Create the hero you want to be
Blizzard has announced details of the playable races, class combinations and updated racial traits coming in World of Warcraft: Forever. Race and class shape the hero players become, from the fantasy they embody to the role they take in the world, and each choice offers a different way to step into Azeroth's next chapter.
The Skyborne are a new playable race bringing their own identity to the unfolding story. Horde-aligned Windshapers can become Shamans, while Alliance-aligned High Order Skyborne can become Mages.
Meet the classes
Nine classes are available at character creation, each bringing its own abilities and roles, whether healing allies, dealing damage, protecting the group, or shifting between roles with tradeoffs. Blizzard advises players to consider both the class they want and the races that can become that class.
- Druid: shapeshifters in union with nature, tied to the plant and animal kingdoms
- Hunter: trackers who befriend and tame wild animals as pets
- Mage: wizards who call on the energies of the Twisting Nether and attack from a distance
- Paladin: warriors who protect the world from shadow and heal with the Light
- Priest: spiritual guides who wield powers of creation and devastation
- Rogue: stealthy killers who rely on poisons and silent projectile weapons
- Shaman: element-communing advisors and leaders who use totems and spells
- Warlock: demon-empowered casters who drain vitality and summon demonic entities
- Warrior: armed combat specialists united by a commitment to glorious battle

Racial traits
Each playable race has its own racial traits offering flavor and utility alongside the chosen class. Some traits have been updated for World of Warcraft: Forever, with adjustments that better support the expanded class options and give each race a stronger sense of identity while preserving its spirit.
The Horde is described as a loose alliance of convenience against a hostile world, valuing strength and honor but struggling to keep aggression in check. The Alliance is bound by traditions of nobility, honor, faith, justice and sacrifice. Blizzard lists the following traits per race.
