That's right, Druids, all of your Crit, Hit, Haste, Dodge, Expertise, and Mastery disappears the second you're in anything but caster form. After all, some guy on Wowhead said it, so it must be true! ETA: This is in reply to leashedhell, who is claiming that "Actually, 'equip:' has no effect while in shapeshift. so this is mostly for hunters. Since haste is for focus regen. Also, druids shapeshifted have a fixed dps speed, so haste is useless." I'm sure his comment will get nerfed into the ground shortly, so I wanted to preserve the sheer stupidity of it for posterity.

I'd roll on it against a druid. It's got stats good for both hunters AND feral druids. I wish people would stop trying to make hunters feel bad for rolling for loot that's actually good for them. And other hunters, stop overcompensating for the huntards. Know your class, roll need for what you truly do need and will benefit from (pending group rules... some have rules like 1 blue need per person until everyone gets something etc) and stop feeling like you're less deserving of upgrades. This staff dropped for me when I ran Caverns over the weekend, and it replaced the H:FoS Axe + ICC10 Axe co

Poor argument. A warrior will NEVER make as much use out of that gun/bow as a hunter would, assuming the item has Hunter stats and is not very obviously a Warrior gun. The same does not apply to this staff. I won't roll on leather gear not because it's better suited to a Druid, but because it's not good for a Hunter past 40. I'm hoping with the new armor bonuses people get, we'll see fewer stupid Paladins wearing cloth, and fewer stupid Hunters wearing leather much past level 45 (among other silly scenarios). Pre-40, I'm rolling on whatever leather is good for me. I still think it's out of

That feral attack power ONLY shows for druids. It's not a special stat. Any weapon that has above 54.8dps and is druid usable will show that orange line for druids only. Edit: actually, I must correct myself. I'm not sure why the Wowhead tooltip shows that feral attack power line. It was, apparently, removed in patch 4.0.1. http://www.wowpedia.org/Feral_attack_power So, the argument that this is better for druids because of that feral attack power line is based upon an error. It's not really there.

xiani-2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

I didn't not know they'd got rid of feral attack power.

However, from that link:
The damage of the weapon now affects Cat and Bear attacks like other melee classes.
Sounds like FAP (stop snig gering*) was just a fudge to get druids who never used to 'use' the weapon up to similar levels as other classes that would benefit from base DPS. Looks like that's been streamlined a bit, and good job too.

So, to be strictly accurate, as a hunter, the higher base DPS on a melee weapon is what's of no use to you, and provides extra advantage to a druid. Exactly how the base dps of a ranged weapon would be useless to when you never fire it.

[small] *the inappropriate word filter on this is...rather over enthusiastic[/small]

Yes... but... we're... not talking about base DPS on a weapon. We never have been. We're talking about the stats on the weapon. If this didn't have AGI + STA, I wouldn't be interested. If it had spellpower, I'd pass. But, it doesn't. If we'd been talking about base DPS at the beginning in relation to a statless item, it'd be a no brainer. But, we're not.

And if anyone still insists that Hunters should pass to Druids for this item.... instead of fairly rolling against them for it...

Sorry, but I'm going to have to still disagree with you.

Look, I hate huntards as much as the rest of you. But don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Some of us actually know our class and some of us have actually been playing it since 2004. Part of me thinks I shouldn't be proud of that fact (LOL) but it's but one of my chosen hobbies, so meh. ;P

Just because druids melee and hunters don't (pets don't get any benefit from the dps on a melee weapon) doesn't mean that a druid should always get priority over a hunter for a staff like this. Unlike a hunter without a good bow, a druid can shapeshift and gets an inherent bonus to their dps just from that. Take a bow out of a hunter's hands and they're useless... unlike a shapeshifted druid with an item that may have a bit lower dps.

Bottom line, it's good for both classes, and both have a right to roll for it. That's all I'm trying to say.

thesandman87-2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

The hunters shouldnt have the staff is the same logic that rouges use to say they get priority on 1h weapons. So what hunters cant have anything these days? Got a druid and a rouge nope no weapons for me, screw that non sense, if its an upgrade its an upgrade, they get more DPS and guess what Agility = RAP i get more DPS. Its a DPS upgrade for both. But then again every hunter by yalls logic should only use the weapon we start with because we dont melee

in a dungeon i dont care i can go again tomorrow and get it, also its a stat stick, but the way the community works, hunters arnt allowed there stat stick, i got flamed in TBC for using the 1h axe from kara that every warrior/rogue wanted on my hunter because a hunter had no right to it. Ive been flamed when i rolled on rockslicer a 2h axe because the DK wanted it to replace his current 308 blue tanking sword, and he left group when i refused to trade it to him. Im sorry but I dont know any one in a random pug, so your DPS doesnt really matter, and i have just as much right to melee as you hav

53393+6via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

1H and 2H weapons are simply stat sticks for Hunters, always have been. Weapon damage and dps of the weapon directly affects the damage of all abilities of a Rogue and Feral Druid from melee weapons. Imagine if a bow or gun dropped and the Rogue felt he had the same right to roll on it even though its simply a stat stick for him in this case, where as it would be a signifigant dps upgrade for the Hunter depending on the weapon damage, dps and speed. Not a good feeling, is it?

Milo1995-1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

so, as far as i get this idiotic loot battle between hunters rogues and druids, hunters cant QQ that any1 "stole" their bows/guns, but the other 2 can qq when the hunters "steals" a weapon. For the record, i play all 3 classes as alts.

766187+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Sells for around 130g on my server, today someone dropped one for 70g. I had to grab it for the stats boost on my hunter. Only thing is that since my caracter is a dwarf the model is so long it goes in the ground. That thing on a gnome's would look completely ridiculous.

chypsa+7via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Have to agree with Narshe on this one. If a rogue looted your bow or gun or whatever, so he can get a stat boost, all the hunters would go beserk. I really can't understand why they can't understand it's the same when they take a staff like this for their stat boost.

631257+2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)
Feel free to try to jump all over me, but I play both a druid AND a hunter, so any angle about me hating or not understanding druids is invalid.
I don't think you understand that weapon DPS is just as important for ferals as ranged weapon DPS is for hunters. It is our most important stat. Your argument is only valid if neither the druid or the hunter had a weapon equipped at the time. A rogue needing your bow upgrade is exactly the same as a hunter needing my staff upgrade. Which is not to say it's wrong, in a pug, it's just selfish.

505931+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

The reason why most hunters don't understand why these weapons are better for ferals is they don't understand that the Feral Attack Power on weapons directly correlates to the weapon damage. Druid weapon damage IS feral attack power, just like your ranged-weapon damage is a hunter's weapon damage. Druids and hunters take advantage of both of these stats respectively, and this is why hunters get first priority on ranged weapons and ferals take priority on melee weapons. Don't be an ass; take loot where loot is due.

thesandman87+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

No I agree as a hunter this staff is useful a rouge taking a bow/gun/xbow though, is stupidity, they require thrown to use fan of knives, why remove a DPS ability, thats playing like a moron, its like a hunter using a throw pre 4.0.1 they would be laughed at.
