WoW Forever Legacy Points Guide: What to Buy First
Short answer: on a new alt, buy Talented first. On a level 60 main, buy Reinforce, Gourmand and Reagent Economy. If you make gold, buy Bountiful Harvest and Working Overtime. Your first points come from getting a class to level 25 and a crafting profession to 150 skill.
Written for the World of Warcraft: Forever (Classic Plus) beta and checked on 2026-09-29 against beta build 1.60.1.70058 and Blizzard's Legacy System article. Perks can change before launch on November 4, 2026. The builds are our recommendations, not official ones.
The rules in 30 seconds
- Three trees: Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness. 21 perks, 65 ranks in total (beta build 1.60.1.70058).
- Points are earned once per account and every non-Hardcore character can spend them.
- Each character can spend at most 16 points at launch (Blizzard). The client stores the same 16 as the limit on the Legacy currency.
- Beta planners report that deeper perks need 5 points spent in their tree, and that Dedicated Study, Frequent Flier and Reagent Economy need 10. The gate values are not in the client tables we read, so treat them as a beta report.
- Blizzard has not said what a rank costs. The builds below assume 1 point per rank. If ranks cost more, keep the order and stop when you run out.
Build: Alts and leveling (16 points)
For: You already have points on the account and are starting a new character.
| Perk | Tree | Ranks | What the client says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Talented | Adventure | 1 | You gain talent points every level starting at level 5 instead of starting at level 10, but you still may not have more than 51 total talent points. |
| Well Rested | Adventure | 5 | Your rested experience accumulates 20% faster and your rested experience cap is increased by 20%. |
| Thrill of Adventure | Adventure | 5 | You gain 5% of your maximum Health and Mana over 10 sec each time you deliver the killing blow to a non-trivial enemy. Ineffective in dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds. |
| Field Medicine | Adventure | 2 | Reduces the duration of the Recently Bandaged effect by 10 sec when you use a bandage. Ineffective in dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds. |
| Frequent Flier | Adventure | 1 | You receive a 50% discount on all flight paths, and your flight path mount flies 20% faster. |
| Bartering | Professions | 2 | Reduces the gold price of items from all vendors by 10%. |
Talented is the best leveling perk in the game, but only on a fresh character: talent points from level 5 means five extra points for the whole climb, and nothing at 60 because the 51 point cap still applies. Well Rested pays off most on alts that sit offline between sessions. Thrill of Adventure and Field Medicine cut the eat-and-drink downtime between pulls. Frequent Flier comes last because the beta reports it behind a 10 point gate in its tree.
Build: Level 60 raider (16 points)
For: Your main is 60 and you raid or run dungeons every week.
| Perk | Tree | Ranks | What the client says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reinforce | Resourcefulness | 5 | You take 20% less durability loss when you die. |
| Gourmand | Resourcefulness | 3 | Increases the duration of beneficial effects from eating food by 100%. |
| Permanence | Resourcefulness | 2 | Your class abilities which grant long-duration stat or attribute benefits to all party or raid members last 100% longer, and the benefits you gain from resting at a camp last 50% longer. |
| The Quick and the Dead | Resourcefulness | 2 | Increases movement speed while dead by 10% and your helpful spells and abilities cost no resources for 2 min after being resurrected or until you enter combat. |
| Reagent Economy | Resourcefulness | 1 | Your class abilities no longer require reagents purchaseable from vendors. |
| Diplomat | Resourcefulness | 3 | Increases your reputation gains by 10%. |
Everything here saves gold or time on raid night. Reinforce cuts repair bills from wipes, Gourmand doubles food buffs, and The Quick and the Dead makes your first minutes after a wipe free. Reagent Economy removes vendor reagents from your class spells, which adds up fast for buffers and anyone who buys powders and candles. Permanence is for classes that hand out long party or raid buffs; if yours does not, put those 2 into Diplomat instead.
