Formula: Enchant Gloves - Riding Skill

This recipe is one of the few recipes from before the expansion that should retain it's value afterwards. Will this be a trainer recipe at some point in the expansion? Otherwise it might be only rarely dropped due to items of it's level not being on the drop table of level 70 content.

I'd also like to know if anyone can confirm that this is trainable in The Burning Crusade.

I received this from a chest in the Hinterlands.

Why would this be valuable? One swappable trinket (Riding crop) allows 2 pieces of armor that no longer waste space in your bag and you can vendor your carrot. This enchant is now obsolete.

Riding crop + 2 pieces of armor + carrot = swooosch?

Riding crop + Spurs + Riding enchant stack... Riding crop does not seem to stack with carrot however.

Yano..I have enough trouble believing that hanging a carrot in front of my MECHANOstrider entices it to go faster. How the hell is whipping a piece of metal supposed to make it move faster? Can I hang out my car window and smack the side of it to go faster? lol anyway, this is an excellent enchant, and probably a staple for any serious enchanter. One of the only truly coveted enchants, along with 15agi to 1h and Crusader.

I have the mithril spurs, the carrot on a stick, and the riding crop. I thought they would all stack, but they don't. I time my mount with a stopwatch and here is what I got. I repeated each measurement 3 times to make sure I could measure accurately: riding crop + spurs + carrot: 6.62s 6.68s 6.64s riding crop alone: 6.68s 6.62s 6.55s nothing equiped: 7.37s 7.31s 7.25s It appears that the items do not stack. Once you have a riding crop, you can just ditch all the other stuff.

Yes, but that's not useable until level 70. So this enchant will still be useful for all leveling characters. Just not essential once you reach 70.

How many leveling characters are going to worry about spending money on increased riding speed? This enchant is now next to pointless and will by no means go for what it used to go for.

I actually sell it quite often. With the Spurs, which will go for 1/2G, and this enchant which will go for 15/20G, plus the Carrot on a stick, which is free from a quest reward, you have the equivalent of a Riding crop. The Crop was designed to take place of all three items, so you could free up the 2 enchanting spots on your gear, but requires level 69. What will you do until level 69? Use this. Its cheaper, since crops tend to go only for the price of the Primal Might, since most every LW uses it to level their skill anyways.

1/2 to 1/3 of all your /played from 40 to 69 should be on mount imo. 2 % of that is a lot.

My guess is it's the same as the run speed enchant, which is 8%. That's not a definite answer, just a guesstimate. And Unitepunx, the spurs, carrot, and enchant don't stack. It was mentioned earlier.

Spurs, carrot, and enchant DO STACK! The riding crop is what doesn't stack with anything (and is also what was mentioned about). There was a very detailed comment about this at thottbot, someone put a lot of time and effort into explaining it all, so I think I'll bring that information here since I found it very useful. Your normal run speed =100% Regular land/flying Mount = 160% Epic Land mount = 200% Swift Flying mount (commonly referred to as an epic mount because it requires epic flying skill, but actually the mount is rare, not epic) = 200% Running / 380% Flying Epic PVP armored Netherdrake = 200% Running, 410% Flying With the first 3 Pre-BC speed enchants Normal running mount = 174.4% Rovement speed Epic running mount = 218% Running speed Normal flying mount = 174.4% Running and flying speed Swift flying Mount = 218% Running speed / 414.2% Flying speed Epic PVP armored Netherdrake = 218% Running speed / 446.9% flying speed With the crop, Normal running mount = 176% Rovement speed Epic running mount = 220% Running speed Normal flying mount = 176% Running and flying speed Swift flying Mount = 220% Running speed / 418% Flying speed Epic PVP armored Netherdrake = 220% Running speed / 451% flying speed The Riding crop is therefore faster than the Pre-BC mount speed increase items, and allowes you to either not have to lug riding gear boots/gloves with you, or allow you to put more usefull enchants on your boots/gloves. as several blizzard developer posts have said on the blizzard forums...the intention of the riding crop was to be a replacement of the carrot so that you could use the enchant slots on your boots gloves, as well as go slightly faster than what was already there, NOT to make your mount twice as fast, a rocket sled, or anything else overpowered when it came to speed. In addition, there is some confusion about crusader aura. The riding crop does NOT stack with crusader. Crusader aura adds 20% speed to the mount you are using, which is 240%speed on an epic land mount...the 10% Increased mount speed of the crop is increases mount speed by 10% not adding 10%. Therefore 10% of 200 is 20 so riding crop=220% speed on an epic land mount... There are plenty of threads on this here that have confirmed that the most speed increase you can get from ITEMS is 10% which is what the crop gives. The pre expansion items combined gave 9% so it is a replacement, as well as a little faster. You either want the freed up enchant slots/bag space or not when it comes down to it. the speed is alot more for some (those that only had the carrot and not the spurs/glove enchant) and very little to others (those that used all three), but a speed increase none the less. I hope that this will help people to understand this well, and people won't continue to perpetuate any of the false info floating about regarding this issue.

