This weapon will last you as a Shaman atleast until you can use a Twig of the World Tree. VERY nice damage with good melee stats. This is a pretty rare drop even for a boe, so if you see this for cheap snap it up. It's worth every copper.

I recommend this for a retribution paladin using SoC. The high base damage at that level is great, better than Mograine's Might (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=7723) or Ravager (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=7717). I got it for10g from a friend, so it should be fine to pay around that, or if you find it on a drop than even better.

This underestimated two handed axe is capable of inflicting very heavy damage with Mortal Strike, Seal of Command and even Windfury strikes. Due to its very slow speed, high top end damage and a whooping 23STR (which equals to 46AP) it'll make you hit like a truck. Definitely a worthwhile weapon until the player hits level 50. The price also various from servers (about 15g-60g). As a level 51 retribution Paladin, I purchased this weapon back when I was level 39 and it's served me beyond well - I've been scoring up to the 700s with my SoC crits and I've seen other players doing Mortal Strike for just as much. It's also deadly as well for a enhancement shaman when the WF kicks. Slapping on a +7 dmg enchant on this axe is like the finisher on cake :D

Other weapons within the lvl 40s range like Blade of the Titans, Blanchard's Stout, Blight, Ragehammer, Truesilver Champion, Gatorbite Axe, Taran Icebreaker and Warmonger are all good alternatives, but the cleaver is no doubt the best choice if you desire high burst damage. The famous Kang axe (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2291) is a solid alternative if you're thinking about twinking (otherwise, the cleaver is significanty cheaper and will serve you just as well).

This axe will serve you very well and if you're a lvl'ing up as a ms warrior, ret pala or enh shammy! I recommend you try picking it up if you're within your lvl 40s or even late lvl 30s. Once you reach level 50+, some nice upgrades will be available to you.

While +7 dmg is great and cheap, the more expensive savagery would be my enchant of choice (as a twink of course, if you plan to continue leveling by all means do not waste your money on a savagery). Doing the math Savagery (70AP) will give you a bonus of approximately 23 top-end damage on this weapon. 70 AP / 14 = 5 DPS 5 DPS * 3.8 Speed = +19 Mid-range Damage 19 Mid * 1.20 = 22.8 top end dmg (20% for the increase from mid-range to top-end. Savagery would increase this weapon's top end damage (after strength) to 227. Someone please correct me if this is incor

The 20% variance is only correct for this weapon if you have 0 attack power so it is not interesting when calculating top end damage. It should not be used when calculating damage gain from extra attack power. If you as a warrior have 700 attack power, including the savagery enchant then the damage would be calculated like this: min = (700 / 14) * 3.8 + 127 = 317 avg = 41.8 + (700 / 14) * 3.8 = ~ 349 max = (700 / 14) * 3.8 + 191 = 381 I just rolled a new warrior and he is wielding this migthy axe at the moment. I couldn't find any savagery enchants on the auction house, and the ma

Picked this up at 43 and used it until i got Ice Barbed Spear at 52. Great axe and not near the cost as other 2-handers in this lvl range, (like Kang). I would recommend this to any warrior or Pally. Save your money and pick this up if you get a chance.

Bojo+28via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Executioner's Cleaver is better then Kang. Way better. The +23 strength bonus gives 46 attack power, and the +10 hit rating gives around 1.33(333333333333333333) hit chance at level 49. Sure, Kang has more weapon damage and DPS, but the +23 strength and 1.33 hit chance will equal to that in the long run. On the other hand, Kang does have a chance on hit ability. Though you'll have to consider that if you are an imbalanced twink, you will probably kill your enemy way before that proc has faded.

Also, that proc will probably not even happen on your first hit, so the effect will most likely have even LESS time to "finish". And lastly, since the stats on Executioner's Cleaver are 'permanent', you can expect them to help you in every single fight, wich means that Kang, compared to Executioner's Cleaver is based on luck, but The Cleaver is predictable and you don't have to hope for some useless dot. Don't let your eyeballs pot out just because Kang is purple.

A really nice axe, however if you're an axe kinda guy (like me:) and having trouble finding this axe on your realm, this is a worthy alternative: [Will of the Mountain Giant] as a fast axe with good damage. You won't get the big instant attack crits but you will save a fair bit of money and hassle.

Edit: just worth mentioning i believe this axe is only available to horde players

If you can pick this up at a decent price, I can't stress enough how worth it it is to get this until you can get IBS. On my Ret Pally, this increased my average DPS by a good 20% over Mograine's Might. It would probably have very similar effects on an Arms Warrior.

13133+7via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Mograine's Might is horrible for Ret pallies - 2.80 is far too fast. It's much better to use a green 3.40 weapon than a blue 2.80 weapon. If you don't know why, well, you're a perfect example of why people have always laughed at Ret pallies.

