can anyone put a useful comment here? ie, tips for getting the orbs, how to refresh the buff, all of these comments are unhelpful.

So, actual tips:

Don't crowd the forge, especially if you are going to afk, you could get passed an orb and the buff will die. either back up, or stand RIGHT next to the forge so it automatically deposits the orb. if you are afk, don't be mounted! mounting kills the buff.

You can pass an orb to yourself. keep yourself targeted and refresh the buff with plenty of time to spare.

Help other people kill lightning thieves.

Carried an orb, passed an orb to another player, had an orb passed to me, returned an orb, killed the thief. Nothing
Once the forge reached 150 (~20 minutes) everyone nearby got the achievement

Kinda sad that it is around for <24 hours and most of that was during a sunday night or monday worktime for EU
