This is one of the components for the Auctioneer that can be constructed in your trading post. Once you get a [building=144], you will find a broken [npc=87205] on the floor. To fix it, you need to complete the quest [quest=36948] which requires 5 modules. Each module is made up of 3-4 components, which individually drop in specific places. Note that all modules and individual components can be traded, vendored or auctioned.

Seeing as there's still no reported drops from raid bosses, it's safe to say this only drops from Invasion satchels and Garrison raid bosses whereas the other three Arcane Crystal parts also drop from LFR as well. Personally, I have gotten it in all four of the different invasion satchels from the bronze reward, [item=120320] to the platinum reward, [item=122163].

You sure it was this particular part? I've seen every other part drop a dozen times but never the focusing lens from LFR, there's still no reported drops on Wowhead and the AH prices are [s]10[/s] 30 times higher than the other parts of this module.

@"Eminence on 2014/12/19 (Patch 6.0.3) i got one in highmaul LFR last week, from the Butcher. " This item is not on The Butcher's loot list under any difficulty; you must be talking about one of the other pieces, not this Focusing Lens. The reason this one particular Arcane Crystal Module piece is so much more valuable than the 3 others is because it can ONLY be obtained via garrison invasions, not raids/dungeons or anywhere else.

It's quite simple really. It's a low % drop from a boss that itself is only spawned from a rare drop reward from garrison invasions, and which in turn requires at least a raid group to complete. You'll be lucky to get a PUG for it these days, since the boss only drops ilvl 645 items.

You can virtually force invasions by doing the corresponding assault quests of course, as in the daily quest as well as those started by the missives sold by the garrison quartermaster. You attack the iron horde, the iron horde retaliates, you attack the botani, the botani retaliate - or at least they try. Not every assault quest forces an invasion though, sometimes they need their butts kicked more than once. (e.g. Doing both Shattrath assaults is highly likely to trigger an invasion. Also, killing the "blue" rares in the assault areas seem to yield a higher chance at it.)

I got one on the first invasion garrison quest I did. Was looking in the AH for other parts, saw these for 30k and up. So I did the kind thing of posting one for sale for 20k. We'll see if anyone jumps on that.....but in reality most of the parts I got from random drops all over. I have not done a single raid or dungeon since cata so they were all found in draenor.
