If you don't see the armor immediately when you complete the quest, a relog fixed it for me.

Heritage of the Dark Iron
Earn level 50 on a newly created Dark Iron dwarf character.

Once earned, the heritage armor can be used by any Dark Iron alts, including low level, boosted and race changed ones.
For all you would be warriors out there, boosting a character does not reward you with this armor set.
