And this is why nobody will ever make these. The dearth of tanks and the relatively low-quality of PUG groups for Heroic Cataclysm instances guarantees that Chaos Orbs will be saved only to craft epic-quality gear for the foreseeable future. Nobody is going to burn hardened Elementium bars on a recipe that's first on the chopping block for obsolescence, let alone burn their Orbs for a rare-quality dagger, especially not when a viable dagger of the same class is available for a mere 85 Tol Barad tokens.
Don't forget the 3 BoP Chaos Orbs.
Early in beta this and other crafted weapons were epic quality, sometime thereafter Blizzard decided that crafted epic weapons were a bad idea, but forgot to lower the mat cost. Making these absurd and only viable for someone with gold/mats/time to burn given the other options available. As it is now no BS makes these, or bothers to waste the mats to buy the recipe, making them a huge waste of time being developed. They either need to lower the mat cost or raise the quality of the items, i.e. give them a socket or remove the orb cost and they would be a worthwhile piece.

I disagree with the other comments here, or at least with their conclusions. Yes this dagger is expensive. Yes it would be cheaper to wait and get the Tol Barad dagger for 85 commendations. But you can have this dagger TODAY and use it in tonight's raid, if you have gold to spare. I had one of my toons craft this for my just-turned-85 rogue. It cost me around 4k gold in matts, all from the AH, and I had it equipped within 10 minutes. Four thousand gold may seem high for a blue item, but it's not outrageous compared to what some other level 346 blues are auctioning for. Those Tol Barad commendations? They will go toward a nice agi trinket instead.
WORTH NOTING: This dagger is better itemized for a rogue than the other 346s; hit and haste are about the best you could ask for. Wowhead lists this as the best non-epic main hand dagger in the game atm.
Plus: this dagger looks really cool, way cooler than the TB dagger, imho :)

With the exception of having to buy the Volatile Air to make the Truegold, the mats for this dagger are easy and quick to farm. Fly around Uldam for 3-4 hours and you'll have everything you need but the orbs, and whomever actually makes the dagger for you will provide the orbs. This weapon is exceptional, and worth the slight effort to be sure.
3 chaos orbs for a ilevel 346 weapon is crazy, but 6 truegold? The material costs for this weapon is insane. Not worth it at all considering the price and difficulty to acquire Volatiles. Run Heroics that drop the weapon you want and it is time much better spent.

I would have made the BS weapons if they didnt bloody cost 6 Truegold each... 6 Truegold is crazy when you can get a similar or better drops in dungeons, I would love to see a nerf in the truegold needed at least, even the epic shields doesnt cost this much, its absurd :/
I agree 100%, the mats for this are laughable considering the difficulty in obtaining a lot of it.
The best non epic main hand dagger for an assassination rogue is Steelbender's Masterpiece. However, its a drop in an instance with a pug obliterating 2nd boss (skippable, but still), so you aren't wrong in your assessment.
What they realy need ot do is do away with the 24 hour cool down on truegold transmutes - it was fine before but the cooldown is what makes the costs so high, not the mats.
