This axe is just ok, goes for around 100g on most servers. There are more useful items out there, and being that it is an axe the only dual wielders that can use it are warriors, hunters, and now shamans. For a warrior, its not as great because they need their +strength and +stamina. Hunters need +agility and a shaman that can dual wield this will be at least level 40 and will have better items anyway

This is probably the worst epic item in the game. Weak proc, slow speed, unattractive glows when enchanted, etc.

For tanking, you should go for a faster 1H weapon. Tanks should skip this in favor of the Dark Iron Destroyer ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=17016 ), the Bone-Slicing Hatchet ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=18737 ) or the Iceblade Hacker ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13952 ) if they're dead-set on using an axe. Dual-wielders should use faster weapons.

There's no reason at all for this to go for more than 60g or so, but on my server it usually goes for 100g or more. It's completely not worth anyone's time. I question Blizzard's reasoning for making this an epic.

Total crap. This weapon is as good as it gets for a fury warrior, combat rogue or enhancement shammy until [item=24020] (or in the Shammies case, [item=31139]). The proc procs regularly, which is great addition to DPS in general, and for a shaman, it benefits from Stormstrike. 'Nuff said. Though tanks will do better with something with relevant stats, if you want to engage in PvP at that level, or wanting something to boost your DPS in randoms, and can't/won't get heirlooms, look no further.

For the level it is (required level 52) this axe is actually a lot better than the above are claiming. Apart from a Krol Blade if you picked this up at the AH @ Level 52 it would be a significant upgrade in DPS from whatever you were using before, and nothing exceptionally better comes along until you hit 60.

Try to compare the DPS of this with the DPS of Princess Theradras' Scepter (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=17766). This has 41.5 DPS and the two hander 3 levels under only has 5 more DPS, so I would say that this is a pretty decent weapon for damage dealing. I use this myself on my lvl 54 warrior, and I until I get a better two hander I'm gonna keep DW'ing.

"This is probably the worst epic item in the game. Weak proc, slow speed, unattractive glows when enchanted, etc." "a shaman that can dual wield this will be at least level 40 and will have better items anyway" These comments made me LOL! First off this is nowhere near the worst epic item in the game. The proc is not weak at all considering its one of the only one hand weapons with a + dmg proc from 52-59 weapons. Plus with the stormstrike debuff active on a mob this proc will increase in damage by 20%. Ya it has a slow speed and that makes it very nice for a DW shamen considering it wil

To not choose a weapon, just cos it looks bad, is probably one of the 1st signs that u r in fact a complete newb. If a wpn had +500 everything and 100000 dps, but looked like a twig and bad when enchanted, mean that you would not use it cos it looked bad? lol.

This is the best main hand weapon for enhancement shaman by far, at least until you hit 61 and start dual wielding http://www.wowhead.com/?item=31139 It should make grinding to 60 a breeze, but I wouldn't consider paying over 70g for it, unless I'm swimming in gold.

Spot on, I got this axe on my Enhance Shammy at 51 and it f*ckin pwns! best WF with it was way over 1300 and Im not including the proc, which as stated is increased by 20% with Stormstrike. As most shammies know Slow MH+OH is the way forward for Dual Wielding WF and as far as I know there's no better item available untill Fist of Reckining at 61.

I had this axe until 61 or something, bought it for about 80 g or something, used it a lot to farm air essences from the vortexes in silithus which.. are immune to nature damage xD.Nice proc anyway. Then I vendored it and some time after when I tried to solo the lich from andorhal to get the scholo key, I also did a q to kill some temporal parasites and it dropped for me :P. Sold it for 65 g.

might as well just get the dragon's call http://www.wowhead.com/?item=10847 it is a lot better because of the added on dragon whelps and it also has a higher drop rate than this axe, so in my opinion go with the dragons call

47599+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

You'd have an easier time grinding 200g and waiting for it to come on the AH than running ST untill dragon's call drops. 1.2% is extremely low, by straight math you'd have to do almost 100 runs for one to drop.

As of 5/13/2008 this weapon is no longer tagged Main Hand. It is a one hand weapon now and can be dual wielded. I just bought 2 from the auction house right after today's patch. They were not terribly expensive and now my Shaman can dual wield them when he hits level 52. They have a great slow speed for Windfury and unless you feel like farming Rivenspikes in LBRS, then a pair of these is a great way to go.....Thank you Blizzard!

To the people that say this is a bad epic... it isnt. I had it for a while, and the proc rate was simply outstanding. The extra burst of damage and its dps make it a very worthwhile item to have. If you have a good stat other item, then the dps you get is by standards of the level, great.

I picked this up on my 52 Shaman on the Hakkar (horde side) server for 75g. And I think it's worth it. It's a great axe, I haven't been able to find any BoE or BoP 1handers right now that I would even think about replacing it with, much less putting it in my offhand. This is perfect for Enhancement shamans, high damage, slow speed, and a Nature proc that goes with our Stormstrike debuff >=D! Very satisfied with it.

This axe is wonderful. I always discuss weapons with other senior players before say anything. AngeurloScuro: Lvl 51 Human Warrior @ Twsiting Nether

This dropped off an Enthralled Cultist after 270 kills in the Blasted Lands. There's no great 'one' spot to farm this, but generally dungeons and raids work better, but still, good luck!
