The spell haste rating of 280 on this weapon means that at level 70 you cast spells about 18% faster for the duration.

With the change to haste ratings it's now 26.63% faster at level 70.

This is dps boost, comparable to priest's Power Infusion (20%). Save AP for when this baby procs and you won't regret it :D

Commenting about building too much aggro is a moot point. All casters want as much damage as possible in as short of a time possible, aggro be damned. If you can pump out enough damage, one could one-shot Vaelastrasz. Besides, death in wow means nothing, any money lost due to broken items can be re-farmed.

One dropped for me underneath Manaforge Ultris in the access shaft while I was doing the corpse-burning quest. Procs just about every fight, and couples with my build rather nicely as it suffers from pretty slow shadowbolts.

With the new patch, the spell haste has been increased by 50%, to roughly 30% faster casting now.

can anyone confirm whether this also procs on the cast of Dot-Spells. I know it does not (and should not) proc of the ticks, but does it proc on the cast?

I've read on the forums that this also procs off of Polymorph. That being said I can only assume it procs off dots as well considering they're more harmful than polymorph is.

Harmful just means that it's cast on an enemy target. A beneficial spell would be used on party members or other friendly players. :-)

Yes, it does. This dropped for me inside SL the other day (woot), and it even procs off the cast of Curse of Shadows. Doesn't even necessarily have to do damage, in my experience. The proc animation for this is pretty nice

Did he say anything about Beneficial spells?! He meant DOTS! U know like Shadow word: Pain and such. DOT stands for: Damage over time and has nothing to do with a beneficial spell. -.-

All know what DOT stand for, and he explained that harmful is casted on enemies so he answered the question and then he just added the opposit so people know.

Just got it from a Crashing Wave-Spirit while farming Mote of Water... got it day after i got my BE warlock to 70. Damn, still have the happy joy feeling ^^

just bought it for 1800g, procs alot, makes my frostbolts 1.96 second casts (or somthing of the sort). To lazy to do the math but at that rate, i beleive it is better than having the gladiators spellsword.

You don't really have to do the math, just read the FB tooltip when it procs.

Is this just a general world drop off of ANY level 70 mob? because I'm sick of farming elementals in nagrand and shadowmoon valley.

This is defenatly a world drop. And it's an imba thing, it procs a friggin lot, it procs off stuff like curse of tongues aswell, which surprised me ;). Pretty sure I've seen it proc off lifetap too.

definetly a world drop, and yes, this procs off everyhting harmful, even sheep and spellsteal....

lifetap has been confirmed not to cause threat so I imagine it doesn't classify as an harmful spell - thus no proc

Picked one of these up. I don't think it's as high as some have said. It's definately not a 15% proc rate unless I've been very unlucky. It's more likely between 5 and 10%. Still pretty good.

It does have a 15% procrate however it can proc no more often than every 30 seconds.

I tested it manually by casting a few thousand Polymorph Rank 1 with an addon timing and counting everything.

This leads to an actual procrate significantly lower than 15%, the faster your spell of choise the lower the procrate. Since you will be casting more spells during the 30 seconds where it cannot proc.

This maybe changed, because when ther was 2.4.3 I am sure it was procing very often for my destro lock. Combined with meta gem with chance on increasing spellcast speed I was oom in few seconds :D

Got it in Kara last night!! amazing in my opinion! Procs all the time! i can spam frostbolt and with this proc it makes my frostbolt a 1.5 sec cast, and i can get about 3-4 of them off before i lose the proc.

Got it today off AH on the new server Auchindoun, paid alot more than 1000 gold for it, but it was worth it imo. Proc is godly, getting Quagmire's trinket next.

