Getting [npc=27217] from the Trading Post does not reward this Feat of Strength.

During the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics by winning any battleground on any level you have a chance to receive a Gold Medallion via the in-game mail. The Gold Medallion in fact summons (spell) a mini-pet called the Spirit of Competition (picture) in the form of a Chinese dragon.
By participating in a battleground game on any battleground, on any level, you will always receive a Competitor's Tabard, whether you win or lose.Lots of folks in my guild were asking how I got this pet and lots of folks were giving lots of (somewhat wrong) answers. The above way that K21Nova explained is the way that one obtained the pet (as well as being how I remember it). Granted, it is a moot point except for from a lore standpoint.
