At level 49? No. Name one one handed weapon obtainable at level 49, other than other epic weapons like dragon's call that has better quality and stats. But if you're a prot. pally with a shield like me, or a shaman perhaps, and patient enough to wait two levels, you would be better off selling it because you could just get Cold Forged Hammer from the quest Hero of the Frostwolf. But as you said, specifically with a hunter, it would be a waste to use obviously.

As Asher said, it is a very solid drop item. However, I must disagree about it being better off sold, as frankly at level 49 39.5 dps and a proc is hard to beat.

Good point. When I made the comment on it, I was going from my point of view, being a Hunter. I neglected to put the other classes in mind for this one, haha. My apologies.

Also brilliant for any lvl 49 mace-using melee twinks - rogues, pallies, etc.

Sorry, Asher, but that makes no sense. As a hunter, this drop is useless to you (hunters can't equip maces), so your view of it is completely irrelevant.

Fantastic weapon for its level. Wouldn't recommend buying it for probably the 300g people ask for it especially on a new server... but I'd definitely use it if i found it.

This weapon goes for around 20g-30g buyout at Frostmane AH. I bought one, specced to combat and tried it out. Man this procc proccs atleast 2-5 times on a mob in my lvl. The proc rate is very high and with Icy weapon even better. This weapon was worth my 20g ;)

I plan on puttin in on a 49 combat rogue. Gonna put mongoose on it. Just so I know, what is the percent it procs?

This one goes for a wild 456 gold on Kael'Thas. I just picked one up.

I found one while farming for a disgusting oozeling, and it sold for ~250g on my server, Chromaggus.

Nice hammer, used until 60. I wouldn't spend more than 60g depending on your server, though I got a nice deal on it. The proc is very nice as well. Even better for humans with their +5 skill.

This weapon is probably best sent to the auction house. It becomes obselete once you get around level 50 and there are much better items to be wielded. You can make a decent amount of money selling this.

This weapon is junk for a rogue or shaman in the 40-49 twink bracket due to the fast speed, low top-end and Main Hand requirement. Shamans are better off with a Bonesnapper in the main hand, cheaper to buy and harder Stormstrikes plus nice stats.

not a bad one hander mace, have it as a 49 NE Priest with a nice off hander and bought it for a very low 35g off a 70 priest, it was in the AH for 110g buyout. i would say the frostbolt is about a 20% chance for me which isnt bad at all. a nice mace.

My main is a level 54 Paladin on Windrunner, running Prot spec one-handed with a shield. I was looking to upgrade from Ardent Custodian, which I've had since level 38, and someone was selling this for 35g (50g less than AH) so I picked it up. And then being an enchanter, I couldn't leave well enough alone and dropped Fiery on it as well. It's amazing how the little procs stack at times. I kick on SoR, and it gets pretty nasty when Reckoning procs - straight melee damage, ice or fire, plus holy, all in one hit...

Im doing the exact same on my currently lvl 52 prot pally. with my wall of the dead shield proccing more armor and holy shield giving return damage on top of SoR with a fiery enchant my screen is light up with damage dealth hehe

got it this day and sell it for 135g in 20 minutes...

This is a terrible weapon for rogues and warriors. The procs is fairly terrible and useless when warriors and rogue have enough abilities to slow their targets. Not true. It may be true for other proc-based weapons, but I used this to twink in the 49 bracket and it procs constantly, up to several times a fight. The proc can make up for -- or exceed -- the top-end damage on the Ribsplitter, and more importantly, it frees up Shock cooldown for Earth and Flame Shocks, since the proc is essentially the same thing as Frost Shock with a 1 second difference. This weapon will allow you to keep casters in range while always giving you the luxury of using Earth Shock. This is incorrect, for a 49 shaman twink Ribsplitter "of the bear" or "of strength" is greatly superior. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=12527 slower speed, highest top end for hard hitting WF and stormstrike, and AP boosting stats. And the proc on HotNW is pretty worthless considering Frostshock

Even though I do agree with you about the Ribsplitter, I must say that the proc is still nice on a Shaman despite Frost Shock. Seeing how Frost Shock has a shared cool down, and costs mana, the proc could be considered a "free" frost shock (albeit random) saving you the cool down. In PvP, having that Lightning Shock and Flame Shock ready to use comes in extremely handy.

This weapon is great for prot pallys, but thats also the only class/spec that its good for. This is because it has a rather fast wep speed(2.1), which makes it less usefull for rogues and warriors because special attacks benefit from higher wep dmg, and for shamans because of the WF cd. Cant think of any other classes/speccs that might make use of it.

Since the change of this weapon to one-hand it is now an EXCELLENT offhand weapon for twink rogues speccing Combat Maces. The fast speed translates to more Combat Potency procs, which means more energy for more damage...not to mention more stun procs. It's also serviceable for sub rogues as well, and for the PVE minded, it's a decent tankadin weapon (although Cold-Forged Hammer is free if you don't mind the speed). Any other class however, don't bother. Fury warriors will lose Whirlwind damage with this weapon, and shamans will lose Stormstrike/Windfury damage/procs as well.

My tauren shaman had this item and he was lvl 49 in bg's, SS. it had a very nice proc rate with very high dmg with windfury. If you find it, I recommend selling it, depending on how much it goes for on the AH, or if your around 40-55, you could just use it for a good weapon.

But if you are going into SS with a shaman, and you have a 60 or 70. I recommend going with http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2291#comments:id=327849 which will get you more dmg with windfury. But on the bright side, if you do use it with windfury it has crazy damage. At least 900 both crits

I don't know about you guys but I've been dual wielding these for my Enchant sham http://www.wowhead.com/?item=871 with this http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27984 since I first got it at lvl 42 and I'm still using it even at lvl 59. You'd be surprised what kind of damage they do even at my level. Pretty reliable in both PVE & PVP.

i would disagree about it not being the best two of those maces and its a pritty nasty kill but depending on your specc and how you pick your specc is hard because some people would argue kang the decapitaitor is better (on my lock i faced a lvl 49 twink shammy with kang the decapitaitor and i saw him pwning leather users in one hit) i guess its just your opinion

All I can say is - Awesome. I, on my lvl 49 warrior can defeat a lvl 56 elite in Fellwood (I cant remember his name). I got not one, but two of these, one in each hand, and they have never let me down. I almost don't miss even on mobs, 4-5 lvls above me. One of them i got from the AH for 35 gld (even for me it was hard to overcome). The other one was given to me by my great guildmaster and i still deposit 1 gld every day for it. Everyone, who sees this in an AH or anywhere else, you should hurry to get it, because this really is one GREAT weapon.

Heirloom items blow this out of the water. On my server, it sells for ~200g, so if you can get Herilooms, you may lose the proc that's only good for runners, but you gain ALOT more dps and save 200g. Although this can have BC enchants... Still, heirlooms are better. If you have the choice, don't even touch this.

Does it make sense to have 2 of them for PVP Ench shaman? What best Enchant?

Chance on hit means it only procs when the weapon hits. Spellcasts aren't weapon hits. I'll let you figure the rest out.
