Blockade's Lost Shield

Grats Infinitum, you made it to the big time!

Named after [url=http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Barthilas&n=blockade]Blockade[/url] from Barthilas. [url=http://www.saate.net/obsessions-blockades-shield-collection/]He collects shields[/url] and as of time of this post has around 40ish shields in his collection. Apparently he's managed to lose shield #47 somewhere along the way.

Somebody made an obsession site and he was on it.

Blockade used to be a warrior tank on US-Shadowsong who ran 40 man naxx raid pugs during BC. To this day I do believe blockade has gotten all shields in the game excluding one, the shield off sapphiron, the one currently residing in my bags from his run. If I had known you were such a damned collector blockade, if only I had known Miss ya bud

Looks like Blockade has found his shield:)

Moral of the story: If Brann Bronzebeard says to you after a night of heavy drinking "Lets go explore some mysterious uncharted ruins near Grim Batol, your brand new shield that you just got off my Brother Magni will be [i]perfectly[/i] fine!" don't believe him as he is a [b][i]goddamn liar.[/i][/b]

So yeah a rather huge surprise to me as anyone else and I honestly can't thank Blizzard enough for creating it. I'm simply in love with it already and can't wait to pick it up.. for the second time.

Blockade has this transmogged into a different looking shield, sacrilege!

Seems like this shield was stealth nerfed. It now gives 114 Parry and 134 mastery instead of 127 parry and 127 mastery.

That may have been the original stats, I don't really know. The stats you seem to think it used to have (127 parry, 127 mastery) are the exact stats for the shield that drops from Nefarian. Also, link to Akmin-Kurai shield. Edit2: Dropped for me in my first run of Grim Batol (normal mode, but definitely a world drop), from the troggs at the beginning of the instance. He's right. On launch, this shield replicated the stats of Nefarian's shield exactly. It has been nerfed.

Probably being downrated because moving 7 points from parry to mastery is actually an improvement?

Block rating (via mastery) is more desirable than either parry or dodge before you hit the block cap (102.4% combined avoidance) and mastery is not affected by diminishing returns. You want to fill up the combat table as quickly as you can. This makes this the best ilvl 359 shield (by a small margin, compared to Akmin-Kurai, of course). At least to paladins, this applies. =)

Just to add to the debate above... The shield gained a small number of secondary stat points by evening out the totals. The way blizzard's itemization mechanics work, the more secondary stats and the closer to even those stats are, the more you gain total. Of course, since some stats are more valuable than others to most classes, you may still see this as a nerf. You do have more stat points after this change though.

[b][u]Completely uninteresting but relevant fact:[/u][/b] Currently this shield does not "sit" properly when on the back, or the arm, of a female human warrior (though this may also apply to other race/gender combinations). Rather than being positioned on a rough mid-point between the shoulders (or on the arm) it appears to be sitting left of center. Quite apart from the fact that this is aesthetically irritating, it's probably not a great idea to have your shield slightly too low on the arm, thus allowing nasty, evil individuals a free shot at your face. Having said that, it's a beautiful shield and worth getting a fireball in the eye for.

Sits wrong on a male nelf as well.

As of patch 4.0.6 this shield is now bigger and sits on your back properly!

Got mine on Saturday, and I am very happy for soul-binding it. Kudos, Blockade!

This shield is green and is now bigger than your average shield or bulwark.

"A small number 47 is inscribed near the grip." Where exactly is this "grip" they speak of? The shields in warcraft magically connect themselves to our wrists.

1st one dropped in normal GB, and the 2nd tonight in H ToT. Within 2 weeks. They up the rate on 359's dropping? Or am I just super lucky?

Nothing like this ever drops for me, but I just got it off a silly Dragonmaw Skyclaw. Awesome!

ETA: Why is this downvoted so many times? My first ever comment to this sight... Like I'm the only one who says they finally got a drop of some sort.

Where do you guys think is the best place to farm for this shield?

This is a world drop, hence there isn't really any place where you should farm it except the auction house. It has a higher droprate inside raids and 5-man instances, but the chances of getting one are pretty much zero. Your best bet is to buy one in trade/AH.

There are officially TWO SHIELDS that look like they will block something so far in this expansion. Let's hope they keep it up. :D

I got this shield today in Heroic Grim Batol off of a trash drop for my Pally Tank. I flipped out and basically jumped off the railing because i was so caught off guard that off all people I would get a 359 heroic drop in a pug. THIS SHIELD IS SO AWESOME! Big thanks to Blockade for making this shield possible!

Reason why to love this shield...cause its huge.

Just had this drop for me in Hyjal while doing the daily punting season, of off a flame Keeper.

Dropped today during a Zul'Gurub run while I was tanking on my paladin and a warrior dps ninjaed it. He just needed it to give it to the other war in the party (they were guild mates). He even equipped his 378 shield just to mock me. It made me really sad :(

Got this shield from Xariona 40 minutes ago (Go WeNoDie!). This is one of the most bad-ass shields I've ever seen. :D

I was farming @ Obelisk of the Moon in Uldham and this dropped just now! I was farming the elites there. BY THE WAY! GREAT farming spot..tons of greens and embersilk, mobs can drop 1+gold and up to 8 embersilk along with greens, BOE blues and apparently epics as well. Interesting story of why this shield exists and the "47" on it!

I was fortunate enough for this to drop while I tanked H Shadowfang Keep -- and yet have no one ninja. Luckiest happening in my WoW career yet, being that I do nothing but tank. Props to Blockade.

Managed to snag it tonight off the AH for 3k gold! Man I was so happy! I was just checking my auctions, doing my scan, and then I saw the Elementium Earthguard up for 4k and the BLS for 3k. Personnally, I'd take Mastery + Parry over Mastery + Hit even if there is a stam bonus.

Plus, it looks more badass than any of the other ones.

Confirmed that it drops from trash in Zul'Aman. 15.03.2013. Of course a less intelligent friend of mine managed to need instead of greeding it, so that it became soulbound.. Greedy peoples..!

Well, as far as I can see, the place I got the drop from is not on the list. I got it from [zone=5789] from a [npc=54543].

Unfortunately, I did not have the add-on this page requires, to update the database, and I just made my account now to let it show in here that it is possible to obtain it from there.

Not sure if this is relevent information, but I obtained this shield through my garrison salvaging hut, it was in a Big Crate of Salvage. So you can get it through those means as well, as a back up whilst you're grinding for it.

And don't think that wasn't on my mind for a few hours. Anyway, I get up this morning (with my new toy storming over my head), go out to my salvage yard and this pops! While it [i]looked [/i]good on my mage, I couldn't use it for obvious reasons. So I put it up in the Auction House and a couple hours later some happy tank buys it for, you guessed it, 230k.
