Warrior is hands down Savagery > 35 AGI for pure DPS. 35 AGI is about 1.06% crit 70AP should be well over 5DPS. It's 5 DPS white damage + 16.5 more damage on each yellow attack like Overpower, MS or Whirlwind. Or if you're fury it's 31.5 damage to each bloodthirst. Also AP gives higher ticks to deep wounds. Averages out to close to 10 DPS total. On even itemization you always choose STR / AP over AGI for DPS. Most warriors value 1% crit somewhere around 40 AP±10-ish depending on their preference for steady damage or burst damage. Very few would go as high as 66AP = 1% crit (which

It also has blood falling of the blade effect
savagery is a good basic enchant to get when you just hit 70 or something but +35 agi is far superior. That +1% crit and +35 AP will mean a lot more than +70 AP unless you do have very very low AP. Any semi geared hunter should have realised that but meh.
I fully agree that warriors should use savagery. It's just too much extra damage to pass up.
BM = Savagery as well.
actually, BM hunters lose most of their AP simply because they get all their damage from attacking faster, crit, pet buffs, ect. so Savagry is more prefered for a BM hunter because with you hitting that fast, the AP far out damages the 1% crit (tests to come)a properly specced BM hunter (41/20 with the +damage from crit for the 15 MM talent) may help a tad, i do indeed prefer raw AP over that crit, if i ever roll MM or surv, im going to +35 agil, but until then, my AP is going to be severely severed...
Definite confirmation, in content patch 2.1.0, Savagery now has a bright red glow
I agree as well. Some people get confused and thing Greater Impact ( +7 weapon damage ) is better than this. 7 weapon damage is not 7dps. On a 3.6 speed weapon, 7 weapon damage is 1.9 dps. Faster speed weapons will increase this but never more than 5 dps. Savagery is always better.
The blood dripping effect goes over natural glows. I put savagery on my Sonic Spear, and while it still glows blue like normal, the top of it has slight red and drips bright red.
Actually, the value of crit is relative to the amount of AP you have, so saying AP will out dps crit is misleading, because crit will out dps AP if you have enough AP. Also remember that agi scales with kings where AP doesn't.
This was previously true, but since 2.3 Executioner http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=42974 is more useful for Warriors once you reach a certain level of attack power and other stats, probably around 1400 attack power.
This will not appear on Ice Barbed Spear or any pre-visually enchanted items, like a Gladiator Spellblade.
hey i was just wondering for a ret pally and ms warr whats better mongoose or savagry. ty in advance. = )
before 1500 ap 27 crit savagery is better after, mongoose is better and after 2k ap executioner is better
Could you explain why Savagery is better? Considering 35 agi = 35 AP & 19.32 Crit rating (0.85% crit), scales with Kings and talents, 35 Agi seems better for hunter point for point.
Agreed about the strength, but I think there is a better way to word it, maybe with some reasons as to why strength is better than attack power.
You should take the strength over straight attack power so that buffs, such as blessing of kings will give you an overall higher bonus. If you have 3x +8 strength gems in that item, it gives you an overall (as a warrior) 48 attack power. If you get a blessing of kings, you gain +10% of that bonus strength from the gems (24 + 2.4) = 26.4
26.4*2 = 52.8 extra attack power bonus from those gems with kings on you. While not a giant boost to attack power, with multiple items containing strength gems, it will add up.
It kinda disturbs me that my Mooncleaver will now look like it has Minor Beastslaying on it.
The blood-dripping part of the enchant glow is really nice, but the color is just too bright imho.
Here's a video (not mine) of the dripping-blood effect.
TBH: Vendor your 2h and get yourself a MH/OH combo, as any self-respecting Enhancement Shaman would. Rate me down please, I just had to drop this needlessly sarcastic comment.
Hi.
I have a question, should I put this or Crusader on my 2h Mace for Warrior level 39 twink?
I am pretty nooby at getting twinked up D:
The hunters in my guild agree that 35 Agility > 70AP because of the 0,9% crit
I like that a raider, all the way up to magtheridon doesn't know that druids paladins shamans and warriors should allways favor strength over attack power. This is just, oh wow :)
When comparing this to +35 AGI it is also important to note that this enchant is about 1/3 the price of +35 AGI. +35 AGI may be better but that is a lot extra to pay for what may be a marginal improvement (if it's an improvement at all... it all depends on you gear). I would go with savagry as a hunter unless you have awesome gear and an awesome weapon to put AGI on.
Very hard finding someone with this enchant now that WotLK is out! Most of those with it were around during Pre-LK so good luck.
