I think this weapon is inferior to the Ice Barbed Spear for any Mortal Strike Warrior or Retribution Paladin. Destiny is just too fast to be really good in the hands of either of those classes. The proc seems really nice but it's not enough to make me want one over the IBS with it's huge damage and good stats. I suppose a fury warrior could get the most of out this weapon but I sure wouldnt go out of my way to get one.

a hella long time ago they changed it so that any instant attack is normalized to a set weapon speed so weapon speed doesnt effect attacks like mortal strike. Its the DPS of the weapon + AP and whatever attack speed normalization of that attack is. atk speed is still argued to be better if slower. As a warrior i like slower for higher heroic strike crits (heroic strike is an attack that happens on next melee so it isnt normalized) . but faster weapons give more casting pushback so its kind of whatever you think.

edarien+24via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

I think the most important thing mentioned here is the higher damage range. While many people still use the term "slower weapon", it is the high top-end damage that is so important. The "slower weapon" comments can be misleading to newer players who may take a 3.8 WPS with LOWER damage than a 3.5 WPS with higher damage thinking "slower = better" even though that's a trend, not the rule. The rule is higher damage range, meaning the bigger top-end number.

One of my most favourite swords, if you like to take chances in your damage this is the sword for you, if your lucky and get that 200 strength boost you will easy dominate all of the mobs in your path as long as the buff lasts. Although, if you dont like to gamble, you should probably go for another sword in the auction house, but with the strength buff, this sword is legendary, in my eyes.

This sword isn't nearly as "bad" as people make it out to be. It's not gonna one-shot Rag or anything, but at it's level, it's not too bad. It's got built-in Crusader, and what's nice is that the effect stacks with an actual Crusader enchant, giving you massive strength if you catch both at the same time. It's not worth the prices I usually see it listed for, but I would pay upwards of 40g, 50g for it. It looks cool if nothing else.

With the speed of the thing I chose a 2H fury build, thinking my gear was good enough for it (twinked out warrior from 40-49 bracket).

Boy was I wrong! Sure you can ratchet your DPS to really high levels but you need trinkets and rage and time to click all the buttons, and the mob is almost dead by then, or you're dead in PvP due to the lack of essential abilities like hamstring.

Honestly, if you've got more brains than me just go for the IBS in AV, arms dominates for leveling, and it allows you to do your fair share of PvP

Personally, given the BASE math, I think this weapon is great for its level and a few levels up. I found mine by luck a year ago, and have been saving it for my paladin ever since. I've calculated a few things into the base of this weapon, given no increases through stats or anything, all raw data. (112+168)/2/2.6 = 53.8 dps .. This is the base of the weapon 200 Str (Proc) = 57.1 damage added (1 str = 2 attack power) 100 Str (Crusader) = 28.5 damage added Combined = 85.7 damage added With Crusader (140+196)/2/2.6 = 64.6 dps With Proc (169+225)/2/2.6 = 75.7 dps With Crusader + Proc (197+253)/2/2.6 = 86.5 dps At that level, even if you believe the procs are very minimally seen, that is still a burst of large quantities of damage added to instant strikes and such in 10 seconds. On my paladin, I'd wager an 86.5 dps weapon at 52 (even if for a very short time) would make Crusader Strike hit very hard, regardless of the fast speed of the weapon. That's not my main concern though. As for me as a Paladin, white damage is sadly most of my gameplay, and this thing would kick out a bunch of good white damage due to its procs if Crusader is applied. Would make grinding very nice, in my opinion.

estroBiologist+2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Definitely. 86 DPS barely under double(101 dps at 52). Not to mention it's barely double my strength(231 + 200 :D) WITHOUT Crusader. If you can find this relatively cheap, grab it. I wouldn't waste 200g on it, but 50-100g would be worth it depending on how long you intend to keep it.

45334-3via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

this sword with crusader is a must for all you paladins out there that crave some decent damage, if crusader and destiny proc thats +300 strength for 8-12 secs, you might get 5 or 6 hits in but you will crit very high

Witch one is better: Iced Barbed Spear (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19106) - with CRUSADER ENCHANT or Destiny (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=647#add-your-comment) - WITHOUT the CRUSADER ENCHAT I'm with this question in my head, and I'm gathering money to buy the DESTINY in AH, but the ICED BARBED SPEAR is a quest reward, then I can spend the money that i'm saving for DESTINY to put the CRUSADER ENCHANT on it... so I don't know if I buy DESTINY and wait a long more to catch more money 4 CRUSADER CHANT, or get the ICED BARBED SPEAR and put the CRUSADER CHANT at the same time... what u guys suggest ???

ok well on my pally i saved up the money 115g or so to buy destiny, then i really wanted crusader enchant so i was in sunken temple and i found some silvershard legs i tihnk thats waht ther called, they sold for 95g, then i got crusader enchant on destiny and it rocks. if u can save up the money i would definately go for it

Also drops off of Manaclaw. An lvl 58 elite dragon in a cave in Mazthoril in Winterspring. The fight wasn't too hard for a BM hunter. The dragon has 17k hp and does a frost attack. Very easy to take down. He does have a partial immunity to arcane spells.

Kefra-5via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

I'm not too sure about that. By level 52 a Retadin will have enough talent points to learn Crusader Strike. That ability, and Seal of Command, are dependent on slow weapon speed for maximum damage. Destiny, with 2.60 weapon speed, is one of the fastest 2-handed weapons you'll find. By all means buy one of these and slap Crusader on it if you have the gold (keeping in mind that by level 60, you'll find greens in Outland that make this thing obsolete). Otherwise, hold out for a slow, hard-hitting blue, or even a green.

