Damaged Necklace

One of my guildies (Level 80) had this drop for him, but he's not a JC, so he gave it to me. At level 76 I [b]can't[/b] accept the quest yet. EDIT: Reached 77, quest works.

[b]Damaged Necklace[/b] This Item Begins a Quest Requires Level 77 <<-------------------------- This should have been your first clue. Requires Jewelcrafting (375)

One would assume that means the level requirement text was patched in.... EDIT: Because for those of you who don't get it, it was added in a later patch and originally didn't have a level requirement explicitly stated on the necklace. Which means the above, now-purged sarcastic response serves no purpose.

Any idea how much this should sell for? Have two.

One dropped for me in Halls of Stone. It seems that this item will only drop in 77+ Instances with a very low droprate. A few things about this item: ~This quest is repeatable, no matter howmany you will find or buy. ~This quest gives as reward a Jewelcrafting Token ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41596 ) ~This quest can be delivered more then once a day, and is not a dayly quest ~This quest can [b]only[/b] be delivered (gained) when your lvl 77+

It does not drop in only 77+ instances, it is a random world drop. Got one the first night of WotLK in the Nexus.

Once per item (and yes, as many items per day as you can get your hands on), obviously. Think about it for a second - what would be the point of the tokens if one item would give you an endless amount of them?

Dropped for me from a "normal" outdoor mob in Storm Peaks, so it's definitely a "world" drop.

I know it's not significant but this quest can also be completed while in a raid group.

Same story for me, random mob drop in Storm Peaks.

To confirm. If you are below level 77 it gives an error message: [i]'You are not high enough level for that quest'[/i] Initially I assumed it was a bug in that it referred to your JC professional level, as I am 450/450 (it says on item 'Requires Jewelcrafting 375) but realised it meant character level. It is not clear and would help if this was noted on the item. Guess I will hold onto it until I hit lvl77.

Worth a bit of gold if you are looking to get as many JC recipes and Dragon's eyes as you can without waiting for dailies. I've seen these range from 30g to 300g on the AH

This is also a good way for anyone who wants an item crafted the requires Dragon's Eyes an easy way to "pay" for them. This way the JC doesn't need to use up dailies to keep some on hand. Of course, this really only applies early on - after you have all the patterns, you can just save up tokens. But before that point, these plus a Chaldonecy nets a token. i've told my guild to save any they find for me, and some of them do want some of the epic rings and necks, so this shortens their time on the waiting list.

Really wish they were 30g to 300g on my server. US - Stormreaver they are going for 750g+

Yeah they have since skyrocketed a few days after I wrote that. Starting to level off about 500g-600g each now in the AH.

In my server they got sky high about 1 week ago with AH prices of 1000-2500 gold each. SIDE NOTE:there was rush for JC leveling at the time as many people without a profession at lvl 80 needed gems.

does anybody knows how much is it worth? dropped one today but there arent any of these in AH to check the price

I'd be willing to pay up to 200g for these at this point early in the expansion. Once I get a few hot recipes, I'd stop buying and then they'll probably drop to 100g or less. They're worth a JC token. Considering JC patterns sold for around 500g back in the day, 1k for some really rare world drops that were popular, I'd say that high of a price is justified. does it just drop off of any mob? dungeon and reg mobs, so there is really no potential to farm this if ur a jc?

Drops not only from instances, but as a world drop as well in (at least) Icecrown. Similar to the book that teaches Heavy Frostweave Bandage.

I found one in Borean Tundra today so it drops in the lower lands too. It dropped off some named questmob, might have been Harold Lane.

only that this has a much lower drop rate as i have had the frostweave bandage book drop for me 2 times and haven't even seen this item around yet

Dropped for me in the Basin around 64,47 while I was farming Frostweave Cloth.

Do not abandon this quest. The Necklace will disappear and you will be SOL

Confirmed. I found this item after 30 minutes of killing Reanimated Miner in Icecrown.

One of these dropped for me whilst on a quest in Icecrown. Definately a random world drop like Heavy Frostweave Bandage. However this is even better because you can sell it, if ur not a JC like I am. I sold mine for 500g within 2hrs of listing it (Oceanic Server) :0 nice one....

i some how managed to find 2 of them about an hour apart from each other. They must be of high demand because I advertised in trade channel for 500g each and had 2 buyers in under 30 seconds.

Was questing this morning and this dropped for me, They are currently going for 450-600g on my server (Thunderhorn EU) so a nice little bonus. :)

One of these dropped after the second Niffelem Forefather I had killed for the SoH dailies. Just thought I would mention that. =) -Äirborne, Bleeding Hollow.

Ooh! 1 dropped in Zul'Drak for me!.Luckily I wasn't so clumsy after selling my Siren's Tear to a vendor!

From all my heroic farmings, i've had about 6 drop in 1 week of H.HoS runs. It seems like the best place out of all the heroics, i don't know for sure but try this place hopefully this helps someone looking for a nice spot.

Like an idiot I didnt check what this was before I listed it on the auction house. I think I could have probably got more than 15 gold..

If you're not up for "farming" this item just check the AH frequently. You're bound to find a poster who doesn't know what he has, sooner or later. I know this much because I got one for 2 silver -- yes, SILVER -- from the AH (Terokkar, EU) once. Resold for 225g, which was essentially free gold :).

Are these droping as shareable after 3.1? I haven't seen them in the AH on my server since the patch.

Yes, they do drop like before. I just got one from a mob near Argent Tournament grounds.

I have a question. I turned this in, and then it gave me an extra quest or w/e and it gave me 4 extra tokens for being a "renowned" jewelcrafer. Does it always give you 4 extra ones or is that just one time?

You got the 4 extra tokens for having gotten to a certain point in your JC skill. It doesn't have to do with that at all, and it's a one time thing.

actualy you got the tokens when blizzard nerfed the prismatic effect of JC-only gems...they bumped the stats and gave existing eligable JC's 4 tokens.

The [url=http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47246]Writ of Merit[/url] provides 5, not 4 Tokens, so your explanation lacks some merit.

Since the release of Wotlk i have never seen one drop till yesterday.

Then today i got my 2nd.

Coincidently both dropped from the cult of the damned guys for the Argent Tourny dailies.

Just thought I'd add, this "green" item sells for a [b]lot[/b] on the auction house. It's not uncommon to grab an easy 400g - 800g for it.

I cringe to think how many of these I threw away before finding out what they are worth.

I've never seen one of these drop... ever, out of all my friends and guildies I play with still only ONE has actually had one drop. It's pretty ridiculous how hard it is to get these things.

Please correct me on this. 1. From my reading I assume that you get 1 Jewelcrafter's token per damaged necklace and chalcedony. But no one states this directly. If you want more tokens you can buy more damaged necklaces and make as many as you want and as fast as you want as long as you have a supply of damaged necklaces and chalcedonys. 2. But based on the price of the damaged necklace I originally assumed you could make as many as you wanted from one damaged necklace and repeat the quest over and over without buying another one. Can someone tell me which statement (1 or 2) is correct regarding this quest item?

Statement 1.

Statement 2 would make absolutely no sense. What you are doing with the damaged necklace and the chalcedony is [i]fixing the necklace[/i] and [i]turning it in for a token[/i]. You are not manufacturing tokens through some magical process of passing the chalcedony through the necklace or something.
