[item=71638] confirmed as a dungeon drop. All party members who have the [item=71634] can roll on it.

Can confirm this as well, one just dropped off Asira Dawnslayer in Hour of Twilight, and so did [item=71637] from Archbishop Benedictus in the same run. As far as I can tell, drop rates aren't 100% considering I had done an End Time instance with no drop beforehand, but it does seem consistent that you have to defeat similarly levelled bosses for these items...and be lucky with your rolls. Don't forget your towel and your Hitchhiker's Guid- I mean, [item=71634]! =)

Actually, You dont need to have the pre-quest. Simply talk to the NPC outside of the Darkmoon Portal and ask her about the dungeon journal, and she will give you one.

Please keep in mind that the quest is not repeatable during one DMF festival. After you complete the quest you cannot get it for the second time, as it states when you use an item for the second time "You have already completed this quest". In other words - you can do the quest once every month. Now, to all the naysayers, Blizzard has confirmed that these quests are to be repeated each month. might be a bug but i managed to cash in 2 (TWO) ornate weapons during the same festival (sept 2nd to sept 8th 2012). I had the first one prepared in inventory and waited around the forest entrance area where the portal appears. As soon as it appeared (sept 2nd, a few minutes past midnight) i rushed and completed the quest then went on my way.. a few days later (i think it was sept 4th) i found one of these again, tried it, found the quest to be available and i went to the faire and it was completed again.

You got a tiny mixup there in the "What other Darkmoon Faire drops are there?" section. The line " Ornate Weapon -> An Intriguing Grimoire = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets" should be "Mysterious Grimoire -> An Intriguing Grimoire = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets"

I was wondering, is it possible to get any of these if you're lvl 110 or can you only obtain them while leveling? Because if you can't i see no reason to hold on to Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide

Non-heroic Deadmines Admiral Ripsnarl dropped the ornate weapon - not the Treatise on Strategy.

I didn't see anyone else state it, but the "cannot roll need" info above is not accurate. Dropped in RFD yesterday and I was able to "need" just fine. Nobody else in my group had the DM Adventurer's Guide on them, but I doubt that would be the cause of me being able to "need" roll on it.

My assumption is that you cannot roll "need" if you have completed the related quest already, as I have been unable to roll need on the Crystal or Egg the past 3 I have come across.

"I think today's maintenance (12/6/2011) hotfixed these and the other items to only drop from dungeons appropriate for your level, as it was originally intended." message is wrong I just looted a Imbued Crystal off SM cathedral - High Inquisitor Whitemane using my level 85 hunter ...so low level dungeons still drop them...even if your high level.

That may have been the case in the first Darkmoon Faerie, but now on the second one, i've accrued 40+ Randolph Moloch and my mate 20+ kills and neither of us have seen a single drop. I think it's a pretty safe bet to say he doesn't drop it anymore.

um no actually just looted another crystal from SM cath, so they haven't changed it

I have the feeling that above info about the droprate was valid during the first new darkmoonfair, or blizzard decided the droprate was to high. I ran stockades 5 times / hour as many times as i could (like 60 runs in 2 days), but haven't seen one ornate weapon drop so far

True, I have been running stocks every couple of days, 5 times but I haven't seen one yet. Might just be coincidence or does not drop when the faire is not around??

I'm starting to think they might have fixed the fact that level 85's can get it from low level instances. I've been getting a few other ones from lvl 85 instances, but this one won't drop from Stockades. Would fit in with what the Adventurer's Guide claims. (Would also suck quite hard)

I haven't see any ornate weapon drops in last few days either. I think WStilgar got it true, they might have fixed it.

I ran the Stockades about 30 times during the last weeks after the first fair without any luck. Then I went in a party with a a friend's level 22 alt who had the Adventurer's Guide with him: Third run granted us the weapon :)

Has anyone recently been trying to grab this artifact? Last faire I got one to drop in Stocks after 5 attempts. I've killed Randolph Moloch a total of 28 times and Herod in the Armory portion of Scarlet Monestary 8 times now with zero drops. Anyone having similar lack of drops for this artifact? Did Blizzard really lower the drop rate on this one? On the other hand I had an Imbued Crystal drop my second try in the Cathedral section. I'm getting frustrated not getting this to drop, lol. Anyone else having similar experiences?

Might have removed it from lower dungeons when you are max level 85. No luck for me.

Hi there.. well yesterday i get the item, going for my first mazz..with my ner pnj lvl 15-16 So i was lucky i guess :)

As of the second Darkmoon Faire (Jan 1st), we are [b]unable to farm the Darkmoon Dungeon quest items from low level instances[/b] so as a level 85, with this change/bugfix in mind, here's a compiled list of all the info you need to know for level [b]85[/b] characters; if you are lower than level 85, other instances may be a better choice for you and more information may be found in other comments.

