This dagger can go to hell. The mats are ridiculous. Just go get Modgud's Blade. Same stats, and you don't have to blow 10k gold (currently) on 6 truegold.
And 12 days after your post, the mats for this come out to about 5k gold + orb costs. In a month, this will be 1k or less. It's best in slot pre-raid and does not require 40 minute heroic queue AND the hope you get the drop AND the hope no other caster wins the roll. Howeve,r the biggest chance is that your current heroic group can actual finish the dungeon to get the drop in the first place and not just disband within first 10 minutes after several wipes. This goes with this offhand but mats required for this knife are ridiculous - six truegold bars. With "volatile" elements not so easily obtainable I wonder how much this will cost in AH and if it ever pays off even crafting this thing.
Current 'approximate' costs (keep in mind this early in the expansion prices will drop or otherwise fluctuate weekly, perhaps even daily) of this Spellblade is about 10,000 - 12,000 gold, give or take a few hundred depending on how cheap or generous the blacksmith you're getting to make this charges for Chaos Orbs and any tip.

Shimmering Morningstar is only an equivalent... if you're not a mage or a warlock... It's a mace... not exactly the same thing if you can't equip it. Peace. -john
I think a fair price for this, as the economy stands on my server, should be 4 hardened elementium bars, 3 truegold and 1 chaos orb. The reason being it's not an epic, it's only 346 ilvl. I think Blizzard overshot this one quite a bit.
Compare the Tol Barad equivalent: [item=62459] Granted, depending on how much the price drops / how rich you are / how valuable your time is / how often your faction controls TB, buying the spellblade may be preferable to the TB grind. If you're broke and TB is often accessible, take that option instead.
JUST NOW went ahead and purchased all the mats from the AH, got Blacksmiths in my Guild who can craft this for no fee.
Could not get a weapon to drop from heroics and I've been 85 since Cata launch..
