Potion Mastery working on Fel Strength Elixirs is a confirmed bug and will be fixed in patch 2.1.0.

Using an addon to count the proc for several weeks (AlchemyFu)

I got this results :
mats for 672 potions
>> 781 obtained
approximatly : 16% procrate

Most are x2 procs

Apparently, despite the "high-level" limitation in the description of this ability, it WILL proc for recipes introduced prior to TBC.

My potion master has been making a number of healing and mana potions for a low-level alt, and getting procs from them.

Given the difficulty of making large amounts of flasks and potions, for stuff like raiding. This is bull that the specializations dont work.

How to Drop Your Current Specialization:
Hit 'K' (or open your Skills tab). Above the icon for Alchemy, it will say Elixir Master, Potion Master or Transmute Master. There will be a small cross next to it. Click it, click 'unlearn' in the confirmation box.

How to Pick a New Specialization (as Alliance):
Go to Stormwind, Mage Quarter, find Lilyssia Nightbreeze in the building called Alchemy Needs. She will have three quests:

• Elixir Master
• 
  
• Potion Master
• 
  
• Transmute Master

Complete the quest, and you will earn your new specialization.

With the launch of WotLk, I find that Potions spec has severely suffered. Though healing potions are still a major part of my Tanking Panic buttons, instead of being my first action, it's now one of my last. The cooldown being restricted to OOC means I went from using 2-3 pots per encounter to 0-1. Which also takes away a great deal of the benefit of the trinkets, since I pot less, the 40% benefit isn't that great. I just flew my 70 to Zangarmarsh and it appears do you still need to do the initial quest for each specialization.

So I decided to make all of our potions for the month at once, and track procs.

Volcanic: 1960 casts, 369 procs, 18.8% +/- 0.88%
Concentration: 490 casts, 107 procs, 21.8% +/- 1.87%
Golemblood: 980 casts, 203 procs, 20.7% +/- 1.29%
Tol'vir: 980 casts, 196 procs, 20.0% +/- 1.28%

Total: 4410 casts, 875 procs, 19.8% +/- 0.60%

It's looking a lot like 20%.

Thus far I've been very satisfied with Potion Master. It tends to proc quite often, and I can often turn around Super Healing/Mana potions for more than the price of the mats I bought to make them.

As of 4.3.0, Transmutation Master, Potion Master and Elixir Master now have different requirements to learn/change your specialization.

Instead of paying 150 gold to change, it is now changed to 450 gold.

Bring the requested materials to an alchemy trainer in any capital city.

Transmutation Master
Requirement:
* Truegold x 4

Potion Master
Requirement:
* Mythical Healing Potion x 6
* Mythical Mana Potion x 6
* Potion of Treasure Finding x 2

Elixir Master
Requirement:
* Flask of the Draconic Mind x 2
* Flask of the Winds x 2
* Flask of Steelskin x 2
* Flask of Titanic Strength x 2

Just FYI. DO NOT click 'Unlearn This Specialization' next to your primary skill i.e. Alchemy. Click the 'Potion Master' (or whatever) icon and that will bring up the red circle that you want to click.

It still works with Wotlk potions, however, I'm thinking of switching since you can now only use one potion per battle.

I think Potion Mastery got nerfed at some stage. I use to be one, but it would only proc for me about 5% occurrence and only 1 extra pot. This also continued to happen to me for weeks on end, so I deserted Alchemy altogether...

Besides the sounding of the other success stories out there, IMO Pot Master is not worth it, that being if you copped the same or similar amount of luck (lack of...) as I did.

And which master is making proc for flask? or flask can't be proc :(

Elixir Master.

Made 278 golemblood potions, proc x3 once, proc x5 once, rest were x2. In the end i got 313 potions.
Sucks IMO. Ive had way more procs as elixir master making flasks.

I'd rather fly through BC areas and only pay 150g than pay a boat load of mats to make a simple change. Hopefully once you've done each quest you can swap w/o giving up all the mats AGAIN.

Just wanted to inform that for Potion Master quest you need normal Potions of Luck and not Greater Potions of Luck.

It's good to mention that you must have alchemy level of 475 or more to unlock these 3 quests

I, personally, am loving Potion Mastery. It procs quite often and the results are always helpful.

