I recall reading somewhere a while back that 36 is the highest level of slots for bags with the coding structure, making this the best engineering bag of all time. (unless they re-work the coding to allow 40 and higher slot bags)

Possible. Although It would probably be fairly straightforward to bump it up a bit. The gold cap for example was limited to 214,748g 36s 48c for technical reasons. However they recoded the system and bumped it up to 1,000,000g in 4.0.1.

Judging by the description, I was hoping that it would require some of these [url=http://www.wowhead.com/item=3577]useless rocks.[/url] Always seemed weird to me that a bar is worth less than a coin at the vendor.

The gold coins are REALLY [b]REALLY[/b] [b][u]REALLY[/u][/b] BIG! As big as 15 and 2/3 gold bars. Course that could mean the bars are just extremely small rather than the coins being large.

Actually gold coins are worth more than the bars because their value isn't from the gold but from the fact that it's money. Which is worth more, paper or paper dollar bills?

While you do make a good point, it is not a direct analogy. Paper money represents something else that currency is based on, which is generally gold. Assuming that there is a gold standard in Azeroth, based on the piles of gold in most of the bank vaults, then gold bars should be worth considerably more than the coins since it is the material that the coins represent. However, none of that matters since this is a game, so everything is based on keeping balance rather than pure logic.

As common as gold is in Azeroth it's unlikely they use the gold standard. It's just not worth that much. Gold is probably used for the same reason we use paper, it's cheap and plentiful.

You can trade one of these for a [item=59493] NOTE: do not buy more then what you really need, as each type of cogwheel is unique-equipped. only 1 will go in each head you craft.

This can also contain stocks of metal bars(Elementium and Obsidium only apparently and not ores), volatile earth etc , eternal earth etc, primal earth etc, ... freed up one heck of a lot of space for me.

Yeah, I was noticing that ONLY Elementium or Obsidium bars can go in there, HEY BLIZZARD, WHY???

Yeah, and all the volatiles EXCEPT volatile life. I guess Volatile Life isn't used in any engineering recipes, but that doesn't explain why neither Saronite nor Ghost Iron bars can go in it. And it's not that it's restricted to Cata items, because BC and Wrath and Vanilla elementals can go in it (though not Mote of Harmony). I get why ore doesn't go in it but the other restrictions are just weird.

You can't put an [item=60217] inside an [item=60217], even if it's empty, with the complaint that "Only Engineering Supplies can be placed in that." And here I was hoping for advanced, folding, collapsible Engineering technology. =/

@willoland Well obviously Lockboxes are, seeing as SOMEHOW you can actually get a lockbox from a lockbox. I'm not even joking.

I bought this on the AH with hopes of finding something in it but when I equipped it there was absolutely nothing in the bag. I'm just curious if this is likely to happen or I did something wrong?

I'd like Blizzard to allow this Toolbox to store Motes of Harmony and Spirits of Harmony. The herbalism bag can, the enchanting bag can, and I imagine the other bags can too, though I am not positive. Point being, while an engineer uses those materials for precious few engineering plans, we still do use them, and bag space is quite precious.

It can now hold spirits of harmony. It can also hold cloth (at least frostweave and windwool) and even Arctic Fur now. I imagine if a crafting material can be used in an engineering recipe it can now be put into this box.

As of today, the [item=76061] still fits nicely into your toolbox, but [item=89112] doesn't. I suppose Frostwolf219 is correct since I am not aware of any schematic that requires the use of the motes, so up vote to that. But this is just a small inconvenience that could probably be easily reconfigured. I am all for technicalities, but this is a really semantic detail. ::inner dialogue between my conscience and I. As of 6.0.2, can finally contain MoP gems.

Strangely the bag can contain the "Rush Order: Engineering Works" from the Garrison engineering missions, but it can't contain "Secret of Draenor Engineering" tomes, which are used to learn the WoD engineering recipes? I personally don't even know why I even bother saving those rush orders, since as a player with multiple characters, I don't even have the time to gather enough materials to make use of the rush orders. :p Just felt like pointing it out, since it seemed odd.

I am unable to learn this recipe from any trainer. I am in BFA, have engineering up to 100, have cataclysm engineering from trainer, but cataclysm recipes are showing as unavailable at all trainers. Please help. What am i doing wrong ?

Ok I found out why. It's because I started learning engineering from trainer in Dazar'alor. To get the lower level recipes, you need to learn engineering from Naxxor, and level up with old school recipes.

Won't work in the new Dragonflight 6th regent bag slot. Another bug? Everything I find says it should work. Anyone had any luck?

I have the same problem

Only Reagent Bags will work in that slot, not specific crafting profession bags.