It is a world drop - most effective place to farm it is the AH.

Now I just have one question on that. For the hunter you can get animal handler (2 pts = 8% mount spd) also says that don't stack with other effects. So if I have that I don't need any of the enchants or the carrot?? Please reply if you have an answer. Don't want to spend g on something that won't help my hunter.

If it says it doesn't stack, then all three of the pre-BC items put together would give you a tiny increase over your talented speed (1%), and the riding crop would be a tiny bit more (2%). On the one hand, it's not a lot so maybe not worth your money, on the other hand, 2% of all your riding time ever can add up. My advice? Roll a real class.

The enchant stacks with Carrot on a Stick and Mithril Spur, but doesn't stack with Riding Crop, Crusader Aura or Talents that increase mount speed.

Put this enchant on some white cloth gloves (and mithril spurs on some white cloth boots) with a minimum required less than 30, such as Padded Gloves (and Padded Boots).

Once you upgrade to the riding crop, you can sling the gloves and boots in your bank and hand them down to the next alt you roll.

I'm on Proudmoore. Found this formula in a chest in Azshara. Put it up on the AH for 450g buyout (it was the only one for sale). It sold within 10 minutes.

I also found it in a chest in Azshara, some time ago. Unfortunately, I didn't have an enchanter at the time, so I gave it to my wife. Dumb move...

This enchant does not appear to work at level 80.

I just found my second one of these, and now I have an enchanter (if you look above, I found one in Azshara a while ago, and gave it to the wife). My second one dropped from Cuergo's Hidden Treasure.

Incredibly hard to get. I spent the past few months checking the AH on my realm regularly and I've never seen it on there. Hopefully I'll get it, once... It's one of the very few enchants I am still missing.

I literally browse it for the few BoE enchants and tailor patterns that I'm missing every time I get near a major city. Over 96% of recipes in game for both professions.... seriously WTB. lol if those molten core farmers think 29sp/30sp sells well, they can't imagine what I would pay for this.

The spellpower ones are farmable. To be fair, this is not. Your best bet is to get a friend to help you kill the world dragons each time they respawn, and use an alt to check when they have respawned. While I imagine this would bring in absolutely massive profit margins, selling large amounts of scrolls might take some time - although the mats are very cheap, there's only a limited number of people who will bother paying a decent amount for such a small riding speed increase. The MC spellpower scrolls are very highly sought after because they make a huge difference, and while the mats are quit

I still don't have this enchant. Lol, been checking the AH several times a day every day and it has never been on just yet. I know, this enchant won't sell too well, but I happen to be a completist. It's not about the usefullness. For example. I have the beastslayer enchant. I see the lesser beastslayer formula on the AH for say, 50g. Will I use the enchant? No. Doesn't mean it's not an enchant I didn't have yet. (don't worry, I do have them both :P). If I happen to see the 29 spellpower formula on the AH, I'll buy it, even though I already have the 30 spellpower one. Same applies to this for

After several failed attempts to get this to drop from the world dragon, I casually browsed the AH this morning and found it listed for 55G! BUYOUT KTHX!

FINALLY I get this to drop off Lethon. World Dragon farming is your best bet. I'm hoping there's a resurgence of people wanting this enchant while leveling up their new Goblin and Worgen characters for Cataclysm. I sure know I'll be using this + mithril spurs!

Someone put this formula on AH for 50 silver (Bladefist EU) - I'm dead f***ing serious. God I'm starting to love ppl who don't use wowhead. The formula is easily worth 5k gold. I never saw it on AH in 3 years checking it on my enchanting toon. I wish you all luck mates, like me - you never know when it will strike :D ...so keep checking AH every day.

I just got one randomly. Was gonna go peek through Uldum. Killed an earthen just inside the big gate in southern tanaris, and it dropped this.

Looking at the extremely low drop rates and the fact that you will probably never see it again, DO NOT put this on the auction house for 400g or even 5kg. I took a wild guess and threw mine up on the AH for 25,000 and it was bought up within a day. So go big before you decide to settle for a lower price.
