My personal favorite pre-MC tanking off hand. It's nice because of it's speed, perfect for laying down sunders fast. If you're more into PVPing then I suggest getting two and trying that out. You'd be surprised how much damage you can do at this speed with duel +15 agility enchants on them. Also easily obtainable due to the fact it's a boe. For casters, it's good money too! Although, buyers beware, don't pay more than 35g.

Tanking offhand? If you're tanking, you should not have a weapon in your offhand. This is an excellent offhand for a sword rogue, however, particularly for the 50-60 push. Get a thrash blade for your mainhand and put this in your offhand and you'll have extra attacks like crazy.

A reference from the movie Kill Bill, where a Hatori Hanzo blade is made for Beatrix Kiddo (Uma Thurman). They use the same animation, both from the movie and the game.

Hattori Hanzo is very popular in a variety of media (jidaigeki, video games, manga) from Japan (and works influenced by them). Rimelight is right though that they are all essentially based on the historical Hattori (who was a samurai not a ninja). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hattori_Hanzo (Personally I think this item is based on the Hanzo character from the Samurai Shodown series of video games, who has very fast attacks. But until Blizz tells us, who knows for sure.)

I preffer to stick with the original Hattori Hanzo from the medievil Japan rather than the one from Kill Bill. A truly amazing katana indeed. Hanzo had two of them btw, nice thing is this one isnt Unique. Though it wont serve nice as a main hand for rogues for its high speed (off hand best used), but I'd like to have two for the looks (no enchants, no special stuff, just raw cold steel katana).

The chance on hit procs quite rately (my sample size so far isn't enough to give an accurate number, but it seems to be around 2-3%). Since it's physical it is reduced by armor, and the highest I've had it hit for was 51 damage. It can crit though, presumably using your own crit percentage, and does double damage when it happens. In practice, the damage contribution from the proc is neglible, but the fast speed and high dps still makes this a desirable weapon for certain classes/specs.

Very good Rogue off-hand although the Dazzling Longsword is as good if not better and attainable at level 36. Why spend 50g on this and use it for eight levels when you can spend 100g and use the weapon for twenty four levels? I'd get a Longsword. Plus the proc' scales with gear to a certain degree unlike this weapon's.

173118+2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

I disagree. The longsword has 5 less DPS, a .2 slower speed, and a worse proc. This is FAR better for a combat rogue, and probably cheaper. However, the dazzling is better at 36, because it can be equipped at 36.

You can only build CPs as fast as the GCD let's you AND if you have the energy available for your next CP generating move, therefore, having a fast MH wouldn't really allow you to build more CPs quickly. Always stick with slow, max-dmg weapon in the MH and fast weapon in OH (unless you prefer the slow OH for Mutilate; it's kind of a toss-up with ppl). The reason for this is b/c of the calculations built into determining how much dmg you'r abilities will hit for. Many players are not familiar with "Weapon Normalization" and that is one of the biggest keys to this game. Everyone should understan

The speed of the weapon has nothing to do with your combo point gain - Your energy ticker is fixed at 20 (or 40 with AR) and +3 though +15 with Combat Potency. However, you are correct with the fact that Deadly Poison will have faster applications. This weapon is also perfect for sword spec procs if you're specced that way. It would also be perfect (imo) for a fury warrior that is leveling. Although personally I prefered two slow weapons, I can see this as being a great sword for whoever uses it. One thing's for sure though; it belongs in your offhand.

138307+5via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

youre forgetting the combat talent that gives successfull off-hand attacks a chance to gain energy. this applies to normal weapon attacks, thus giving faster weapons more chances to gain energy. he was correct in saying it generates more energy assuming he has this combat talent.

PHumphreys+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

A fast main hand and off hand will allow you to build combo points more quickly, however, having a fast main hand for a combat sword spec is gimping your max damage severely! You want a fast off hand and a slow main hand. Ideally you should be spamming SS until you have enough combo for a SnD time that fits the battle, then building up more combo points to use rupture. The "cookie cutter" combat sword play style. If you really need to add combo points fast use Shiv.
With the transmogrification feature being introduced in patch 4.3, this weapon will undoubtedly be one of the most sought after skins. Finally, you can raid end-game content as a ninja!
People have been raiding as ninjas since vanilla.

One of the more desirable Japanese themed items. Found one in a chest while questing a couple days ago. Sold it for 2500g the first time I listed it. I thought I'd have to price it closer to 1000g but if I wanted one and didn't have it, I'd probably have paid 2500 it myself. And apparently I'm not alone in that thinking. Gone are the days when you could pick stuff like this up for 20g.

Oexi+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

On my realm they go for 1500-2000 and there are like 4 or 5 at the AH currently. I really hate paying that much for a xmog but if it doesn' drop on me soon, (which isn't very likely) I guess I'm going to have to just buy it. And I would, too. Even if its crazy expensive. This is one of the best looking 1h sword in the game imo.

Can someone clarify whether this sheaths to back or not, because reading the comments here I first assumed it does not, but then I saw a pandaren monk in game with two swords that were transmogged to this, and they sheathed to back. I'm confused. Maybe they changed it?
