Crafting estimate at current listings

At current lowest listed prices the reagents cost more than the crafted item lists for: an estimated loss of 58 gold18 silver per craft.

Reagent cost (lowest listed): 100 gold93 silver
Crafted item, lowest listed price (each): 22 gold50 silver
Items per craft: 2
Listed value of one craft: 45 gold
Auction House cut (5%): 2 gold25 silver
Estimated profit at that listed price: −58 gold18 silver (-58%)

Evidence: 26 current listings holding 1,007 units of the crafted item in the US region. We see listings, not sales, so how many sell and at what price is unknown.
Items per craft: the game’s spell data creates 2 per craft, so the listed value of one craft is that many times the lowest listed price.
Quality: Sanctified Alloy comes in 3 quality ranks. This is the base comparison, rank 1 reagents against the rank 1 result; your skill and the reagents’ ranks decide the rank you actually get, which this estimate does not model. Each rank’s lowest listing is in the rank table below.
Not included: the recipe also accepts 2 finishing reagent slots, which are not required and are left out of the cost.

Sanctified Alloy quality ranks

Sanctified Alloy comes in 3 quality ranks, and each rank is its own item on the Auction House. The recipe’s base crafting difficulty is 525.

Rank	Item	Lowest listed price	Listings (US)
Rank 1	Sanctified Alloy	22 gold50 silver	26 listings, 1,007 units
Rank 2	Sanctified Alloy	18 gold97 silver	9 listings, 110 units
Rank 3	Sanctified Alloy	29 gold	14 listings, 206 units

The crafting estimate above is the base comparison: rank 1 reagents against the rank 1 result. Your skill and the reagents’ ranks decide which rank a craft actually makes, so a higher rank is never priced against rank 1 reagents here. Right now rank 1 lists above rank 2, so a craft that comes out at a higher rank is worth less at today’s listings, not more.

Reading these numbers

At current lowest listed prices the 5 reagents for one craft of Sanctified Alloy cost 100 gold93 silver. Most of that is Core Alloy - 1 at 55 gold each, 55 gold, 54.5% of the whole basket. Watch that one price and you have watched most of this recipe.

Break-even is 106 gold24 silver per craft, 53 gold12 silver per item at 2 items a craft - below that listed price the craft loses gold once Blizzard’s 5% cut is taken. The crafted item’s lowest listed price is 22 gold50 silver, which does not clear it.

The crafted item currently lists for less than its reagents cost: −55 gold93 silver before fees, and the Auction House would still take 2 gold25 silver of a sale, so a craft loses 58 gold18 silver at these prices. At current listings, buying the crafted item costs less than making it. That is an estimated -57.6% return on the gold you put into reagents.

Listing depth right now: 1,007 units across 26 auctions region-wide. Depth separates a market price from a single asking figure, but listings are not sales, so read it alongside the estimate.

Costs use each reagent’s lowest listed price; the estimate is the crafted item’s lowest listed price, times the items one craft makes, minus those reagents and Blizzard’s 5% sale cut. Listings are asking prices, not sales. Recalculated every snapshot and left blank rather than guessed when a price is missing. How we estimate crafting profit →
