Design: Jeweler's Sapphire Monocle

Dropped off of Okrog in Mount Hyjal(darkwhisper gorge). He has about a 1 minute respawn time not sure if its a world drop or only off of him.

Random world drop.

Dropped off Tank (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=46608) in Tol Barad. Sold it on the AH for 1000g. Could not believe it!

That's a really bad deal for you. It is worth a lot more, even in Cata.

Just had it drop from a dark iron laborer in mnt hyjal. Now I'm trying to figure out what in the world it's for.

It makes Junk trust me! it's only useful to help level your JC expensive mats, just sell the recipe sold my 3 others for 250+g.

This thing sells for 2300g on my server, with my alchemist I have tons of volatile, I did the math, and if I bought all the mats off AH, id have about 1200g profit, off it, I have sold about 3 so far, pure profit, because i did not buy a single mats all my mats.

Nothing is never free to craft if it requieres time or materials.If you are using your own materials to craft something then the cost of the craft would be the amount of money you would have received if you had sold these mats. Always, always take this into account when calculating profitability.

Does anyone know if this will only drop for Jewelcrafters, or will it drop for anyone? I'd assume the latter, since people talk of selling it, but I'd like to know before I waste my time farming it with a toon that isn't a JC.

Its price got reduced to coppers shortly before it was removed, some time in Wotlk. The patterns (designs) for the all the jeweler's monocles and the Rhinestone Sunglasses are BoE now, so it is possible to obtain the patterns on the AH (for an exorbitant amount of gold, probably). The monocles and sunglasses themselves are now transmoggable cosmetic items. This comes with patch 10.0.5 in which white and grey items are now transmoggable.

I know this is an old post but 'They can only drop for Jewelcrafters *** 'is not correct at least of this patch. My guy with no tradeskills learnt at all (or in the past) just had this drop off a rare spawn kill.

Dropped about a month ago for me from Xaronia (Deepholm). Total surprise. I was farming something else.

Dropped from Garr (WB farm) after 1283 attempts spread across them. 6th and 7th Monocle (2nd Sapphire) dropped on my 3,622nd kill of Jalak-doom.

Also Dropped by Xariona :)! Probably my 2nd-4th kill on Xariona over the course of however many years.

Dropped for me today off Garr. I do not have JC. It's seems as though since the new patch these patterns are now BoE and drop for everyone. I've been farming for the top hat pattern and was surprised to see this drop.

I just bought this and it’s not showing learned, but my text in game said learned. I have the profession for that exp. Why?

The drop rate for all of the Cataclysm monocle designs and rare patterns was GREATLY increased in a stealth update after 10.0.5, and then it appears the odds returned back to normal in 10.0.7 In about 250 kills after the 10.0.5 patch I obtained: 3x [item=52496] 5x [item=52495] 5x [item=52494] 3x [item=67541] 2x [item=71965] A stealth update hit them again around 10.0.7 and since then I have seen just a single Monocle design in over 200 kills. There are now a few people on each server that can make these. I think that is what Blizzard intended.
