One of the most nostalgic items, in my opinion. I still remember the feeling of having this crafted in Ironforge, then going out and owning people at Tarren Mill, just cause.
I can remember when this dagger was such a HUGE deal. My friend got the recipe and was crafting them for 4-500 gold each (which was a ton of money then; this is back when having an epic mount was rare).
Very cool nostalgic item.
Just from two comments I can tell why this was chosen to be one of the heirloom daggers.

Possibly named after Fafhrd's offhand dagger, which he always called Heartseeker.
Finding a balance is important, it's too easy right now.
"Giant pain in the ass" is not "hard and cool"
Amen, when I had it crafted I put a Lifestealing enchant on it and to this day it's propably one of my single most cherished posessions.. too bad I picked up Gutgore Ripper and Corehound Tooth 2 days later heh.
Blizzard seems to agree, as it has been immortalized as an heirloom.
Trying to figure out why this still has strength on it. Granted, no one in their right mind would use this thing anymore, but the stats still need to be updated.
I know it is only 12 years after your comment, but... now it has Agility.
They fixed that. sorta. but i agree, they have been moving away from extremely hard to craft, amazingly powerful items since vanilla ended, towards not so op items with low drop rates. But i do think vanilla was just really inconvenient with some of the things.
damn... look at the mats, the game was hard and cool, now things are easy as hell...
