and will take you far! But Blinky will last you for much longer.
However, I do not suggest getting Mongoose on this, Rogues can benefit from it more than Fury Warriors, we already got Flurry which can be up most of the time, and if you get the trinket from Gruul's Lair you're set for life in terms of haste procs. Even if you only have the trinket from Normal Mech, its more than enough to keep your haste going when needed.
I’d suggest getting Potency on this and your off hand together. Its cheaper, and good guildies can just give you the mats for it, as they aren’t much anything that isn’t normally with an enchanter anyway. The lack of stats "could" hurt your overall DPS if your lacking it in other places (Like I am) and besides +20str never hurt anyone who wasn't on the receiving end of a Fury Warrior's Weapon!
in 2.3 whirlwind now hits with offhand aswell
Im currently Dual Wielding these on my Fury Warrior.
Have been doing so for a long time. The total price i payed for the 2 of them amounts to about 4k gold total. And i can say it has been well worth it. They are both enchanted with mongoose.
My Armory Profile can be found here:
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Hellscream&n=Hateblow
NOTE: I like to fool around with different type of weapons. Even if they happen to be really low lvl etc. I just grinded myself the Ironfoe weapon that has 2 extra hit procs on it. Been playing around with its proc lately even at lvl 70. So the armory might show different weapons every now and then.
Dual Wielding these weapons has a some bad points. If you dont have enough hit/crit rating youre gonna be strugling with DPS. So minimize your misses and get some nice crit and these weapons will be great.
If you happen to be as lucky as teaming up with a Druid tank and enhancement Shaman on an instance run, I can guarantee you that you will love the insane DPS. (Your tank and healer might not however :P )
Most items with procs like this are based on a "proc per minute" calculation, so the actual percentage proc rate is different for weapons of differing speeds. The percentage proc rate would be higher for slower weapons and lower for faster weapons.
I've seen a major price decrease on these since people can now buy S1 weapons with honor.
~1,000 average on Bonechewer
Couldn't resist buying this in Trade channel for 1000g. As a prot warrior I like to take time out from the tanking role, drop my usual combination and equip this in my MH with Blazefury in my OH for solo grinding. With Executioner on BS, Mongoose on BF, and Darkmoon cards Madness and Wrath it's a proctastic buff fest. Just makes spamming devastate a constant smile and rapidly alternating heroic strike and devastate as a rage dumper can produce fantastic dps. BS procs usually at least once every mob, mostly more than once. Quite often you get a double proc and if you are real lucky you might see this in your combat log..........
You hit mob for ???
You gain 1 extra attack through Blinkstrike
You gain 1 extra attack through Blinkstrike
You hit mob for ???
You gain 1 extra attack through Blinkstrike
You gain 1 extra attack through BlinkstrikeA double double, nice :)
Edit Lol, charged a lvl 71 skettis surger and it died instantly, when i checked my combat log there was a double blinkstrike proc followed by a single hit then a tripple blinkstrike proc.
does anyone know if blinkstrike, sword spec, and windfury all stack?
thx for proc rate info, but that eviscerate was pretty bad, but I may be (Just a little) off topic
It's not just combat potency - it's poisons on your off-hand. Using instant or anesthesitic poison on your off-hand makes up for 3-4% of your DPS. Using a slow weapon cuts that in half.
Agreed, the combat log with this weapon is just crazy. Its like a reckoning bomb at times.
As a combat rogue, I mysteriously pulled aggro and died instantly on a heroic SV run recently. I could not figure out what happened until the combat log showed six hits on one attack from an insane combo of Blinkstrike and 5/5 sword spec proccing off each other. Got a screenshot of it, to follow soon.
2x Blinkstrike, Hand of Justice, Sword Specialization, Wind Fury and lots of haste.
Recently picked one of these up in a dungeon, and it now provides 18 Multistrike rating rather than the chance on hit proc.
Since gold and unique item rewards have been removed from garrison crates, I don't believe this is available from them now. If you want this item for transmog you will need to farm it from mobs or find it on the auction house.
In Warlords of Draenor, with the addition of multistrike, the weapons stats in-game have been changed to an 18 multistrike stat, replacing the 6.6% extra hit proc, which should be the same as the original chance. Because i just pulled this item, I will be probably doing some tests on the item.
Items with extra attacks was changed to +multistrike in a previous patch. As of patch 6.1, these items have been changed back to chance on hit: extra attack.
DPS Warrior will go insane but lost of stats. Flurry + Windfury totem from shaman + Haste buff + Sword Spec warrior 25/36/0... All proc.. wow... You will see a bunch of spam damage numbers on top of your screen.
