This macro makes "SPIRIT MEND" act as a "NORMAL PLAYER" spell:

#showtooltip Spirit Mend
/cast [@playertarget, exists, help][@player] spirit mend

Macro explained:

#showtooltip Spirit Mend = shows the ability when you mouseover
/cast = casts a chosen spell
[@playertarget] = target players target (your target)
[exists] = if there is a target
[help] = only use the selected spell to help friendly targets
[@player] = use on player (you)
spirit mend = the spell

Overall explanation:
This makes your pet cast spirit mend on your target. If it's an enemy target it casts on you instead. If it's a friendly target it casts the spell on this target instead of yourself.

This scales VERY well with attack power.

you gain 100% of your attack power as bonus healing up front, and 85% of it as additional HoT

With any sort of AP proc you can nearly double the amount of healing you get from it.
