Righteous hammer? It's got 66.6 DPS!
You are quite wrong. While the weapon isn't bad for balance druid and could find some use on shaman ... it's still nothing special for them. The stam is nice, but 1H + offhand or especially shield (in case of sham) will typically outstat it... Who gain benefit from this then? Yes, paladin ... Of course not retribution, its slow melee dmg you want for SoC ... but for SoR this weapon is SUPERIOR. Why? because SoR gives different % of spelldmg for 1H and 2H. Obviously more for 2H. To put it simple: two weapons, 1H and 2H, with exactly same speed and spelldmg. -> SoR will hit for more with t
Paladins either use high DPS 2 handers with retri specc or 1hander+shield with a holy specc. This is a mix between both. Its not useful for grinding compared to other 2handers or 1handers+shield, its not good for pvp and its horrible for PvE scince it lacks crit and the armor from a shield. Its horrible for shamans scince they too want to either wield shield+1hander for spell damage aswell as high deff or a 2hander with as high DPS as possible. Elemental Shamans with 2 handers should be shot, and there are much better staffs from raids anyway.
Some of you seem to get what this weapon is designed for: Moonkin/Balance druids. This weapon is utterly useless for any melee class, including Shamans and Paladins, and the only class that can use two handed maces that benefits from spell damage and dont benefit from weapon DPS are druids. A balance druid benefits from all stats and its equal to a staff with similar stats.
Now normaly this would be useless for Druids aswell scince there are waaaay better casters staffs for any raiding druid, but there is one thing that makes this weapon useful, Binds on Equip. This is a very solid choice for any balance druid who does not have access to Kara or other raids, and for various reasons doesnt want to or cant get the Arena staff. 157 spell damage with awsome PvP stats is much better than any instance weapon. Scince this is ONLY ever useful to a Balance Druid I cant imagine that you're gonna have to pay much for one of those.
The only thing that confuses me is the name, which clearly indicates that this would be a Paladin weapon, and the wepaon design kinda matches the Paladin Tier 4-5, not sure which (the one with all the purple sparkly stuff). Im not sure what the hell they were thinking, but this is not in any way a paladin weapon, even if it can be an uppgrade from a crappy blue weapon there are much better epics (and blues) that can be achieved without too much effort.

On the plus side, with Transmogrification incoming, this weapon can finally see some use. Even if just to steal its skin.
It looks very unique, no other weapon that shares this skin, and it doesnt look half-bad at that.
I´m so tired of hearing abour Moonkins haveing Manatrouble. This is NOT true. As a balance druid with proper build = 47/0/14 you have all the manaregen you need. I drink maybe once in a dungeon, and never have to use pots. I can always keep my Innervate for the healer or in rare occasion a mage. There are no such things as Ooomkin today, infact I would state that Balance druids are fare superior to any mage when it comes to keep casting in long fights. This whole oomkin and some other stupid asumptions from players about balance druids is what makes us so rearely seen. Anyway, this weapon
I have a prot specced pally and I think this would be a good weapon for me to use against caster type mobs when shield block is worthless. The fast speed helps to get three extra hits from reckoning and it has the stats I need when I drop my shield.
Actually this weapon is underestimated.
Here is some math:
x - is your total spell dmg including all enchants, excluding weapon and shieldlets compare it with Arena1 1h mace and Arena3 shield (199 and 35 spell damage) using SoR.
(x + 168) * 10.8% = (x + 199 + 35) * 9.2%
x*10.8% + 18.144 = x*9.2% + 21.528
x*1.6% = 21.528 - 18.144
x = 211.5 spell damage.that means the is you you have MORE than 211.5 spell dmg from gear this weapon will add more to your SoR.
Lets try to compare with the best 1hand i've found http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34176 and the best shield http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30909
that will be 266 + 42 spell dmg.(x + 168) * 10.8% = (x + 266 + 42) * 9.2%
x*10.8% + 18.144 = x*9.2% + 28.366
x*1.6% = 28.366 - 18.144
x = 637 spell damage.so if you have 637 or more spell dmg for the rest of your gear thats THE BEST WEAPON IN GAME for use with SoR.
As you know 637 spell dmg is not that much, even healers can achive it.for Arena3 weapon and shield
x=487.5 spell dmg.Trogvar @ haomarush
P.S.
same math for [Hammer of the Naaru] http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28800
(x + 33) * 10.8% = (x + 266 + 42) * 9.2%
x*10.8% + 3.564 = x*9.2% + 28.366
x*1.6% = 28.366 - 3.564
x = 1550.125 spell damage.
