The Most Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar

For anyone doing this in 2024, due to one-shotting everything, the Valley of Spirits objective is prone to bug out, and not complete.

The solution is to NOT one-shot the final boss in Valley of Spirits, auto-attack or use some weak ability, to get him to cast Hopelessness, run back to your body and then kill him.

This achievement is starting to become doable as the cloak nears rank 15, and a solo clear will be required for anyone looking to earn Mad World.

I completed a solo full clear with 5 masks today at cloak rank 12, item level 458, and only missing one talent from the data archive. (Since I do my visions solo, I have no need for the ally revival talent). I am a Beast Mastery Hunter which means I had a much easier time doing this than most classes will, but I do have some tidbits of advice I thought I would share for those aiming to earn this achievement.

1. If you find yourself in a position similar to myself regarding the data archive, you are no longer in a rush to earn Mementos. This means you'll likely want to skip chests and any packs of enemies that do not NEED to be killed. I took the Camouflage talent so I could sneak by enemies here and there, but the only Objective that really benefits from stealth (aside from the beginning area) is The Valley of Honour, as all that is required to complete that objective is defeat Rexxar. If you are like me and still do not have the [item=174653], then I would also advise skipping mail boxes, no matter how tempted you might be to stop and gamble.

2. There are a plethora of buffs found inside these Visions, and you'll want as many as possible to aid in your completion. There are potions and certain rare enemies that give significant buffs but I won't list them here as you can find all the details laid out elsewhere on WoWhead. All I will say is do NOT underestimate these buffs or think you don't need them. Remember to also bring along consumables, if you eat and rune before starting you won't need to re-apply unless you fail the vision, the talent that prevents your first death also prevents buffs from dropping off.

3. Know your class, and know the enemies. There is a lot to worry about in these Visions, and with the clock ticking behind you, it's easy to become overwhelmed. You have to be paying attention in order to avoid silly mistakes. Simply missing an interrupt can cost you your vessel and make you feel pretty bad. I ended up putting myself down frequently after messing up because I knew I was better than that. I found that I felt a lot better when I saved my vessels and set aside a block of time to just run visions back to back to back, this way if I made a mistake I knew I could correct it in the next run immediately rather than wait 3 days until I have a chance to do better. But of course, everyone is different and you may prefer to do the opposite.

4. Like almost everything else in life, patience will help you here too. Currently, your character is getting stronger and stronger every week by upgrading your cloak and earning new gear, if you pulled off a 4 mask run and KNOW you can't do a 5 just yet (Mask of the Long Night is a b*tch), you can always save your vessels until Tuesday to get a head start on the next upgrade, and get that little power spike. Every little bit helps.

5. This won't apply to everyone, and I ask that you save your judgement. If you're one of the many people who like to indulge in video games while under the influence, these visions are not the place for that. Wanna do well? Take it seriously, at least until you're comfortable. I'm not telling you how to live your life, just telling you how to do the best you can do in this challenge.
