I have two of these as tanking weapons on my Death Knight, tanking old school raids. Kinda funny to see how easy tanking with a death knight is now, compared to tanking with a warrior or the very occasional paladin/bear back then.

The price on cores is going down daily it seems, but this sword is still waay overpriced. I suppose if you run a farmer sweatshop or something and have limitless gold, go for it. It is a great tanking weapon... that you'll be using for 2 months, at most.

I kind of regret making myself one of these. As is apparent with the level 80+ green drops, dodge/parry on a weapon is no longer really sought after...but this excellent little blade spoils me. If only it had a better look to it.

Dodge and Parry not sought after? Seriously? Dodge and Parry are pure avoidance, as opposed to mitigation. Even shield tanks are hot after Dodge and Parry. The fact that you posted this post-Cataclysm makes me wonder what game you have been playing.

to emphasize on this, actually, one needs to take into consideration that the only stat more important than dodge/parry, to a shield tank, is mastery (before CTC, that is). but mastery is not available at level 60, making you wonder _what_ stat exactly is sought after, rather than dodge/parry =P

It's amazing for it's time, since when this kind of weaponry was released, Blizzard had a strange way to develop gear (wierd stats/speeds so you couldn't be sure what kind of spec should use them); but this little blade fulfills its utility amazingly: has good speed, decent top-end damage (for threat generation), 90+ health (it was not that few for Vanilla) and parry (I suppose it used to be defense) rating on the side. These kind of all-out tanking items was rare on Vanilla, since proper gearing only began truly with AQ, maybe BWL, and even rarer on a craftable BOE. Regarding the mats, they were a bit prohibitive, but then again this was amazing.

This is an excellent weapon if you use Dark Iron Plate for transmog. Of course putting together the materials for the entire set is painful, it just looks great.

I'd say this is a good dual-wielding alternative to [item=13348], if you don't want to break the looks when you swap specs. Or [item=10823], which is closer in color scheme, but (a) looks too heavy for my taste and (b) no longer obtainable. Could be better if it would sheath on the back, though. IMO.