This weapon is a dps improvement vs. sword/mace+shield while farming single target mobs as a holy paladin because seal of righteousness receives a better spell damage coefficient from a two-hander.
I've got around 800 spell damage in my farming gear. In my unscientific test I came up with these numbers while single mob farming using seal of righteousness:
Using Stormcaller+Spellbreaker's Buckler I averaged ~340dps
Using Hammer of Righteous Might I average ~375dps
sadly there seem to be no equivalent lvl 80 weapon.
This weapon...
IS FOR PROT PALLY 2h TANKING! YES!!!
Raid bosses being tankadin'd with this weapon:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XfewXFKNpM
I have to agree. With those stats, it would be a phenomenal tanking weapon for a paladin, IF it were a 1-hander. As it stands, it's an underwhelming Holy grinding weapon or an underwhelming Balance weapon. Not sure about weapon desires of the modern shammy, but I imagine they can get better as well.
And that's the bottom line - this weapon is best designed AND ROCKS for SHOCKADINS! 'nuff said
Alright now imo this is for paladins best fit to this build, http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sxy0Mxu0xsZxGzhRc0g
when i was leveling up i used something close to it, it was the best thing I have seen for killing anything that attacks fast rogues, hunters, fury warriors, or anything using 1 handers, anyways since the attack speed is 2.1 u use all of Reckonings charges with SoR which procs on every hit, unlike SoC since vengeance uses spell dmg too, stack them up, judge and change back to SoR and you will see the large dps i was doing like 2k a swing no crits, without this nice weapon, and all greens, the more spell dmg u get the better, or with full +healing you will have huge heals and nice spell dmg, test it you may like what you see, sry for the long post enjoy >:)
ps. the bubble + reckoning = fun
actually i have seen a video of a pally tanking with this weapon(and not just KZ) she tanks various SSC and TK bosses (edit: didnt realize i left out the link ;p) http://modenstudios.com/invisusira/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=64&Itemid=32
Seal of Righteousness Spelldmg coefficients (Weaponspeed*Spellcoefficient)*100 Gavel of Unearthed Secrets (1 hander mechanics): (2,7*0,09)*100 = 24,3% Hammer of Righteous Might (2 hander mechanics): (2,2*0,11)*100 = 24,2% Same holy dmg - only faster.
"The fast speed helps to get three extra hits from reckoning" It's a common mistake that if you don't use all of your Reckoning swings, it's a waste. Reckoning boils down to a haste effect, it just works differently. Let's say you have a 1.0 speed weapon with 50 damage a swing, and a 4.0 speed weapon with 200 damage a swing. (Both have the same DPS) The 1.0 speed weapon will get a total of 400 damage out of reckoning, consuming all four charges in 4 seconds. The 4.0 speed weapon, however, will get a total of 800 damage. I hope this dispels some of the misunderstandings.
Agreed, in fact this is the only such spelldamage weapon at all. One addition though, the lack of fast spelldamage twohanders have actually hindered proper ret builds from using SoR to a degree, but with this weapon (if it gets buffed somewhat, or if more buffed ones gets created) it becomes much more viable to gear for; SoR doesn't scale with getting a high dps twohander, but as you wrote it scales immensely with a high spelldamage twohander (About 12.4% of your spelldamage per second using Imp SoR) Just the spelldamage of this weapon adds about 20 holy dps to SoR and 17 to JoR, before multi
It's amusing that people don't seem to realise how useful for damage output this weapon would be for a SoR-using paladin: shockadin, ret heavy on SD or other combinations. But all the better if that makes it cheaper on the AH. :)
I was about to go into a long rant about why, but the increased base damage and coefficients described earlier should really be enough too see why a sword+shield produces less damage. The speed doesnt hurt either, esp for builds using vengeance.
While I agree Reckoning is nice, if you want damage output with that mace, the standard Shockadin build would be your Best Friend: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sVEh0gz0eoxZVbGxh0z
Admittedly, it could perhaps use a slight buff in the spell damage department, but it's got some pretty solid stats, it's great for a shockadin, 15mp5 is huge.
This is currently the only viable 2H weapon available to shockadins. Yes, you lose out on some spell damage from having, say, a Gladiator's Gavel + Spell dmg shield, but the base holy dmg done by Seal of Righteousness is 41% higher on a 2H weapon and the spell dmg coefficient is 17.4% higher on a 2H weapon also, that's a significant boost for Shockadin DPS.
Yes, its not for everyone, but now there's a 2H spell dmg weapon option for paladins (who can't use staves).