@ thean. You're thinking too much. This weapon only has one speed.
um correct me if im wrong, if it was chaged to PPM the proc will be a bit lower - 4.61538% correct me if im wrong
dropped in normal steamvaults for my group. right before the last boss
You would never want to OH blinkstrike as a warrior. Since about 1/3 of your attacks are special attacks, you'll never see the proc off those. You're basically wasting the proc if you OH this weapon.
Main hand this and OH something else.
Technically, the Gladiator Weapon is better all around, not just in DPS. Personally, I'll be running a Gladiator Slicer MH, with a Latro's OH. Even in the OH, the Gladiator Weapon is still better. Basically, Blinkstrike is more for looks now. Weapons easier to achieve are better then it.
Yes, if you play a good rogue then these will help you top the DPS meter significantly, especially if you don't want to farm honor to buy S1 weapons. That being said, I'm not sure if I would recommend this as better or even equal to the S1 rogue mainhand. Gladiator's Slicer 189 - 285 Damage Speed 2.60 (91.2 damage per second) +21 Stamina Equip: Improves hit rating by 9 (0.57% @ L70). Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 15 (0.68% @ L70). Equip: Improves your resilience rating by 10 (0.25% @ L70). Equip: Increases attack power by 28. vs. Blinkstrike 147 - 275 Damage Speed 2.60 (81.2 d
I always wondered, how are weapons like these for Prot warriors? I know that with Devastate and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=17705 I would almost never run out of rage - I seemed to get Thrash to proc often enough to make up for the rage I was eating while spamming Devastate when soloing, and the extra threat/DPS/rage meant I could toss in more Heroic Strikes between Devastates when tanking. Is it worth grabbing this weapon for a tank at 70?
I Currently have been using this beautiful blade on my Prot Pally and stack the Reckoning with the Blinkstrike and Crusader, it guarantees proc for me at least with 50% "Exaggeration" proc due to speed of reckoning in multiple hits at one, iv had crusader ignite 5x in 7 hits. imo this blade is scary for other classes. Level 76 Prot Pally. and i bought mine for 150g lol
Just dropped today for me in Tempest Keep. It dropped off one of the mobs in the first hallway just inside the entrance. I've never seen it there before, nor is it mentioned in the list so thought I'd drop a note. All and all I'd prefer the ashes, but will be back next week to try for those....
A Razorthorn Ravager just dropped it today when I was doing the Rediscovering Your Roots quest. This monster is not even on this list, but I wanted to let you know in case you want to go farm for it.
Droppped on Sunwell Plauteau
Yup, but might be instance only. Friend of mine found this also, in an instance.
Poor guildie, I sold mine for 4000g buyout.
I have seen a rogue duel wielding this baby with mongoose on both and the proc actually procs mongoose also... its quite simply an awsome weapon and is well worth whatever price its on your AH for, My server Nordrassil EU has it up for 1200G normally but have seen it for upwards of 1700G
Generally speaking, I subscribe to the Slow MH, Fast OH theory for weapons, and it works fine for me. Since that post, I've gotten the S2 Off Hand fist Weapon (I picked it for the looks, it called to me.) I also have Prince's Axe, and generally, I just don't like playing with two slow weapons, but it’s just a matter of taste. Bear in mind however, that Prince's Axe, only has some bonus crit, and Blinkstrike has no other stats besides the Chance on hit and whatever you enchant it with. If you're using this weapon, I really recommend you off hand (or main hand) something with some nice stats
Actually, Blinkstrike makes a great offhand if you want to take advantage of an equal-speed mainhand (Prince's axe, Illhoof's mace, etc). I didn't do any testing but that extra hit from flurry might be worth having a slower offhand.
How would this as a MH compare to the now quite easily obtained Gladiator Weapons for a Fury Warrior?
Blinkstrike:
147 - 275 Damage Speed 2.60
(81.2 damage per second)
Chance on hit: Grants an extra attack on your next swing (probably 5%)Vs.
Gladiator Weapon:
189 - 285 Damage Speed 2.60
(91.2 damage per second)
+21 Stamina
Equip: Improves hit rating by 9 (0.57% @ L70).
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 15 (0.68% @ L70).
Equip: Improves your resilience rating by 10 (0.25% @ L70).
Equip: Increases attack power by 28.What's best?
Blinkstrike + S1
or
S1 + S1?
They don't stack, but they can proc off of each others extra attacks. For instance: Normal attack hits and procs BS then windfury procs off the BS extra attack and so forth. I assumed you were asking if the proc chances add up, if so the answer is no. But the procs can proc off each other. EDIT: I haven't been able to confirm whether or not they can all proc off a single normal attack at the same time, but I assume that that the first extra attack would consume to proc for BS and any other single extra attack procs, and the second would consume windfury. So basically if more than one poc
yes they do stack,so you get double procs
