Fiery War Axe

The proc rate on this is awful. I'm powelevelling a pala at the moment, and was looking for a meaty 2hander to take me through a load of levels so I didn't have to worry about what instances I had to squeeze in. Saw a flurry axe in AH for 25g so bought it, resold it for 200 then bought this and enchanted it with crusader. Should have kept the flurry and gone prot :o) Although this does have the purple bling quality and very nice dps, it's probably not worth the expense.

I'd disagree, I think the proc rate on this is pretty reasonable. Much better than other "Chance on hit: Fireball/Frost/Shadowbolt" procs I've had. Also it has no internal cooldown, I've had it proc twice in two hits. :D

Windfury actually makes it proc more often.

actually using Bonebiter right now. It is a pretty good weapon, although I now want this bad boy. :)

i was party grinding w/ my noob friend and this dropped (remember my partner was a noob) so he needed it so i was like " my pally needs that can i have it..." and he gave it to me... wow lol

Bonebiter has similar DPS but no proc. But it's a quest reward available at level 30. Go figure. :) ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=6830 ) It also has some stats too. Alliance only though. :)

Bonebiter is better than this wep anyday IMO. Bonebiter has 38.8 DPS, but if you add the +20 Strength, which is 40 AP for a Warrior, Paladin, and Shaman, then divide 40 by 14 it comes out to about 2.8, making the Bonebiter's DPS about the same. Then you're trading 100 Health for a 200 damage proc on a 2.9 speed weapon? No thanks! :P

I think Birdman was refering to the 20 strength bonus inherent on Bonebiter.

The Fiery War Axe is fantastic for its level, nothing better available if you're horde. If you get your hands on this at lvl 35 there is no need to spend gold on a new weapon for about ten levels. I've had this axe for quite a while now, since I was lvl 35. I am now lvl 47 and only now starting to look for a better weapon in earnest...

Of course you can find better dps weapons earlier, but unless you have friends that can boost you through places like Uldaman or Zul-Farrak it's not really worth it imo.

Edit: Yesterday, after dinging lvl 49 and boosting blacksmithing past 260, I finally replaced my axe with [url=http://www.wowhead.com/?item=7959]Blight[/url]. It lasted fourteen levels! And Blight is just a slight improvement in dps...

I am 46 and have had this since 35 as well. It is very good for leveling, at least on the Retribution Paladin I am leveling. The proc rate is very reasonable, and the axe hits hard. Only cost me about 100g total, and that's including a Crusader enchant. If you have the money, this is definitely worth it.

I just got that axe from a dragonkin in the cave near Mudsprocket. Judging by the comments above, i'd rather keep it for a twink than sell it. cheers

I was questing in Alterac fighting the ogre's with a friend and this dropped. My plan is to sell on AH and split the cash with my friend. Personally i like the Whirlwind Weapon more as I am a warrior but for a pally or a lazy Warrior then its really good

This wep is crazy. Its like a lvl 40+ wep, but its not worth getting. Its expensive, and its not really needed. Just grind and do instances youll get way better stuff than that.

I got a fiery war axe from the Crushridge Ogre in the Alterac Mountains, and a tonne of people were offering me 190g for it, so people must actually want this..

This is one of the best low-level weapons! If you have much money try to get this axe. It's so nice :)

Will the Chance on Hit interfere with Windfury? This is my first Shaman and i'm still getting the hang of it. Thanks :P

No, the proc on this will not interfere with your windfury negatively. You however can proc the fireballs on a windfury hit which can make for a load of damage very quickly.

N.b.: the proc CAN crit.

I bought this for my Shaman, heavy crits and the fireball procs quite often. But I am wondering whether to replace it at 40 for dual wield items.

right now im 44 and i still haven't found anything to replace it with, i think im going to ride it out until i can get some good elemental shammy gear

I was level 39 when it dropped. I was in a party with a warrior (I am a druid) and he was so excited about this that he selected "Greed" just like me... I won it and sold it for 124g (Someone was selling it for 125g- I was a bit noob and didn't wait for it to be bought), anyway, I had the money for my mount! It's quite difficult to drop, but I am sure that if you grind in Stranglethorn Vale, it will drop for sure. So, go and take it! Good Luck!

