They appear to be making more tanking and healing gear available to blacksmiths. This will be the first trainable and very easy to make, if I'm not mistaken, healing weapon or caster weapon really. But I'm sure holy pallys will be glad to have this.

The note doesn't say which way the power is going, or how they're going to nerf the item.
The following crafted weapons have had their stats adjusted to properly reflect their intended power:
If you've hit 80 you should have plenty of cash from quests. This is a great item (at least for a mage) to get you a head start in 80 dungeons. It's better than most quest reward staffs/1h swords but you can still get better ones once you hit heroics. I carry around a Prison Manifest - combined, the two give mages (and most other casters) who just dinged 80 and want to start instancing and what not a fair amount of spell power and intellect that you may need for some of the longer fights. Plus the manifest gives a little spirit which helps your mp5 a bit. The main reason I bought that pair, however, is because it's easy to find on the AH (especially the blade) and it's not outrageously expensive to get them. The blade is from blacksmithing and the manifest drops from the regular mobs in VH. Once you hit heroics, though, you may want to aim for some hit rating boosts.

On my Shadow Priest, I carry the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37889#comments for healing, but the first thing I got for Dps was the 25 Emblem Off Hand in Dalaran: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40698 and I recommend doing the same. This way you can get those stats and +necesities along with your Saronite Spellblade.

Regardless of it's usefulness starting as an 80, for 77 this can be quite conveniently paired with Faces of Doom or Iron-bound Tome depending on your class and intended usage.

Greetings from 2011! This might have been a good choice pre-Cata, but since there are Cata-itemized BoE greens at iLvl 272, this has certainly lost it's luster. Not only are the greens superior in stats, but - because of their iLvl, they can be reforged, too . . . so give this a pass if you are 77 or close to it.

Here follows a list of swords with glows or effects that will override weapon enchants. Please feel free to suggest additions or changes to the list. I would like to give credit to Töki on blizz forums for suplying a very good list of weapons.
