Intel reduction procs only serve as comic releif. Yes, this axe is cheap and available, but there are already easy replacements. Consider the quest-reward Optimus Prime with STR and Hit, making it far superior for 2h Fury. If raiding anything above 5-person is out of the question, then grind out AV exalted and buy a The Unstoppable Force. You'll be much happier and much deadlier.

I'm not quite sure why everyone thinks this weapon sucks. It is good for any Warrior period. I guess everyone that plays the game missed these changes that were placed in game months ago. This is from Blizzard on one of the patch notes. Instant Attacks The mechanics of most instant melee attacks have been modified to improve item balance. Previously, instant melee attacks did damage based on the damage range of the weapon, plus a bonus for the player's attack power. This bonus was then multiplied by the speed of the weapon. As a result, slow weapons did more damage than was intended, and fast weapons were considered inferior by most players. We have changed the way the attack power bonus is calculated for instant attacks. This change does NOT affect attack power calculations for normal melee attacks. Instead of multiplying by the speed of the weapon, the attack power bonus is now multiplied by a fixed number pulled from the following table: Two-handed weapons: 3.3 (this means the 2.1 speed of Brain Hacker is considered 3.3 and so is the damage range when using an instant attack) Daggers: 1.7 All other one-handed weapons: 2.4 As a direct result of this, many weapons have shifted position in their relative power. In particular, many Epic (purple) quality items are now more powerful than slower Superior (blue) weapons. This change was not made to reduce the power of instant attacks, but to correct the relative imbalance of weapon itemization. At a given level requirement, epic quality weapons should always be more powerful than superior quality weapons. Please also note that all normal weapon swings will be completely unaffected by this change. The following abilities are affected by the design change: Sinister Strike, Ambush, Backstab, Whirlwind, Mortal Strike, and Overpower. So you tell me why this sucks? 3.3 speed on instant attacks is not too bad at all. 3.6 or 3.8 is better of course but it is not bad at all. This weapon is also a great one for Shamans and Paladins since they use auto attack. The proc is 25% of the swings so it definately makes up for the damage lost from stats on other weapons.

It doesn't "suck" as most of the nay-sayers will comment. Most people have a very narrow focus about what is good and bad for players out there. It's important that it work for your style. As far as 2H axes go it's not too shabby. I think most people however prefer the easily attained reward from exalted AV rep called Unstoppable Force --http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19323 They prefer that weaon because it has fun stats, a bonus to %crit, a possible stun proc (which is important as an interrupt), AND it has a few more dps. I think the mysterious "proc rate" is what keeps people away from th

You're....very, very wrong. Yeah instant attacks use a normalized speed for the attack power component. They deal the increase in damage which would be given per swing on a (for 2h) 3.3 speed weapon. The speed is a lot less important because of that. But the weapon damage is exactly the weapon damage listed. 95-143. As opposed to, say, 175-292 on an Unstoppable force. That's a lot of damage. That's exactly what makes this item so terrible. It could be used, I guess, by a prot paladin grinding, using SoR and Reckoning, but other than that-no. It's garbage.

You are correct but you don't count in that slower weapons will STILL automatically have higher average damage even after the change. The ice barbed spear is muuuuuuuch better than this. The Brain Hacker is bad. period.

This weapon *DOES* suck for an MS warrior, and almost all 2h using classes at that matter. Why? They need the slowest weapons they can find. Yes, weapon speed was normalized, but damage sure wasn't! It isn't really the speed that matters, it's the top-end damage. However, the top-end damage is always higher for slower weapons, making slower weapons more favorable.

This weapon is pretty much a pile of trash for anyone on alliance side, and still isn't all that hot for shamans. All leveling paladins should have Seal of Command. It by far does the most damage of any seal. SoC is procs per minute (PPM) so the speed doesn't make it proc more/less. Thus, the slower the weapon, the more benefit you will reap from SoC, the damage seal of choice for paladins. For shamans, you tend to use Windfury in PvP mostly, (leveling too, i know, but even so, you use rockbiter sometimes) and in PvP you want a lot of burst damage. You get more burst with slower weapons, and this weapon is about as fast as a 2h can get. Windfury may proc less, but those few procs willl be 2-3x as strong with a slower weapon.

For warriors, this weapon sucks because of it's speed. 2h Warriors are MS warriors, and use MS (Mortal Strike) as a prominent source of damage, especially in PvP (because it's instant, great for burst dmg). Because MS is based off of your top end damage only, which this weapon has very little of, slower weapons will be leagues better.

I hope this helped clear a little bit up =D

I've used this in PvP and PvE and it works great. I also use TUF but for plain grinding this weapon blows TUF away and almost anything else away (before they put in DW). Winfury procs pretty much non stop with this and the proc on this weapon goes off 2-6 times a fight and a lot of times it will proc twice off one hit (I'm not quite sure how but it does). The proc also says 200/300 damage and it is more like 140-250 damage (I thought mobs just resisted it but I've tried it on tons of mobs and it is the same no matter the type or lvl). The proc does crit and I've had it crit for 450+ many

If a Ret paladin wants to use a weapon that procs, then a fast speed is better, cos they do not have as many attacks like a warrior does. MY Retribution paladin used Kang & yes the massive damage blows were nice but the wait inbetween attacks was a nightmare. This with Crusader on it would be a dream for a Retribution paladin...a warrior should go for something a bit slower with a meatier damage range.

This axe sucks! Its too fast for a 2handed and the high end damage is poor for it's level! For two handed its the slower the better for those lovely crits n BIG hits. Also it doesnt offer any solid stats either - just some useless proc!

Given the low item level, would this be useful at all in PVP/Arena for a level 80 Ele shaman? Strictly for swapping out to kill the casters, then swapping back to my main weapons to continue killing "normal" enemies. I'm afraid the low dps and mystery proc rate might make this way too inefficient for an 80 character, but I sure would like a caster-specific weapon.

Metalchic+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

weapons like this have the opportunity to be disproportionally more powerful than slower weapons of the same DPS for Retribution Paladins. this is due primarily to the fact that Art of War does not run on a PPM system but a set proc chance. since exorcism's damage runs off your attack power/spell power your overall weapon damage wont affect it and your crusader strike and Templar's verdict are normalized it will be treated as if it was a 3.3sec swing time with the same DPS. since exorcism will do similar damage with this as with a weapon like treant's bane only proc considerably more often and generate considerable damage spikes.

Interestingly, I just watched a video titled "Oldest World of Warcraft Trailer (2001)" and all of the orc characters used the Brain Hacker model as their default two-handed axe. The Brain Hacker might just have the oldest Two-Handed Axe model in the game! You can also tell that this trailer was made so early on in development that Tauren's boots actually covered their hooves.