Just picked that axe from the AH for 40g. It's an awesome weapon and a nice upgrade from the Obsidian Cleaver. +23 Str from damage is awesome. My damage went from 226-277 at 42 with the Obsidian Cleaver to 292-360 with this weapon !

Cyphaze+2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

The 23 strength on this gives it an effective DPS of 45.1, which is comparable to Kang's 47.4. If you consider the fact that this is slower than Kang's and also has hit rating (at a level range where it is very unlikely that you will be hit capped), personally I'd take it over Kang's, especially for a Ret Paladin twink. The Kang proc is nice, too, but since Kang usually costs three to four times as much for what amounts to a sidegrade at best, this looks to be one of the best 49 twink 2-handers in the game.

Swordy+5via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

It's a great weapon, leveled two Warriors to 60 and beyond and I remember worrying about weapon upgrades from the Whirlwind Axe. This is a great upgrade if you can find it cheap, but also consider http://www.wowhead.com/?item=9413. It's damage is roughly the same and you can use The Rockpounder 3 levels lower. I think the Executioner's Cleaver is better, but just marginally for Warriors.

127260+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

On the issue of this vs Kang First: although Kang only does 2 more dps than this but 2 dps is alot (with 3.6 speed that equates to +7.2 more dmg per swing) Second: Kang looks cooler and you seem more intimidating with it

Kartel+2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Actually: (DPS + (Attack power / 14)) X Weapon speed = Weapon Damage Kang is: (47.4 + (500 / 14) ) X 3.6 = 299.2 Executioner's is: ( 41.8 + (546 / 14 ) ) X 3.8 = 307.04 I got Executioner's with +9 Dmg (cause I'm not gonna waste tons of gold on mongoose) and the crits are very nice on my Ret Pally using Seal of Command. I highly recommend this weapon for level 49 Ret Pally twinks. Edit: Assuming you're Attack Power is at least 500... hopefully it's a lot higher. I'd say about 900+ for 49 Ret Pally with Blessing of Might

44717+4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

i have both Kang and Executioner on my 49 twink shaman, i use this far more. Seems to do way more average damage than kang because of Windfury. Kang's proc is worthless it seriously NEVER procs, even if they did, they dont last more than 10 seconds vs me.

As a comparison for those who love dps, I did the math for Soulkeeper (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=1607) versus Executioner's Cleaver. Check it. (DPS +(AP/14))*weapon speed = Weapon damage (41.8+(546/14))*3.8=307.04 for Executioner's (46.6+(500/14))*3.8=312.74 for Soulkeeper. In short, Soulkeeper will hit a bit harder. However, for twinks, if you're an orc, Executioner's is better because of the 5 expertise you get as a racial. Anyone else doing MS or windfury should be using Soulkeeper. Hope this helps.

Twinking thinking... For twinking I really recommend this weapon; as a warrior or a shaman (and pally?never played one so donno) you'll dubble ATP of the STR so that will give you 46ATP that --what I know-- is around 3.2dmg/hit, by that the weapon will give 130.2 - 194.2 and throw on a +7dmg (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27967 ) that will give 137.2 - 201.2 damage. If you now compare this to the Kang the Decapitator (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2291) ) Executioner's Cleaver comes out better with its 1.27%hit@49 and minor parry inc, and Kang only having a minor damage over time and the 0.2sec faster speed ain't worth it.

Executioner's Cleaver+crusade= chance to give 100STR=200ATP for warrior, shaman (and pally?) = +14.28dmg for 15sec. (141.28 - 205.28 Damage for 15sec) Executioner's Cleaver+Savager= 70ATP=132 - 196 (permanent).

Executioner's Cleaver+Potency=20STR=40ATP for warrior, shammy (and pally?) = 2.8damage/hit. (129.8 - 193.8 Damage)

As for the price compare; Executioner's Cleaver+Major striking: 45g@AH(pendling/server/seller) + mats for enchant 2large prismatic - around 40-50g, 6greater planar - around 30g, 6arcane dust - around 6g. That will say around "only" 90-135gold.

Kang the Decapitator: 255gold.

Happy pwn'ing! ;D

Leveling a ret pally with this baby, third character to do so (others were MS warr and pre-2.0 enhancement shammy). Although the average price has gone up it's still a fairly cheap weapon for the mileage you'll get out of it. It'll serve you well until you can get your hands on an Ice Barbed Spear, no doubt, and in the leveling crawl that feels like the mid-40s it'll certainly be a trusty companion. Also great for twinks as noted above, the extra hit rating and AP is much more beneficial than Kang's proc especially if you NEED to land that MS/WF/SOC to take down a flag carrier. Slap Mongoose, Savagery or even Executioner on this puppy and you'll be rocking people in the face.