Sorry champ, a ret build isn't going to work with a 66 dps weapon. This is for SoR, that doesn't mean SoR is better than command or blood for raiding.
actually i have done melee moonkin spec its pretty fun ;p i had like 2789 AP and my highest hit was 4567 on a priest >.>
It's a world drop
You seem to be missing the point of the comment you replied to. See anything... ironic about an item called Hammer of the RIGHTEOUS might being 66.6 dps?
This is a PvP holy shock paladin weapon.
For the sole reason that it has got loads of stamina and intellect, low DPS, and a load of spelldamage and mana regen. There is no other class or spec that would benefit more from it than a HS paladin.
Got this today on my shockadin (40-0-21), full Lamellar S1 + Vindicator (880 spelldmg, 28% Holy Crit), and I must say, it rocks!
Replacing the Gladiator's Gavel + Draenei Honor Guard Shield with this made me lose 1% holy crit and 52 spelldmg (now I'm around 835 holy dmg and 27.5% holy crit - got S2 gloves).
The average hits with SoR up go for around 500-600 total (melee + holy dmg), each.
Tried it in pvp, not much difference from gavel+shield, probly shield can mitigate a bit more from melees, but where this wins is the fact that you can go PvP and fool pretty much everyone into thinking you're Ret, while in fact you're about to face melt for 5k from 20 yards away ;D
About the price.. just had to buy the primal might's, got some guildies to transmute a couple, farmed the metal and had the nethers lying around from some heroics. Not that expensive, by today's money making standards.

Overall, great choice and good fun!
I picked up this recipe during BC back when I was messing around with a shockadin build. With 4.3 coming up and transmogrification coming, I am looking forward to reskinning my [item=59492] to this beauty. The 3D model doesn't do it enough justice, since the three crystals rotate around the top, connected by sparks. Now I just have to go and farm up some Khorium....
Unless you spam Moonfire I don´t really see why you would have all this problem and in long fights we share the need for a Shadow Priest with other casters such as Mages anyway. And Attackbonus to Moonkin form that soem people have mentioned is just an eye catcher anyway. When you go into melee as a Moonkin you know you´ve done something wrong in the first place anyway. Sure it´s not a terrible weapon but the lack of +crit makes it fair subpar as a moonkin weapon.
Grab any one of the available PvP polearms, even the old blue honor points painsaw would be better for you... the 30ish DPS difference negates the benifit from the spell damage. You would kill the mob quicker especially with reckoning procs and would have less of a need for the intellect or MP/5. To make up the DPS difference would require judging pretty much whenever the cooldown is up in order to maximize the item points budgeted for this. The problem is it is horribly mana inefficent to do so, especially for a prot pally not getting healed by an outside source. Would be better off judging
I had this mace crafted a month or two ago, and I simply love it! I'm working on a spell dmg Ret/Holy/Prot build and using the Lamellar plate from PvP. I've been able to sustain 500 dps in Kara without worrying about going OOM, and off-heal when needed without gear swaps (great for bad pulls when most Ret pallys would be in AP/Str DPS gear). I'm expecting those numbers to go up considerably once I dump the rest of my blues.
Check out Trickzee @ Gorefiend on WowArmory if you're curious.
I'm a Healadin. Prior to this hammer, putting together a grinding set consisted
of moonlighting as a retadin during dailies with a reliance on AP and CS.
That arrangement sacrificed all the assets I'd enhanced with talents and epic gear.
With this hammer, I retain those assets, (mana pool, +heals/spell dmg/crit etc)
I also don't have to carry around a 2nd set of gear, so I have more bag space available.
It swings rather fast for a two-hander so I can apply SoV rather quickly getting
about 325 dmg a tick at 5 applications over the 150 base on what I'd call
'hard targets' otherwise, I'd use SoR on 'soft targets'. If you're looking for a grinding two-hander
that will let you play your strengths and provide efficient soloing to a healing
spec, this hammer will do that.
It will probably never recover its cost, but it's a quality-of-life issue. As a Holy paladin, this is probably the next big thing I'll be saving for after my epic mount, because it will make solo questing and such far less painful(ly slow) than with my Oathkeeper.
at the time i read this post, you had +66....
You obviously dont know moonkin, in any long distance fight a moonkin always has mana issues. On short fights moonkin can blow all their mana and drink... pretty much all fights are short fights till you start raiding. Once you get into raiding you REQUIRE a shadow priest (a draenei one is better still) or a shaman to be in your group or both. Its true we are less of an oomkin than before, but our longevity issues are still apparent.
Edit: Had a mistake in my math.