I'd wager that the black in the screenshot is a built in black glow on "The Blackened Spear."
It angers and confuses me that this enchant has no graphics.
For Hunters 35 agi is probably better because that will give them 35 attack power AND nearly 1%, and once you have high RAP, Hunter damage scales very well with higher crit chance. There's also the fact that crit is much more useful to hunters in PvP for burst damage from strings of crits (as well as extra dodge).
For Warriors (especially fury), this is undoubtedly better than 35 agi, for the reasons given above.
For ret spec Paladins it would be a toss up, since crit benefits them a lot more than Warriors (vengeance), and ret gear in general tends to lack agi/crit, but I'd still say that the majority would go with 70 attack power.
When it says requires a level 35 or higher weapon does it mean the item level or the level you need to be to equip it?
Example: Could I slap savagery on Manslayer? (http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?item=10570)
Seriously, +35 Agi from enchant is 35 AP and 1% crit for Hunters. 70 AP is freakin sweet!
Great, was miffed when I paid out for 70AP and didnt get my precious glow
Why do i never see twinks with this?, i am making a lvl 39 warrior twink, what would be better? this or crusader?
No. The rules for TBC enchants are as following: If the item requiers level a level under 35, it cannot be enchanted. If the item does not have a requierment for levels, the ITEMLEVEL will have to be above 35. If it is, you can enchant TBC enchants on it. Examples: Req. Level 35, itemlevel 12 - Can be enchanted with TBC enchants. Req. Level 34, itemlevel 45 - Cannot be enchanted TBC enchants. Req. Level none, Itemlevel 34 - Cannot be enchanted TBC enchants. Req. Level none, Itemlevel 35+ - Can be Enchanted with TBC enchants.
Crusader ,because it procs a lot and also has a self heal. Crusader is superior for warriors.
Not to mention this can't go on account bound weaps, whereas crusader can..
I have a question.
For a leveling Ret Pally..this or potency?
Holy crap... I'm surprised there isn't any comments on this... 70 AP is gross!! Gawd think of all the lvl 39 twinks...
What color does the enchant give?
Recipe dropped for me in Shattered Halls, just need 20 more skill and I can start enchanting this baby ;).
Do you think you would rather have this? or +35 agility? For a hunter, btw. Agililty would only add 35 AP but adds crit chance, as well as armor, but this only adds 70 AP. I don't know, but im leaning towards this one.
I would rather take the 35agi and 1% to crit. My spec gives me 17% more agi from gear.
2% from combat exp
15% from lighting reflexSo I get more from agility.
As a hunter you have to be reliant on atk power. The 1% crit and small amount of armor you get fromt he 35 agi enchant is negligable in comparison to the whopping 70 atk power. AGI is just not that great anymore. Imagine a 70 atk power enchant on something like the Howling warsong axe or Sonic Spear. Insane atk power from a two hand weapon.
i can see this enchant is great for a warrior but how bout a retri paladin? or 35agi better because the armor given and crit increase?
Well actually savagery is better only at Kara level. BM's normal DPS (the one in the char screen) should be over 300 by then. After this, well ofc, go for as much agi as you can because your AP and crit are gonna be pretty much the same stat.
Seems good for a feral drood too
You're REALLY off. Agility is alot better than pure AP. Even in cat. More crit is a better idea that just pure AP. MAYBE for PvP this is good but not for PvE DPS
What's a fair price to charge for this enchant?
As far as I know, I'm the first Alliance character on my server to have it.
I don't want to over- or under-charge.
Well, 1x Large prismaticis about 20g on my server, and u need 4x for this one, and then u need 40x Arcane dust too, so i would think somewhere between 100g and 150g, or even up to 200g if you play on an crazy server.
Thing is - the 4 Prismatics and 40 Dust cost anywhere from 160-200g right now on my server (fairly low population). There are two people on the server with the recipe and I'm the only one high enough to do it. Right now, due to material costs and rarity, I'm charging 250g with my mats. I'm finding a fair number of people willing to pay, a lot of others saying I'm ripping them off and some others saying I should be charging more. I guess I'm going to stick to the price point for now. Anyone else have anecdotal evidence from their server about the availability and (in turn) cost of Savagery?
I got this on my Polearm a few weeks ago. It didn't cost a dime to have it put on my blade. I've seen several people advertising it for no charge with your mats.
which is better savagery or crusader before level 60?
it depends really, but personally, for my lvl 49 twink arms warrior, i am using savagery. The 70 ap is too much damage to pass up for any proc. if you have faster weapons though, i would go with crusader, because it will proc more as youll hit more, giving you a lot more survivability and burst damage.
