Well their intentions might have been good giving one piece agility and the other strength, trying to make it viable for rogues, shamen and warriors. However as a result the stat sacrifice required to pick up the set bonus, will hardly cover the cost, unless the uptime of the haste buff is gigantonormous, but let's see.
Not true Both warriors and shamans have non normalized attacks that hit with the offhand (Shaman: Storm Strike and Lava Lash Warrior: Raging Blow and Slam). Added to that Warriors have no procs from offhand attacks and shaman procs from off hand (Flame tongue weapon and maelstrom) are both normalized.
You misunderstood the person you quoted. He said rogues always want a fast offhand, not shamans or warriors.

This sweet fist as well as the axe from nefarian are BiS for any combat rogue pre-hc valiona / nefarian, so even if you don't get the 1000 haste set bonus procc it's totally worth buying on AH if you have the gold. I was lucky enough to pick it upfor 11k, otherwise it's usually on AH for 25k+ on Dragonmaw EU, and as stated before, the off hand is complete #$%^e for rogues even if the procc is nice, it doesn't measure up to the dps loss from having a slow off hand.

I have this set on my enh. sham, It seems to have a 40-45 sec icd. I tried to push it lower by waiting for it to proc then activating hero/lust, lifeblood, speed pot, unleashed wind, wf totem and with hurricane on one of the weapons and thundering skyflare in my meta. My speed was well below 1s but I couldnt get the 2nd proc during that 40-45 sec window IMO they need to chage these weapons to a ppm with no icd.

The proc effect on the set has a 45 second internal cooldown, which I tested and confirmed lastnight. I have also uploaded a Screenshot of the Proc effect on Max Partical effect settings, which can be seen under the Screenshots tab. Sanctuary - Stormrage EU

edit: tested as an enhance shaman. does not benefit as much from the OH's strength stats as much as agi, but strength does add to attack power nonetheless. 1000 haste with 20% uptime (i.e. about 200 haste consistently) versus agi/str - i would stick with the haste. proc's internal cooldown of 45sec is confirmed. the uptime for for buff throughout fight is at about 20%, i.e. more or less the same uptime as most of the other proc base (or even use base) trinkets.

Luckily enough; I got both the MH and OH of this set in consecutive runs on my enhancement shaman. They're fantastic; And I love the way they look. Awesomely enough; The effect from the set bonus stacks with hurricane. I have hurricane on both; and the jump in attack speed is pretty significant when both effects proc.

As a hunter I was interested when I saw this 2 set bonus could proc off of ranged attacks but unfortunately for hunters the strength on the Claws of Agony ruined them. As far as hunter weapons go [item=59474] is BiS until the heroic version is acquired from what I've seen, and is easy enough to obtain. If for some reason in the future the strength is changed to agility then this 2 set would be awesome for hunters, better than [item=59474] imo! Keep in mind that all melee weapons are just stat items for hunters, and so the higher/better stats prevail.

Saw a rogue dual wielding these on some training dummies thismorning.. proc rate was nasty with his hurricane enchantments on em

Looking to buy this on Wyrmrest Accord - US. Send me a mail or a /tell in-game at Ronzorus

Already have the offhand and looking to complete the set :)

I want this for my enhance shammie. I have Maimgor's Grip equipped offhand. Just waiting for this to drop... Not interested in the Claws of Agony because of the Str. I'll miss out on the set bonus, but what the heck.

Amastaa+7via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

This piece is nice for enhance shaman, but, sorry guys... the set is TERRIBLE for us. There is no reason for enh shammies to go for the set.

Why?

Haste, unlike in WotLK, is our WORST stat. All we get from haste is a bit faster attack speed and mw procs. Sure that is nice... but we get all the haste we need for free. With unleashing Wind via Unleashed Elements, Flurry, and Windfury totem or similar buff, I go from 5% to 140% haste, bringing my 2.6 weps to 1.0. (With just Flurry, 1.7). So, losing some DPS from having a Str piece is NOT offset by the proc of 1000 of our worst stat.

Should you buy this piece? Sure! Its one of the best weapons you can get, and you won't upgrade it until Heroic Nefarian. Grab this after getting your Darkmoon Card, Hurricane. :-P But, do NOT get the 2 set.

And if you need a second opinion on what stats to stack and stuff like that, here is a link to mmo-champs's guide http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/868405-Enhancement-PvE-Guide.

I'm not sure why you say this isn't BiS---I believe this is, in fact, best in slot main-hand for an Enhancement shaman. The only other 2.60 speed weapon that a shaman can use as a main-hand besides this one is Crul'korak, the Lightning's Arc, which drops from Nefarian. Considering that Claws of Torment and Crul'korak have the exact same stats, this and Crul'korak tie for best in slot. The only weapon that would be better would be the heroic version of Crul'korak---but currently not many people have the opportunity to "farm" heroic Nefarian for that weapon.

Amastaa+4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

@Amulya
This piece is nice for enhance shaman
I'm not arguing the value of this particular piece. As a claw-lover, I am wielding this and the Vicious agi offhand claw. What I was saying was that the SET was not good for us, that the set bonus was not something we wanted, esp since we would lose agility for it. And by BiS I meant absolute BiS, as in the one posted on EJ. This and Crul'korak ARE BiS before heroic Neffy. This claw is great for Enh Shamans Do not get the off claw

Eldoron+3via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Indeed haste is not the best stat for enha shammies. Neither is strength. Don't know why Blizz made these a couple... They could've made 2 couples, one with agi and one with str, perhaps two 2handers. It'd both satisfy fury warriors and those who'd only use the main hand. IMO I'll get this one for my shammy but not the offhand.

Droper+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Disregarding the questionable set bonus, this a very reasonable upgrade for a combat rogue with the gold for it. The only weapons with a better stat breakdown before hard modes are the Krol Decapitator and Stormwake, the Tempest's Reach of the Zephyr, both with a heavy RNG component to obtaining. Altogether, this item can propel you through the normal mode encounters and is prone to being undervalued in the auction house because of the unconventional set. The only other option to consider is the Fang of Twilight, since you're unlikely to have competition for it and a subtlety off spec can trivialize obtaining heroic version.

@Amastaa MW is PPM basis, and is not effected by haste or weapon speed, making haste even worse for us. That being said. This offhand IS good for shamans UNTILL we can find a suitible replacement (PVP Offhand Claw, Mainmor's bite, Lightnings Arc) If you can find a Mainmors on the AH for the same or lower price, I'd get that as opposed to the 2 set of this, but this will make a solid offhand weapon untill you do eventually find a decent agility offhand.

650134-2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

This weapon is main hand only - it unfortunately is ineligible to be an offhand at all. This comment was likely meant for the other in the set, Claws of Agony.

dispite what other people have been saying i just tryied this with the set bonus as a rogue and its much better then my old vicious shiv and fist weapon it not only looks awesome and especialy when it procs but also give haste which is very important and upped my dps alot

Nynaeve+6via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Along with many other main-hand specific fist weapons in the game, such as Fist of Deity , Talon of the Pheonix, and Claw of Molten Fury, this will become one-hand in MoP, and will finally be usable in either hand (and transmog to either hand). Very exciting!
