Sadly, this dagger has no place. These 2 slots you don't want to change for resists (on a rogue) are the weapons. Not only is this item usually over priced, but it never lives up to expectations. 10 FR is not worth the stat loss of (lets say) Corehound Tooth. It's too fast to make a good mainhand, and the proc/stat composition makes it a weak offhand.

Save your money.

I think this weapon will be really good come 2.0 because of the new talent Combat Potency. You need a really fast dagger (preferabily 1.3) in order to gain enough energy. So get this dagger with 5 points in Combat Potency.

The best use for Alcor's would be an offhand for a SS or Hemo rogue. The 1.3 speed, being the fastest in game, gives this dagger a much higher chance to apply poisons via the offhand. A poisons build rogue with the Alcor's for an offhand would be very deadly with the amount of poison procs hitting the target.

Although this is one of the fastest daggers in the game, I have to disagree that it's viable for a rogue. Generally, there are just too many offhand daggers out there with MUCH better stats and are still pretty fast. If you're in any kind of raiding guild, I definately would not bother buying this. I agree with the poster that said the 10 FR just isn't worth it. Even if your build relied heavily on poisons, I don't think the small speed difference would have a large enough effect on your poison procs to make this weapon worth it. If you weren't in a raiding guild, I'd probably go with something like bonescraper: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13368 It may have less dps, but it has good stats, is pretty fast, and doesn't cost money.

Not sure what the odds are on this, but just snagged this on my rogue off a Heavy Junkbox pickpocketed from an Infernal Warbringer. I was, to put it mildly, stunned.

I remember back pre-TBC, our MT for MC used this dagger for quite some time. Rather strange weapon for a tank, but he used it and did a good job with it. Kinda of an odd site to see a tank with a dagger...especially one that isn't that great

Responding to a post somebody made months ago, yeah. But anyway this was a great tanking weapon, not only because of the fire resist, but because of the speed. Back in the pre-BC days you got the majority of your threat from sunders and heroic strike. Heroic Strike was very important for aggro back then, which is why this weapon was great for tanking. It was super fast, which meant more heroic strikes.

This is another of those 'Can be found in lockboxes' items. I managed to pick one up while Heavy Junkbox grinding for reputation. As the Wowhead looter didn't work for me for some time, I haven't got it installed to add to the 'dropped by', unfortunately. :(

The stats on the following [item=14555] as showen above are outdated. I just saw this dagger in the AH and checked WoWHead for further info.  I was surprised to see that at some point Blizzard must have altered the stats on this dagger.

I've taken a screenshot via the Mobile Armory and when I transfer it to my PC I'll submit it.  The current stats are as follows:

[item=14555] BoE One Hand Dagger Speed - 1.30 Dmg - 44-77 (45.4 DPS) Durability - 75/75 Required Level - 58 Item Level - 63 Blasts a target for 90 Damage

When the two are compared the changes are obvious.  The fire resistance has been removed and the amount of fire dmg is fixed at a static +90 dmg as opposed to ranging from 75-105. +90 dmg being exactly inbetween the aforementioned range would on average not change the dmg output of this proc, over the long haul, when all the mean of a few hundred procs using the old range would average out to be about +90 dmg. Everything else has remained the same.

Seems odd that Blizzard would nerf an already "so so" epic?  A low level Epic, that even in it's heyday, was considered not worth the money and much better items could be obtained quite easily.

But at second glance, there was a KEY change in how that damage was applied.  Note the old description "Chance on Hit:......". The new description states:

"Blasts a target for 90 Damage" This may mean nothing and it's still a % chance of proc per hit, or could it be per hit? Would seem overpowered if the effect was not proc based.

Slapping a [item=38838] would make a nice low level flame blade of death!

Behold the dagger of Flaming Death!

(Warning:  Blizzard cannot be held responsible for burns or spontaneous human combustion while handling this dagger.  It is advisable to use the enclosed oven mitts to reduce fire dmg.)

Edited: after viewing the downratings I started to doubt my above new itemization, so when I saw it a second time I closely compared my stats to above stats, thinking I'd made a mistake, which I had not, posting picture of item now.

849660-1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Just confused as to why my post is being down rated, the stats for this item are 100% correct. There is currently another one of these items in the AH and the stats are exactly as I've stated. I'm simply trying to inform people about the correct itemization for this weapon. I can garuntee that whoever down rated me has not seen this item post patch 4.3, or if they did they did not examine the stats correctly. I will personally cut out my still beating heart, I'm wrong. Now that I've seen it twice, I'm absolutely confident. I'm going to post a picture of said item now.

I uploaded my pic a few days ago, and it has yet to appear. Please, if anyone else sees this on the AH can you confirm what I've posted is correct, I swear on my life that the above stats are now the correct ones on this dagger. Please help me correct the inaccurate stat info on this dagger as it appears. I'm only trying to provide more accurate data by informing others as to the actual in-game stats of this weapon post patch 4.3.

I just saw this in the AH, and I think you are incorrect about more than a few things. The fire resistance is still on the weapon. The Dmg is 41 - 77, and the DPS is 45.6. Also, it's still Chance on hit. I came here to look up this weapon because it's 100g on Uldum server, Alliance side. I was curious about it. I'm sorry if you thought you were right. I thought you were too until I inspected the weapon a bit further.

sigh, i got this item 3 times, from junkbox while i was farming them for Teebu's Blazing Longsword and rep. apparently it's rarer than Teebu's Blazing Longsword but why cant i get the damn sword. this is frustrating as hell.

Happystewie+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

This dropped after 32 runs of Molten Core. There is no 'good' or 'right' way to farm these with any success other than using the Auction House, but for those doing self-found or wanting to farm it personally, you just gotta pick a spot and kill. Might take 5 runs, might take 500, there is no promise. You should hunt other things to keep from going insane or take breaks. I truly wish you the best of luck.
