So why hasn't the cooldown on this gone away too...

You can learn this at level 20 and start performing transmutes. The higher level transmutes are not available until level 35. With the difference in price between iron and gold being about 30-50s this is not a bad money maker for a level 20. You could in theory make 3.5g a week. Hardly big cash but it could make a contribution towards your mount at level 40, with no more effort than logging in once a day.
You will need someone to buy the recipes from Tanaris for you though as it will be hard for a level 20 to get there. Easier for Horde than Alliance though.
Does this spell have a daily cooldown in MoP?

Yep. Learned in the hard way.
This transmute is rather useless in my opinion. Its better to use the cooldown for elemental transmutes or arcanite transmutes.
So I guess you could say that alchemy... makes a lot of gold B)
At this point in the economy, this spell is pretty useless; iron is in demand for many things commonly used for leveling, while gold is only used in a handful of specialty items. As a result, you're turning a valuable stack of iron bars into a stack of gold that's probably worth less than the iron. In fact, that's true of most of the transmutes these days, depending on your server. The major exceptions of course being Truegold, and anyone lucky enough to have the Transmute Water to Air from before it became obsoleted.
Atm wowhead is wrong, tried this transmute yesterday - spell's cooldown resets at midnight!
Come on Blizzard, why the hell this spell has a cooldown? Allowing ppl to do more transmutes won't ruin game's economy! You nerf everything these days, but why you sustain this?
My how times change. It's in the middle of legion, and right now, as a fairly experience money maker, I can make about 15,000+ gold an hour. I can only hope in 10 years someone else comes here to inform me about how pathetic my 15k is compared to their bazillion platinum pieces per hour or something.
I suspect it's to avoid upsetting the economy. Transmute recipes are one of the few rcipes that convert a raw material to a different raw material and still provide skill ups. Removing the cooldown would make a very popular choice for leveling since you can sell the output a lot more easily than you can low level potions. In the case of Titanium the removal of the CD was more a response to the lack of demand for Saronite than anything else. The price of Saronite had dropped to pretty close to the vendor price (at least on my server) and removing the CD on the transmute effectively normalized t
Alchemetic transmutes tend to either have no cooldown or the "Shared" cooldown. This means Transmuting iron to gold takes the same cooldown as making living steel or savage blood.
Still does have the sodding CD in TWW....
Because it would raise the price of iron, and drop the price of gold veins. You don't necessarily need gold for anything for leveling, you do however need titanium to make high level stuff and titiansteel bars. And to prevent the price of all things titanium from skyrocketing (because people would be prospecting titanium) they made it so you can make titanium from plentiful saronite.
lol - since when can you learn this at level 20? Try level 35. And it's not a big money maker at all sadly... best to transmute arcanite for some good money. :)
The tooltip says 8 sec cast, 1 sec cooldown, does that mean the cooldown has gone away?