Firstly, to get any of these items to drop, you will need the [item=71634] obtained from the introductory quest "The Darkmoon Faire" [url=http://www.wowhead.com/quest=7926]H[/url] [url=http://www.wowhead.com/quest=7905]A[/url] which is located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind, respectively, or pick it up from [npc=10445], who stands at the left-side of the entrance to Darkmoon Faire. You can only get the [item=71634] [b]during[/b] the Faire but all the quest items can [b]always[/b] drop, regardless of the Faire being on or not. The drop chance is quite low, roughly [b]15%[/b] and everyone who has the guide will be able to roll greed but not need.

Secondly, all of the items are BoE so can be traded with other players if you can't manage to pick up every item before the Faire ends or want to pocket some cash/give to a friend (These can be thrown in gift wrapping). Incidentally, all of the quest items can be handed in [b]once per month[/b] (they're consumed when you hand it in), so you might want to stock these up if you're having lucky drops - sometimes you can get really unlucky and not get anything for a while!

Most importantly, the rewards: You can either sell them for a fair amount of gold to another player as these are quite desirable or hand them in for 250 DMF rep, some gold and varying amounts of tickets.[item=71635],[item=71636],[item=71637] and [item=71638] give 10 tickets each, and can drop from any dungeon level 76-85 (for level 85s). [item=71715] gives 15 tickets but only drops from level 85 heroics. Together, these 5 give you [achievement=6027]. [item=71952], [item=71951] and [item=71953] give 5 tickets each and are obtained from looting the insignias of enemies in Battlegrounds. Together, these three give [url=wowhead.com/achievement=6028]Darkmoon Defender[/url]. [item=71716] gives 10 tickets and drops from certain level 85 raid bosses. All together, these give [achievement=6029], 2250 DMF rep and 80 tickets.

Updated for mop and it looks like there are no drops in [zone=5918]. According to the wowhead, [item=71715] drops in heroic mode, and the other items drop in normal modes off the respective boss. I.e.: [item=71638] drops in normal and not heroic.

I've compiled a easy to see table of where each item for [achievement=6027] can be found to get the most bang for your regular/heroic dungeon queues since Blizzard "fixed" the drops so that [faction=909] monthly quest items can only be looted in level appropriate dungeons. This is ordered in alphabetical order, with the instances that drops the most items for DMF items towards the top.

Notes: I'm keeping the level 80 and 85 data for people who have not upgraded from the Battlechest and Cata to MoP. If you find that a boss drops something not listed here. Leave a reply and I'll add it in, eventually.

While these items do not drop for players of inappropriate level anymore, they easily can be farmed with low level friend you can trust. Just quickly kill everything for him and let him loot bosses. Darkmoon items will drop from bosses now and while you can't loot them, your friend can! Since these items are BOE, he can just give them to you after looting.

Does this still work? I have had no luck with this.

Here is a macro for quickly determining which Darkmoon Artifacts you've turned in so far for that month... If you see a bunch of nil's instead just run it again.

You can have a higher level toon run you through these dungeons at the appropriate levels and still obtain the quest items. So if you are in search of these items, perhaps find somebody at the proper level and run them through the dungeons in trade for the quest item. =)

As of 6.2 this and the other boss-dropping Darkmoon quest items have a chance to drop from any appropriate-level dungeon or raid boss and some higher-level trash as personal loot instead of group loot from specific bosses as they did previously.

I just got this from [npc=81396] while opening up the mine in an alt's garrison. First time I've done it since 6.2, and I wonder if this was intentional.

If you're level 20, one way to farm all the dmf artifacts (without soothsayer's runes) is to farm in gnomeregan. I got all 5 in one solo run with my 20 hunter. Hunters, bring your turtle for tanking.

Easiest way. XP cap a toon at level 20 and farm Stockade. If you dual box (same server) or have a guildee run you even better. You can only have one in your bags at a time on your level 20.

I was wondering, is it possible to get any of these if you're lvl 110 or can you only obtain them while leveling? Because if you can't, I see no reason to hold on to [item=71634]

You have to have it for the Strength (250 kills) quest or your kills won't count.

Seems to be a bug but these dropped off of Ahunite Coldwave during the Midsummer event. I got Ornate weapon, Imbued crystal, A Treatise on Strategy and Mysterious Grimoire all to drop in one run. Can anyone else verify this happening to them?

These now have a chance to drop off Legion level dungeons.