Anyway, I'm a tankadin and my solo/pvp/pve DPS is based on SoR and high +spell damage. Here's my math comparing Stormcaller/Mazorthil to HoRM. From my calculations, even though HoRM has slightly less + spell than that sword/board combo, it outputs much more DPS.
Let me know if there's a discrepancy in my calculations. Also, I had it nicely formatted, but these posts don't support tabs and leading spaces. :(
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DPS/AoE Grinding Gear
Base +Spell: 500
Sword/Board: 222
Total +Spell: 722
Attack Power: 450
SoR Coefficient: 9.2% / 1.0 weapon speed
Total Coefficient: 1.8 * 9.2% = 16.56%
Dmg of SoR: 16.56% * 722 ~= 120
Min Dmg of Sword: ((30 / 1.8) + (450 / 14)) * 1.8 ~= 88
Max Dmg of Sword: ((119 / 1.8) + (450 / 14)) * 1.8 ~= 177
Min Dmg: 88 + 120 = 208
Max Dmg: 177 + 120 = 297
DPS = ((208 + 297) / 2) / 1.8 ~= 140
HoRM: 208
Total +Spell: 708
Attack Power: 450
SoR Coefficient: 10.8% / 1.0 weapon speed
Total Coefficient: 2.1 * 10.8% = 22.68%
Dmg of Sor: 22.68% * 708 ~= 161
Min Dmg of HoRM: ((93 / 2.1) + (450 / 14)) * 2.1 ~= 161
Max Dmg of HoRM: ((186 / 2.1) + (450 / 14)) * 2.1 ~= 254
Min Dmg: 161 + 161 = 322
Max Dmg: 254 + 161 = 415
DPS = ((322 + 415) / 2) / 2.1 ~= 176
Does anyone have a screenshot of this item? Wondering how it looks like, hopefully not some random low level mace skin.
All this is is a stat stick. It's basically a staff, probably directed more toward Balance Druids and Elemental Shamans. Up until this came out, there were only two other spell DPS weapons, one was a dagger and the other a sword, this is supposed to be the 2h among those. It's a stat stick, nothing more.
Ah ha! With 66.6 DPS, the weapon's true meaning has been revealed.
It's for a blood elf holy paladin! Alliance, please stay away from this one.
Balance druids are the only ones who can realy use this without making sacrifices. Ele shamans and paladins who dont wear shields are sacrificing an extra enchant slot, not to mention half their armor. I think the point of this weapon is to give balance druids something to call their own.
What a waste of time this weapon is. Ret. Paladins will want something that stacks strength and has high weapon damage, Moonkin and Elemental Shamans will want something that has +crit, and for a Holy Paladin, the time and money necessary to farm for something like this would be totally a waste, considering you would only use it...for farming.
Is this blizzard's attempt to throw us a bone for making all the caster swords ridiculously overpowered and the opposite for every caster mace, making moonkins and shamans feel neglected in itemization? Because it's not working.
At the point where the only way I can rly tank normal instances now is with a 2hander (just tanked arca with the new axe from badges in 2.4 since I wasn't taking any dmg), so I think I'm gonna get me one of these for a bit of fun : )
i would say this is a must for all holy pallies on archi for the last 10% ;p
Its....short...for a 2H. Looks kinda un-apealing because of its length..
I think it is bad weapon for so expensive resources, 2 primal nethers are too much for makin just this weapon. The mana restoring and stamina aren´t so bad, but still to expensive.
Are there any good 2 handed alternatives for a NO BLACKSMITHING prot to grind in?.. I am increasingly concerneed about this issue because wotlk is coming soon and i'll need to level..... at this rate i'll probably just respec to shockadin for 10 levels which would be a shame cos i'd basically have to solo all the way myself and not be able to tank places on the way up...
any ideas?
Eh, we're 5 months into 2009. No current posts. What's the current state of shockadins and balance druids? Any changed opinions on this?
Fromon 4.0.1 this is now the only non-staff 2h with spellpower on it...and i think thats sad, as i loved my healing paladin in a spellpowergearset (now intell) with a nice 2h.... :(
However, in terms of grinding power, it's probably at most a marginal upgrade over the Gavel of Unearthed Secrets http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30832 and a decent spelldamage shield. That's pretty underwhelming if this drops as deep in the raid game as it appears.
calculation is incorrect
Very wrong. For Elemental Shamans (granted for those only in rare cases), Holy Paladins and Resto Shamans this will becomes a very very very nifty grind-weapon in 2.3. Fast speed, good damage, nice scaling with Flametongue/Righteousness.
