Never again. Based on the other players around me, it seems like everyone else was struggling with this too. This kind of spatial activity (another example would be underwater combat) simply does not work in wow's engine.
You can use a glider after the vine snaps and you're up the air and possibly get all 4 green orbs in one go to finish the quest fast or to grab what's left after trying it normally the first time.
