This recipe is a Cataclysm world drop. Expect early prices to be sky high.

If you're planning on farming this or any of the other new JC patterns, I recommend going to Hyjal and farming mobs there as they're all really low level, fast, and easy to kill, which would cut back a lot of farm time.

Correct me if I'm wrong (because I'm really not sure at all), but doesn't this only drop off of level 85 Cata mobs?

Even in patchnotes it is written the recipe drops from any cata creature.

It dropped for me while farming savage leather from the basilisks in "the pale roost" in deepholm. I was not on my jewelcrafter so it can drop for anyone.

Confirmed. It dropped from a random mob for me today while questing in Twilight Highlands and I'm an alchemist/tailor, so being a JC is not required for it to drop.

After a few days of pure farming, I kind of gave up. Today, I was doing Tol Barad dailies with a friend and this recipe dropped from a mob that stay around the quest that you have to shoot some boats. (:

There is a problem with these drop rates. The number of drops has only been counting since 4.0.6, whereas the number of loots has been counting since Cata release. They will move closer to the real drop rates for most mobs in about a year, longer for those that are "lightly killed."

Since the recipe is a random world drop, all we'll have in a year's time is a huge list of Cataclysm mobs that have dropped it. There'll be no real sign of any particular NPC that drops it more than any other.

You downrated my comment and missed my point. The drop rates look extremely low because of the counting range. There may be some mobs that drop it 25%, but we will not know this for some time. You have predicted that "there will be no real sign of any particular NPC" with a higher drop rate. How do you know this? Random drops do have different rates on different mobs in WOW. It may be the case that you are correct, but also, you may be wrong. Only time will tell.

I was farming for cloth using the [url=http://cata.wowhead.com/item=58488]Potion of Treasure Finding[/url], and found this recipe in one of the [url=http://www.wowhead.com/item=67539]Tiny Treasure Chests[/url]. I'm guessing all of the new recipes can drop from these.

ahhhh...now you've made me want to buy one of thoe darned potions, in spite of the price....this would be a sweet gem for my ret pally....sigh.......thanks...I think. LOL

I had this pattern drop off of a [url=http://www.wowhead.com/npc=40229]scalding rock elemental[/url] while farming for volatile earth.

These drop rates seem stupidly low? . . . then again we will have to wait till about a year or 2 to see the ACTUAL drop rate, this is just an example of data collected so far

This dropped for me off [npc=41590] while doing [quest=25977] in Abyssal Depths, Vash'jir.

Just sold this about 10 minutes ago for 2500g. It sold almost instantly when I posted it. I guess I should have gone for more. A guildie said (after the fact) that he saw it sold for 15k a while ago.

Oh and it dropped from the crocolisks in Uldum. Down by the river delta. I was farming tails for cooking.

Hello, Sorry for my poor English, but i am Dutchspeaking, so some words are not write good. I was farming today mobs in Hyal for Volatile Fire. I am Alchemist and use that Potion of Treasure Finding. This recipe dropped for me. It was not in a Treasure Chest because it came in the message window. World drops are very rare. Have a Jewelcrafter and Blacksmithing char (have 2 accounts) so i will learn it and i think the gems are sell well on the AH. But World Drops... I miss still 1 Outland World drop Alchemy recipe: [b]Recipe: Destruction Potion[/b] after almost 2 years. I am 51 and invalide, i am not a Raider, but i do other things, like farming Reputation. I loot always everything. For the BoP drop [b]Recipe: Haste Potion[/b] i have done 38 runs Magister Terrace before it was dropped. Mount after Second kill and also a Pet after 5 kills. The runs in the other dungeons (many many runs for Exalted), never seen it. Have done all the quests, from Scryer to Aldor, just to say how many mobs i have killed there. The recipes [b]Recipe: Heroic Potion[/b] (only BoE World Drop) i have it never seen drop and it was 2 times on the AH in almost 2 years. The first time it was there for 9 Gold and i baught it immediately and learnt it. 1 month ago, it was for the 2nd time on the AH for 250 gold. I baught it and i sold it for 2800 gold. And 1 time the BoE drop [b]Recipe: Haste Potion[/b] for 95, sold for also 2800 gold. Two days ago, the almost last: [b]Recipe: Elixir of Major Mageblood[/b], only a BoE World Drop Outland. 250 gold. Rest 1: [b]Recipe: Destruction Potion[/b] and also 2 Discoveries. Then there is 1 left and i have all the recipes (have still the Herbalist Stone for Zul' Gurub. I collect many things. Have i said something wrong? For downrating this post? Strange... But it was for to say that the Recipe: Destruction Potion was dropped on an alt while farming reputation for Shatari People in Terokkar Forest. Miss still 1 Discovery.

Dropped for me from a Scion of Al'Akir while farming volatile air. Sells on Borean Tundra server for at least 5k.

Just dropped from random trash in Zul'Gurub and I was all casual about it but now I checked the drop rate and hoooly sh*t!

drop chance from elementium lockbox is under 0.004% so you will never see this from ele lockbox

It's [i]unlikely[/i], but still [i]possible[/i]. Two times out of thousands is still higher than [i]never[/i].

Looted [item=68782] off [npc=51079] in [zone=5146]. Although it's a world drop it appears to have a higer drop rate off rare elites, such as a 6% chance from [npc=50005]. However, Captain Foulwind isn't listed under the "Dropped by" section of the designs Wowhead page. I am not sure if this is because the drop chance off him is extremely low or if it's a lack of data but he might be worth a try.

looted this in the inferno and was surprised when i came here and noticed the low drop rate.It was a nice bonus when trying to get Voliate fire for a tailoring item i need

This pattern dropped for me from the basilisks in Tol Barad while doing the daily [url=http://www.wowhead.com/quest=28658]Swamp Bait[/url]. Only mentioning it because they are not listed in the "dropped by" tab and seem quite easily farmable while doing other dailies in the area.

That is because it is a world drop. World drops can come off any mob within the level bracket wow has set for that item. Wow set this item's drop level as 80-85. It is well known that you do not farm world drops anywhere but the auction house.

Just 'farmed' this item off the auction house. That is where everyone should be looking for it.

On Bleeding Hollow (Horde), This design starts at 900 gold and ends at 2500 gold on the AH. I'm trying to currently sell it for 2000 gold. Let you know how well that works out.

The most common way of obtaining these 3 meta-gems patterns by yourself will continue to be farming them from Cataclysm world bosses. However, just to confirm it, you can still get these through the traditional extremely rare world drops. I happened to find this design out of a Twilight Zealot in Blackrock Caverns (the pack just before 2nd boss) during a Timewalking dungeon.