I just picked this up for my 54 Prot Pally, for questing/grinding/killingfaster. I thought that JoW or JoL w/ SoC would be my best option for this weapon, but it isn't. Atleast not for me. I have almost 200str and no Agi to speak of, dps set, and I was only able to do 100dps normal, and 150 ish when it proced. however, JoC/SoR was yielding 150-180dps, and 200+ when it proced. which is a big improvement over the 50-75dps that i do w/ my tanking gear on. but with 8k armor at 54, you can't go wrong. I plan on putting crusader on it, just couldn't find any righteous orbs, and can't solo Lstrat W/ my Spriest. I'm sure it will be much better after that.

111538-5via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Well i kinda changed my mind lol =) that comment was while i was still green. Yeah its too fast.. Not worth getting it. Get Blade of Misfortune. Its cheaper and better. Although if you are lucky.. This might be good lol. Proc right after proc.

Tresjin+4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Blade of Misfortune may be cheaper and better, but it also requires waiting 8 more levels to be able to equip. Depends on if people are putting it up on the AH for a decent price, or ask way too much, but this sword is still 53.8 DPS and is worth whatever the market's willing to pay for it at this stage of the game.

Moklar+10via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

I'd love to get this on my Prot-Pala for killing single mobs. This item is good for that BECAUSE of the speed since a Prot. Paladin probably has Reckoning and with it procing you'll get 3 extra attacks within the next 10 secs = nice holy damage. Personally I have specced Imp. SoR so I can do better damage with a two-hander as well.

Human, MS Warrior Level 60. If acquired at level 52 with the crusader enchant, adding in Sword Specialization and the racial traits for humans and sword. I have to tell you, with the speed of the weapon, it procs so much in a battle (especially in Berserker Stance, with Whirlwind strike) I have had DPS like nothing I have seen. This sword is ideal for leveling, especially if grinding. Ice Barbed Spear is better for Elite mobs due to stat buffs and crits off of Heroic strike. Only slightly mind you. Add in elixirs like the one the moonkin in Winterspring drop on you and a nice Diamond Flask Trinket. You can do wondrous things with this sword. The reason the value is sort of low for an epic is it fairly easily drops, both on the world and in Dungeons; and the fact it is a very specific weapon for only a couple of classes at best. I have used it from 52 until 59 when some of the Greens from Outlands started to take over in my weapon locker. This thing is a meat grinder, an absolute terror in BG between 52-59 in Arathi Basin.

Waezlur+4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Couldn't agree more! I'm kind of hoping that Cataclysm will do this. Since we're returning to the classic world we should see some classic - but improved - design as well. At least I hope so... The sword shares model with the Barov Family sword, which has a darker shade to the metal. Beautiful swords both of them, but Destiny is definitely one of - if not THE - most beautiful weapons in the game. Good too - still using it on my lvl 62 ret pally. AH hasn't yielded anything better and RNG is not my friend in Outlands...

326458-4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

I just got one of these running my little bro through Strat off the very first pull of non-elites. I know it's not as potentially killer as it could be due to the speed, but I don't see an epic being completely useless. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do with it? What kind of character to give it to, and what enchant to stick on it?

258919+4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Obviously a DPS weapon, if you couldn't tell. Fury warriors and ret pallies will probably see the most use out of this. As for enchants, crusader, fire weapon, whatever. Mainly the most appealing part of this epic is the looks, since you'll be replacing it in Outland if you only want stats.

Enthused+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Destiny is still a fantastic transmog weapon even now. There are usually a few for sale on the AH at any given time, but the price can vary wildly. The lowest I have seen for this is 850g, which is definitely worth it for such a classic and cool looking sword.

Kefra+3via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Let's compare Destiny to a level 51 Alterac Valley quest reward, Ice Barbed Spear. This comparison assumes you intend to melt faces in the 50-54 bracket. But even if you're just leveling, you might still find the math enlightening. Assume a character with 900 attack power. I figured, this pally, plus buffs being applied/dispelled/falling off, will average 900 AP running around the battleground. So... With Destiny equipped, as calculated below, his or her base weapon damage would be 324-381: Min: 112 + (900*3.3/14) = 324 (rounded to the nearest integer) Max: 169 + (900*3.3/14) = 381 With a Crusader proc active (granting 100 Strength), you gain 200 AP. This increases the base weapon damage to 371-428. With Destiny’s +200 Strength proc, you gain 400 AP. This increases the base weapon damage to 418-475. With both procs active, you gain 300 Strength, or 600 AP. This increases base weapon damage to 466-523.
Now take the same character and swap out Destiny in favor of Ice Barbed Spear. The 13 Strength on the Spear grants 26 AP. Your base weapon damage, according to the calculations below, is 373 – 451. Min: 155 + (926*3.3/14) = 373 Max: 233 + (926*3.3/14) = 451 With Berserking active, you gain 400 AP. This increases base weapon damage to 468-546.
Here is the above wall of text condensed into a few easy-to-compare lines: Destiny: 324 – 381 Destiny + Crusader active: 371 – 428 Destiny + Destiny proc active: 418 – 475 Destiny + Crusader and Destiny procs active: 466 – 523 Ice Barbed Spear: 373 – 451 Ice Barbed Spear + Berserking active: 468 – 546 The Ice Barbed Spear wins mostly because it only needs one thing to proc in order to reach its maximum potential. Destiny won't have both procs active very often, and even when it does, IBS with Berserking up edges it out. TL;DR If the price of Berserking < the price of Destiny + Crusader (or you have the mats and an enchanter handy), Ice Barbed Spear is a no-brainer. If AV is tough to win in your battlegroup, Destiny is honestly not half-bad.

Eladria+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

As I understand it, it has the same chance to drop off anything in the right level range *however* it's easier to farm doing dungeon runs because you have tightly packed groups. LBRS is an excellent spot for this, provided you're high enough level to mow everything down quickly :)
