Design: Deadly Noble Topaz

Please post where this recipe can be obtained. This is obviously a bit better than the +8 agil for the MM hunter, as they gain a bit more from the +AP. Though +4 crit is slightly less crit than +8 agil while the ap on both gems is the same. Survival hunters will laugh at this gem...

as with the other rare gem cutting designs, this one thought to be a world drop. I just bought it off the AH.

The 10% AP talent counts for your total AP, so you'll also get 10% from the AP you get from agility. For red sockets the +8AGI will always be better, since MM hunters have an extra 2% AGI talent and the 10% AP talent which will affect it + the armor and dodge bonus of course. However this is a nice gem if you'd like to get some AP from Yellow sockets.

dropped for me today froma trash mob at the Mechanar. this makes it a world drop.

I believe this recipe was added in the recent 2.1 Black Temple patch. As such, and being a world drop, it has had less time to spread in the market, and prices for it are high. Also contributing to the high cost of this recipe are the fact that the final gem is quite desirable for DPS classes. This one is definitely a good pattern to grab if you want to cut a nice profit JCing (if you can find it for cheap, that is).

This is really only desireable for rogues and hunters. Everyone else would be better off with the Inscribed Noble Topaz. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24213 The Inscribed Noble Topaz gives 4 strength which is 8 attack power (for all melee classes except rogues and hunters) plus all of the other cool stuff strength does (armor, etc), while they both give +4 Crit Rating. The high population of rogues and hunters, though, may be driving the price of this gem.

Strength does not increase the armour,only enhances melee attack power and shield block... so the gem is useful for all physical damage dealers.