There is an argument that the staff of Jordan is the best two handers for twink Enchancement Shamans in the 30-39 bracket it is not. If you want to maximize your damage as an enhancement Shaman the Pendulum of Doom is better for the following reasons: 1.) Higher top end damage 2.) Slower Speed (larger damage per swing per AP), greater chance per attack (and windfury proc) of proccing weapon enchants such as crusader or mongoose. 3.) Has proc that can be triggered on WF attacks with no cooldown on the proc. 4.) Is benefitted by orc +axe racial 5.) Pendulum has a 3.07 attack speed after 30% haste increase via Flurry talent. This means that after a Wind fury critical strike, the shortest amount of time before another wind fury can occur is 3.07 seconds (due to the 3 second cooldown on Windfury); The Staff of Jordan has an attack speed around 2.7 after a critial strike windfury and 5/5 flurry. This means that the shortest amount of time after a Wind fury crit that wind fury can be procced again is approximately 5.2 seconds (two swings) later. This may be seen as a boon to Staff of Jordan shaman wielders because they only need three points in Flurry to keep their attack speed above 3.0 after a crit allowing for three extra talent points to be spent elsewhere (two handed weapons talent, and the two points not needed in flurry). If this fits your playstyle then so be it; however if you want to do as much damage as possible with windfury as an enhancement shaman, Pendulum of doom with 5/5 flurry is *by far* the better choice. (elemental/resto is different!) 6.) As an enhancement shaman the +26 spell damage on the Staff of Jordan adds approximately 11 damage to your earth and frost shocks ; not particularly impressive boost. The extra damage from a pendulum of Doom windfury (*without* the proc) will eclipse this. I would recommend getting a Staff of Jordan if you can until you can obtain a Pendulum of Doom, as the SOJ is much much more common on the AH and a lot less expensive (generally speaking - yes it is) than a Pendulum of Doom. how I would rank the weapons for a twink shaman in 30-39 1.) Pendulum of doom 2.) Staff of Michael Jordan / Bonebiter (alliance only) 3.) Mograine's Might 4.) The Pacifier (put Crusader on this) 5.) Obsidian Cleaver 6.) Thornstone Sledgehammer 7.) Fiery War Axe 8.) Ravager (used with Rockbiter)

This is by far one of the best weapons obtainable at this level. Got this right at level 35 for my Ret Paladin. The CoH has a decent proc rate (Around 1 proc every 20 secs of sustained combat) and high dmg make for some devastating SoC hits. I just dinged 50 today and I've finally replaced this axe with http://www.wowhead.com/?item=9372 15 levels of easy fights have certainly made this axe well worth the 150g I paid for it. I highly recommend getting it if you can afford its sometimes hefty pricetag or if you get a lucky drop.

seen many warriors and pallys wield this weapon. but i have seen a feral druid weald this. i battled him at lvl 43. he was 36 at the time. this guy kicked my ass. great weapon for a warrior or pally tank in their early stages of learning the actual ways of raids and instances. to all of those people looking for a nice epic weapon on their early char. i have to say that putting the hard work to find this weapon pays of in the long run.

I've got this axe for my warrior along with Scarlet set. this axe i believe fits in with any twink. although its hefty price, It'll fit well for any person.

i picked this axe up in STV while doing a quest where i think i had to kill 10 jungle stalkers, when i researched this item i found out the jungle stalkers had and still have the highest drop rate but dont be fooled because this is a world drop and you never no where it will drop (the jungle stalkers have i think a drop rate of 0.001, it has dropped a total of 11 times). This axe is frikin aswesome and looks good especcially with a mongoose or crusader enchant. I havnt sold this item yet, if u want it, it is really expensive so get ready to empty your wallets, i am on bladesedge server, right me a comment then i will give you more information....

As you can see in the 'Dropped by'-tab, it has a 0% chance to drop off of any of those mobs. This doesn't mean that it is impossible to get it, it just means that the chance to get it is so incredibly low that there is [b]no[/b] point in farming for it, you'd be better off spending that time making the money so you can buy it.

ok so I went over to stragathorn vale with my 80 kicked everyone's butt but still didn't get the axe which sucks because I would really like to have it. So is there any other way I can get it other than buying it?

Definately not. I has no stats whatsoever that could benefit in your class in any way. Hunters are made for bows and guns. Two hander weapons like this with "chance on hit" on it and no additional stats like agility are completely useless to you as melee damage is pointless for your class.

Yesterday i bought this item for 400g is that a reasonable price?

400g? would never buy this weapon, you're always getting better gear from quests and dungeons when you get to higher lvls, so a few lvls over 35 and it's not worth keeping. only had it because i got it from a drop in dustwallow marsh

Actually, if you bought it for an alt for a few levels of easy grinding, it was not a bad purchase at all. 400g is about two or three days of dailies if you do most of them for rep/gold/tokens, and I didn't count in any money you might make on the side.