Just tonight I bought some cheap mats for Haste Potion on the AH, and got a x5 proc on one of them. It's also helpful to my guild mates, as they can bring me their potion mats and I will yield more Health/Mana pots than the expected.

On my server, runic mana/healing potions are still selling merrily at anywhere between 3-5g a pop. As a night elf, I can reset my potion cooldown at will on most fights, so I can still use more than one--and this helps immensely with keeping up with my own need for mana potions as well as making a little cash on the side with the extra healing potions. It'll be nicer when I manage to discover the three potion recipes only available through research--potions of speed especially are fantastic and more than worth my potion CD for certain fights. I think the Potion Master spec is highly underrated. I used to stick with the Elixir Mastery because of all the comments and guides out there. But I didn't find it very profitable on my server (I might be wrong about other servers).
This must be the least demanding spec there is. I climbed from 100g to 1,5k in 3 days after just by making pots!
The Indestructible Potions only needs Icethorn and vials! A stack of Icethorn goes for about 20g/stack on my server. And then they're @#$%ass expensive.
You need 2 stacks of Icethorn which equals 40g + the vials. And these are selling for over 60g so it would've been profitable even without the procs!
The only problem I got now is when I mass produce. The Pygmy Suckerfish are really hard to get for a decent price.

How do you learn this nowadays I went to the npc in zangarmarsh and there is no quest. Only quest i found from NPCs is the gem quest in dalaran.

Edit: Found it. Be aware that the quests do not become available till around the 450 to 475 area (not sure when exactly it showed up for me, just before you get to mythical mana pots).

The quest is now found in Stormwind and your main cities. At the Alchemy trainer. Somewhere after 375.

this the comment that needs to be stickied and upvoted. Calling on fellow alchemists to make suggestions that they allow us to proc once more, even if it means an updated quest for it!

I just had a nice experience with potion master, seems it is not limited to only potions but also procs off elixirs

I collected the following mats:
100 Netherbloom
70 Dreaming Glory
85 Felweed
20 Nightmare Vines
20 Terocone

This should have yielded the following
50 Super Mana Potions
35 Super Healing Potions
10 Fel Strength Elixirs
Instead I got the following
59 Super Mana Potions
53 Super Healing Potions
15 Fel Strength Elixirs

Has anyone been able to proc new Cataclysm potions? I am currently 525 Alchemy (Potion Master) and every new potion I have made so far has not procc'd.

Potion Master No procs! i make 40 Mana-Poition and absolutely no procs!

Wtf? Seriously? Why!

I just made 11 potions (5 Concentration and 6 Mythical Mana) and with Potion Mastery I managed to get 2 x2 on the concentration and 1 x5 on the Mythical mana ones. They must've changed it back so now Potion Mastery will make potions dubble sometimes.

You have to do one of the quest for specialization. Once you learn one, you can go to the trainer you learned it from and unlearn it for 150g. Then you can go to one of the other specialization masters and learn theirs without having to do the quest. As a side note, the transmute specialization quest is the easiest to do. You just have to give the guy 4 primal mights. You dont have to do raids etc to be able to complete it. So even if you want to be a potion master it is much easier to do the tranmute spec quest, drop it and then learn the one you want.

I just confirmed that this is true. I have seen posts stating there is a 450g charge and that was not the case.

Don't bother looking in Dalaran for any of the these master quests. Only typical cities, like Orgrimmar, Stormwind, etc.

As of 5.0.4 it's impossible to do the quests temporarily because MoP materials are required. They will become available when MoP opens up. The quests were updated too early. Source: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/6490580216

As of 4.3, you can no longer learn or unlearn transmutation mastery from npcs in the outland. You now unlearn your alchemy specialization by clicking on the red circle next to it in the professions window, and learn them from quests given by alchemy trainers.

Could someone confirm if potion mastery proccs on Swiftness Potions?
Regardless of the "High" level requirement i have seen some other posts about similiar potions?

Nevermind i picked potion master myself and i can confirm that it proccs. i got 2 x2 proccs and 1 x4 on 19 potions.

Where are the recipes?

So I know this is unrelated, but how the hell did you post this in April, yet Wowhead considered it Patch 6.0.1?