Build: Gold maker (16 points)
For: You gather, craft and sell on the auction house.
| Perk | Tree | Ranks | What the client says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bountiful Harvest | Professions | 5 | You discover 100% more Scarce materials from Mining, Herbalism, and Skinning. |
| Working Overtime | Professions | 5 | Increases your chance to gain a skill increase from using any primary, secondary, or class-based tradeskill by 10%. |
| Dedicated Study | Professions | 1 | Increases your skill by 1 in your lowest tradeskill among your Primary and Secondary tradeskills. If you have already reached 300 skill in your two current Primary Tradeskills and all three Secondary Tradeskills, you will gain 3 of a random Elemental Essence. |
| Bartering | Professions | 2 | Reduces the gold price of items from all vendors by 10%. |
| Performance Bonus | Professions | 3 | You have a 15% chance to receive 100% increased Merchant's Favor when you turn in a crate to the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics. |
Bountiful Harvest doubles Scarce materials from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning, and scarce materials are what sells. Working Overtime makes every profession level faster, which also speeds up the 18 profession Legacy Points. Performance Bonus only matters if you turn in crates to the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics. Swap it for Master Chef or Luremaster if you cook or fish for profit.
Build: PvP (16 points)
For: You play battlegrounds and world PvP.
| Perk | Tree | Ranks | What the client says |
|---|---|---|---|
| For Great Honor | Resourcefulness | 5 | Increases Honor Points gained by 10%. |
| Diplomat | Resourcefulness | 5 | Increases your reputation gains by 10%. |
| Reagent Economy | Resourcefulness | 1 | Your class abilities no longer require reagents purchaseable from vendors. |
| The Quick and the Dead | Resourcefulness | 2 | Increases movement speed while dead by 10% and your helpful spells and abilities cost no resources for 2 min after being resurrected or until you enter combat. |
| High Alert | Adventure | 2 | Increases your ability to detect nearby targets with Stealth as if your level were increased by 2. Ineffective in Battlegrounds. |
| Gourmand | Resourcefulness | 1 | Increases the duration of beneficial effects from eating food by 100%. |
For Great Honor speeds up rank, and Diplomat speeds up the four battleground reputations. Both pay Legacy Points back: the PvP challenges are worth 12 points. High Alert does nothing inside battlegrounds, so buy it only if you fight rogues and druids in the open world.
Perks to skip (for most players)
- Talented on a level 60 character. At 60 you already have all 51 points, so it does nothing. Buy it on alts only.
- High Alert for PvE. Stealth detection only helps against stealthed players and mobs, and it is off in battlegrounds.
- Field Guide unless you use camps a lot. It shortens the cooldown on camp features. Useful for campers, easy to skip for everyone else.
- Master Chef, Luremaster and Performance Bonus unless it is your business. Strong for cooks, fishers and crate runners, wasted on everyone else.
How to earn Legacy Points fast
There are 65 Legacy challenges, each worth one point, and every point is shared across your Battle.net account. Blizzard's split: 27 from class levels, 18 from professions, 12 from PvP, 3 from dungeons, 3 from raids and 2 from adventure. The cheapest points, in order:
- Level 25 on a new class. Each class pays at 25, 45 and 60 the first time. A level 25 alt is the fastest point in the game, and with Talented and Well Rested bought, every alt after the first gets there faster.
- 150 skill in a crafting profession. Only Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking and Tailoring pay, at 150, 225 and 300. Gathering, cooking, fishing and first aid pay nothing. Points are account wide, so level different crafts on different alts.
- Dungeons while you level. Three points for bosses across level ranges.
- PvP Rank 3 and the Field of Honor weeks. Sergeant is quick; the Field of Honor Journey pays at weeks 4, 7 and 10. Rank 14 and the four exalted battleground reputations are the long tail.
- Raids and adventure at 60. Onyxia, Hyjal Summit, the Barrow Deeps, Explore Azeroth and the Lord Valthalak questline.
Hardcore note from Blizzard: a challenge earned on Hardcore counts on every ruleset, but one earned elsewhere does not count on Hardcore.
Every challenge, with its achievement, is on the Legacy Points data page.