I got my Quagmirran's Eye last night and when both proc at the same time it is insane. Even better when they both proc off the same spell :D

Visible spell effect around the caster upon proc is a faint blue ring of short blue light waves that emanate out from the caster in almost a perfect circle. (see screenshot) The buff icon upon proc looks like a mini-screenshot of the actual glowing sword, and NOT like the item icon in your bag. (see screenshot) The sword also casts a faint yellow glow underneath you at all times, whether sheathed or drawn. This yellow glow is also noticable during low flight, our while mounted, and while swimming over objects. It is not visible if there isn't an object below you. Of note, this sword is VERY bright, and may draw unwarranted attention to you in PVP, which is bad. But it also may draw unwarranted attention to you while walking around anywhere else, causing oohs and aahs, which is nice.

if you have MQG,QE,BoW,Berserk (trolls only) and a shammy to cast on you samo Bloodlust your cast will be just about 0,5-0,6sec (for frostbolt) ....

yeah but having all of that combined would be such a waste waiting for global cooldown. You'd feel more useless than a warrior trying to pull multi-mob aggro on trash. =(

Bloodlust reduces the global CD, and *possibly* MQG (haven't put it back on since TBC). Quagmirran's Eye, troll Berzerking, and this sword do not.

It dropped for me off a level 68 Warp-Gate Engineer in Netherstorm two weeks ago... and I'm a mage. O_o Basically one extra frostbolt each time it procs (~15%). Slapped a +40 Spellpower enchant on it and add some Superior Wizard Oil (+42 spell dmg) and I'm golden. Great dps combo with The Saga of Terokk in off-hand (+28 spell dmg). /Dilwen on Lothar

This thing is amazing. I got mine for 2250g, but it was worth every bit. It procs a lot, and it stacks with my meta gem (the one with 5% chance to proc 50% faster cast time). I don't have QE yet, but I hope to get it soon. Man, if I knew spell haste items like this would be in the game, I would've made a troll mage lol. It can proc off ANY spell. I've had it proc when I conjure food/water, when I buff people, and even when I open portals. Another combo I love now is when a shaman uses bloodlust on a boss. The increased spell casting speed from bloodlust plus my meta gem and this sword makes my fireballs cast so fast, it seems like I'm casting scorch.

did anyone do a comparison of which sword is better: blade of wizardry vs. blade of the archmage and blade of wizardry vs. Nathrezim Mindblade ? i have the blade of the archmage, and it shouldnt be too long until i have access to the mindblade. question is of course, if its still worthwhile to spend 3k gold on the blade of wizardry.

Dropped for us tonight off Aran. He was wielding it when we faced him. I would assume if you see a mob running around with this sword, do whatever you can to drop him. It's not on Aran's standard loot table, anyway, so maybe that's a clue as to whether it'll drop or not.

Bought this on Shadowsong horde side for 2500g. Being a destruction warlock and as far as I can tell, this is not the best spell dmg weapon but surely, the proc makes it worth all that I've paid for it. Especially in long boss fights it boosts your DPS to hell.

Had this drop off of a random mob in the Black Morass last night. Other than the lack of stats, I love this blade!

With the spell haste nerf in 2.1, I don't think this blade will be worth the cost that I and a lot of other people paid for it. According to what I read, pre 2.10, 1% spell haste = 10.5 spell haste rating; as of now, on PTR, 1% spell haste = 25 spell haste rating. Anyone have an idea of how much spell haste rating would equal one point of spell damage in patch 2.1? c'mon you math wiz kids..i know you're out there :)

First, it doesn't always work like that. In PvP, you seldomly be standing in one place and cast enough spells to gain a proc, and even if you did, you probably won't be needing it in that 6 second time frame. In normal instance, most mobs dies within 4-5 casts, so the improvement isn't great. Thus, the spell haste effect may only be a visible difference during PvE raids. ------- Now assume 25 Haste Rating = 1% faster. And you're casting fireball (3.0 seconds). 280 haste rating is 11.2% faster 3.0 * (1 - 0.112) = 2.66. So we use a easy number, say: you cast 10 fireball (30 seconds not counting

It doesn't work that way. Spell Haste, Crit, and Hit are all scaling affects. The more +spell damage you have the more valuable the above three become.

Assuming above is correct and 25 spell haste = 1% 25 Haste = 1% off your spell cast time = per 100 casts you get 101. 250 haste = 10% off cast time = per 10 casts you get 11. And so on.
